  1. spoke to someone today whose mail is normally very good and said we are a better chance than not to have him with us in 2024 doesn't think it'll be two first rounders also thinks we'd be mad to trade out of 2024
  2. the people united will never be defeated
  3. jvr doesn't appear to be, he seems to relish it
  4. Souvent pour s'amuser les hommes d'equipage It's like talking to a stranger
  5. max gruzewksi ahead of him with 30.19 from 13 games
  6. he's 8th on the vfl goalkicker's tally with 29.19 from 16 games, of which i think the first three were played in defence averages per game 9.6 disposals 6.2 kicks 3.4 handballs 3.8 marks 1.9 tackles 2 goals a game (probably closer to 2.5, 3 for games played forward)
  7. yeah not sure about that a two time premiership player as a father is a pretty big deal and formative in yr life i imagine, especially as jake presumably would've grown up around that club and then freo during his early childhood; jack grew up around dees, dingley, and crom jack joining the mfc while todd worked there is a huge deal, no doubt be interesting to see if waterman wants to play in a premiership as the same colours as his dad - i suppose it depends if he thinks they can regenerate quickly on field jack had the option to go to the puddy tatts and didn't let's see if jake has the some tug on the heartstrings
  8. once tasmania and then the 20th team comes in the finals effectively being the top 10 the idea of a wildcard weekend will be deemed a lot more 'acceptable' it won't be called that tho, cos the afl will want something to trademark and license it gives the afl a new revenue stream opportunity - it's not part of the existing broadcast rights agreements, so perfect thing to pair with a streamer for two games one weekend afl can ultimately 'sell' it a la gil's round in adelaide, and make it standalone friday nite and saturday twilight / night in a sold location to the highest bidder it would actually be perfect for tasmania as there's that white elephant of a roofed stadium to utilise once the thing is built just add it to the bill as another thing for the tasmanian taxpayers to pay for as part of their initial afl set-up in the first few years i like that it gives a benefit to finishing top 6 as they get a week off while the others play off in an elimination contest presumably 7 vs 10 and 8 vs 9?
  9. broken hill connection to adelaide, i assume
  10. yeah, strategic leaks i assume alongside houston, waterman, cumming, and angwin, i would love us to target the following blokes on good coin and at least ellen is on a long deal who might be looking for a change of scenery and we might be able to get them at a discount if we take on their full salary into our cap: liam ryan (meth coke) darcy parish (peptides) jack macrae (footscray) finn callaghan (gw$) in the year before he comes out of contract would cost a pretty penny but he would suit us to a tee
  11. it sounds like battle has made his decision and it won't involve us i presume the lure for cumming is that broken hill has more affiliation with adelaide than melbourne (or sydney for that matter) he would be a handy pick up for us but has done his hamstring, what, three times this year? cerra tops him out at five this season...
  12. yes his dad played 177 games for them, is a two-time premiership player, and he was 'best clubman', who then became their backline coach before switching to flagmantle so yes, i would imagine the waterman name has just as much connection as the viney for us
  13. current 2024 draft picks: 7, 38, 42, 48, 63, 81 obviously we 'own' all our 2025 picks as well, as two future years trading hasn't come in as yet the players we have been rumoured to be interested in: josh battle (aints) FREE AGENT isaac cumming (gw$) FREE AGENT ryan angwin (gw$) dan houston (pear) i think we've been ruled out of the battle sweepstakes; he's either staying at aints or going to dingley cumming talk seem to have gone quiet; i would presume we're still keen? angwin the same houston i am super keen to bring home, if we can do i worry about the supposed 'cost' of two first round picks? i expect that's ambit claim put to the medja to spruik on the pear's behalf by jason cripps and chris davies, but we shall see... ...the biggest q is whether he is worth it as i think it was @DeeSpencer said, there's first round picks and then there's 'first round picks' would love to get him
  14. absolute superstar one of the all-timers [insert: we didn't even interview him misery]
  15. will ultimately mean that only 1-6 get that silly 'bye' week in between home and away and finals so that's a 'win' for teams in that spot at any rate
  16. our percentage was decimated by two beltings from flagmantle, and now the dogs one too i don't disagree with yr requirements tho big difference between the jobs done by tomlinson and tommy mac imo - the latter is a very, very good afl player and the former is a very good vfl player with gawn, may, viney in the team, it hink we're in 'win now' mode, and that's why i expect us to bounce too
  17. too many talls maybe? wright's form has completely abandoned him waterman would be great, i think, but i'm convinced that the talk of him leaving is purely managerial manoeuvring to get a decent contract uplift now in his pre-agency year
  18. i don't think we need to plug 'a lot of holes' at all the margins between success (finals) and failure (not) are so slim in the 2024 afl season i'm very confident that we can 'bounce' in 2025, and i imagine the supposed desire from houston by the footy dept is a huge part of their confidence in doing the same
  19. we don't have that many 'kids' who aren't playing in the seniors already in the vfl last round: jefferson - will probably debut this week adams - looks a long way off it verrall - looks a long way off it sestan - not consistent enough at vfl to warrant afl selection pup brown - probably next in line for a call-up kentfield - looks a long way off it farris-white - not ready for vfl let alone afl would love to see el jefe given a solid run for the next 3 games in the seniors, and pup brown should be there too if sestan has one really good game in the vfl, would be great to see him debut for mfc next week
  20. we took two first round picks to the draft last year; i have no issues with trading out houston is an absolute jet we're in it to win it, regardless of our fall from the pointy end this season he'll help replace the brayshaw role immediately
  21. if he was a free agent it would be more of a concern but it is certainly an oddity it would be very disappointing if after 5 seasons of pretty good and sometimes great footy he left
  22. how many weeks for charlie's 'string ping?
  23. i personally don't think it would be wise to send everyone off who needs surgery etc. off now, as we already look very short of leadership and senior bodies on the field based on what seems to be his style of leadership, i can't see gawn wanting to NOT play it's going to be interesting to see what path we go down for these last games
  24. yes, cos they're going to be in finals
  25. can't believe pear let the bloods score #sackken
