  1. better to look at unrestricted vs restricted i think footywire has a list, but i'm unsure of the accuracy of it of those who are unrestricted, the list coming up who likely are not in the last years of their careers are few and far between... jacob weitering brayden maynard brayden fiorini toby pink marcus bontempelli the first and the last listed are unlikely to leave their teams where they are key players and leaders of the club this place would blow up worse than the trac and oliver trade threads combined if we recruited maynard, i'd imagine
  2. three journos saying three very different things in two publications so why believe any of em
  3. daniel is also rumoured to be owed more than a $1.5m over the next two seasons under a heavily back-ended contract owies is likely to be on average wage, so probably close to $350k a year bedford doesn't play as a half-forward any more really - he's a midfield tagger first and foremost; he certainly doesn't impact the scoreboard anything like as much as he used to do when he was more of a half-forward he was also in / out of the gw$ side before 'settling' into this position at which he has excelled
  4. add also, in the last decade or so: crom, bears, filth, peptides... every club goes through various issues with player attention / attraction
  5. clark hasn't shown much at this stage i'll take sdk and future 1st and 2nd, which we then on trade to get higher up in to this year's first round i'm personally not too concerned if oliver stays or goes at this point it would be very sad, but clearly something needs to change in our playing ranks
  6. same happened for gunston at the crom, where he was the best young player winner or some such, and had the reward bestowed upon him withdrawn when he went to dingley
  7. sort of but not really the soul of the club is the supporters, not the players
  8. i love that every article maclure writes about oliver includes the caveat that 'melbourne are adamant he's not up for trade' who is pushing for the trade, i wonder? all of maclure's commentary seems to be coming from the oliver camp
  9. i think one of the things that is easy to forget is that afl players are afl players because, well, they grew up idolising other afl players as such, it makes sense that they want to go and play for the club that they supported - it's a definite advantage for the likes of the filth (perryman), meth coke (baker), and the crom (cumming) he's a great get for them given their age and list demographics
  10. great write-up on kalani... Attached to two clubs through the Suns Academy and also Melbourne as a father-son prospect (Jeff, 236 games), White played the deepest defensive role and was often involved one way or another. A couple of times he got caught behind but when in front he was able to quell any attack with a great leap and timed his spoiling well. Playing it safe with his disposals which were often neat, short passes while on the last line, he clunked five marks – one contested – and was among the better players on his side despite having the least disposals, showing his impact in pressure situations.
  11. doesn't even officially begin for, what, a further 10 days?
  12. you didn't include the next sentence: But a third source said Melbourne had indicated to people in the industry they were not interested in trading the 27-year-old sam needs to pick a lane
  13. flow on effect from mcqualter getting the meth coke coaching gig wantaway tigs going to play under a bloke they know
  14. bassatt comes in as one, presumably forward coach midfield coach tbc
  15. very good result for him hopefully it's a long-term deal for him as they need to re-develop significantly
  16. 6 will go to the tigs for rioli 12 will go for noble and the filth's future 1st 20 will probably be swapped for a future 1st from someone else as well
  17. flagmantle are using all their picks to bring in bolton and, if they can, baker from the tigs
  18. you forgot billionaires in the boys' club agitating for change
  19. i would wager, given the actual ticket allocation, that there was a higher percentage of demons' fans at the perth stadium grand final than there would be at an mcg grand final
  20. i was amazed when he took a mark on the half back flank in a pack yesterday haven't seen him do that for a long, long time he played well, but i thought fort / daniher won the ruck battle over him / mclean
  21. i thought he played half forward as a stopper on zorko and got smashed
  22. you said "As always we don’t seem to be in the hunt for any big name players" except we are, virtually every year just posting rubbish
  23. bloods game is built around the scg can't defend the bigger ground the 5m or so shouldn't make a difference but clearly every centimetre of space counts
  24. grundy having a shocker
