Trade Targets
waterman another key forward that we've chased in the last few years and not been able to get across the line: ben brown - 3 year deal that really was washed midway thru the 2nd year taylor walker - refused to leave adelaide for family reasons tom lynch - felt he owed it to the tigs jake waterman - used us to leverage a better deal at meth coke plus the high level talent we've tried to add to the midfield / defensive run: adam cerra - didn't have the assets to get the deal done dan houston - spooked by our cultural fit / unwillingness to not use the pick that became langford not being able to get more than 1 of these 6 targets has been a major issue

GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Essendon
i expect we'll struggle to kick more than about 8 goals, and they - particularly zerrett - will run all over us peptides by 7 goals

NON-MFC: Round 05
the filth going the boundary route has worked well; limited damage bloods can do on the turnover
-
Trade Targets
we've been spoiled by having the greatest ruckman of all time preceded by all oztrayan rucks in jamar (who joined as a rookie), white, and of course stynes perhaps kalani will be our next

Trade Targets

dear was a father-son pick and always going to dingley

Recruiting - where did it all go wrong
tex didn't want to leave adelaide (the city) and lynch felt he 'owed' the tigers to stay given the way he joined a premiership side and all their other premiership players were walking out

Recruiting - where did it all go wrong
crom ain't even made finals with a rankine dawson, keays, cumming, keane, peatling as yet (but they surely will) danger, cameron, and smith were the hallmark recruits of the puddy tatts' 2022 flag, while smith looks like being part of their finals team if they make it this year what, drafted them? that's jvr / el jefe and turner - a first rounder and a speculative pick (although i think walker was actually an academy selection?) i love that there seems to be this belief that bringing together a premiership side, and then after a premiership, is so easy we tried for tex, we tried for lynch - both said no it ain't for want of trying to bring in class

MEMBERSHIP TALLY 2025
to be perfectly honest, anything over 50k is a 'win' for mfc - our standard attendance is 25k or thereabouts; our membership-to-attendee # remains quite strong the notion that we are a big or even a mid-sized club is a misnomer; we're clearly not - we're always around about par with the aints, and barely ahead of footscray and north, purely from a membership perspective at our most successful, post-premiership, we achieved around 70k members - at our lowest ebb, a bit over a decade ago, we were around half that i seem to recall now, admittedly, memberships for all clubs have 'grown' since the mid 00s, but memberships are a 'nice' thing for the club not something that actually effects the day to day of what is happening from an afl-wide or an organisational standpoint; from head office's pov the only thing that matters is that broadcast revenue (from the saudi pif via dazn now) and wagering revenue (from a myriad of gambling agencies) continues to rise

Trade Targets
it's why we tried for tom lynch two years in a row - we were prepared to take on his salary and dodgy knees in order to get a genuine #1 tall forward jvr is an ideal #2 and el jefe is... well, tbh, i don't really think he's good enough at vfl level let alone afl level at this point in time

Time to go Goody?
goodwin's record of three consecutive top 4 finishes at the end of the home and away season, including a premiership, is the most successful three year period we've had since the 1960s under norm smith daniher's record was up and down and northey was our last 'consistently competitive' coach from 87-91 inclusive, and both those sides were always good but not quite great at the end of every season - they always fell short year after year balme had one great year and lost every key pillar to injury, bailey was on a hiding to nothing, and neeld was an incredibly divisive and distruptive presence that required paul roos to come in and calm the farm goodwin deserves the rest of the year imo at the end of the season a calm and considered opinion by a new ceo and a board with a new president in charge is warranted he may survive; he may not
