  1. first two years under pert were to try and get us closer to the mcg - was a bust, but at least they tried, including going through a process and getting knocked back caulfield has been in train for the last two years, and it's another throw at the stumps but at least we can clearly see that the board is trying everything to make it happen you've said you don't trust the board; cool, i guess i am giving the benefit of the doubt as they have - from what i can determine - been pretty clear in their aims and outcomes and timelines around trying to get us a home base for the duration of the time since ol mate out west, jackson, and roos were parachuted into the club first step was casey (win), next was yarra park (fail), third is caulfield (we'll see) arguably, we're closer to something actually happening than we've ever been since 1964 i see that as a good thing rather than a bad one, which to me says that - despite massive issues amongst themselves, clearly - the board and administration have worked as best as they can to actually make it happen i look at the prospect of a base at caulfield and a satellite site at casey to accommodate our four sides as a massive win that should give us a leg up in the competition for years to come i hope it happens; you expect it won't i couldn't deal with being that negative about something that i, ultimately, have no control over
  2. but i don't understand why you expected it to be any different they said this time last year the feasibility study was expected to take the majority of the 2024 year an announcement has now been made of next steps the way you automatically assume the worst outcome is mfcss to which i can only aspire; i'm not that hardwired to negativity i say 'we'll see' i have hope, which i think as a football fan is what you want, rather than going full hanrahan - "we'll all be rooned!"
  3. holes? as opposed to the 'not what i'm hearing' from 3aw? hearing from..? this was always going to the process - the notion that it's 'had holes picked within it within 12 hours' and that releasing it has 'bought [someone] a year' is such a negative way of looking at the announcement mfcss manifest, indeed
  4. if noble was a non-event then there's no way that he'd be getting a 4-5 year deal at gc17 and the filth would be demanding pick 12 for him as an opening gambit speedy half-backs who can hit targets = the new inside bulls; every team wants two of em
  5. hanrahan's "we'll all be rooned!"
  6. until proven otherwise, one is a piece of scuttlebutt by a 3aw rumour and the other is an official statement by the club no need to jump at shadows
  7. The Melbourne Racing Club has sensationally ruled out rebel John Kanga’s push to spill the board at a special general meeting. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/racing/melbourne-racing-club-bury-caulfield-rebel-s-push-to-spill-the-board-20240919-p5kbww.html
  8. he's anything but precise by foot imo
  9. i'm sorry but i just don't see it houston is a much better ball user by foot, accrues more disposals, impacts the play much more... personally, i'd like both! don't see this as a knock on callaghan; more of an indication of how highly houston is as a player in my estimation
  10. did you see the game where gw$ beat the puddy tatts down at sleepy hollow and it felt like he marked EVERY f50 entry?
  11. no way houston is one of the best ball users in the competition callaghan is a good player, but houston is a two-time all oztrayan for good reason
  12. 2025-30 - we'll finish somewhere between 1 and 19, hopefully closer to 1 coffee i think you missed my follow-up where i said how excited i am by this announcement, and that to get it fully built by 2030 would be a brilliant result for the club
  13. who briefed the slobbster on this? mates at the peptides i assume, given it attacks stringer, and stringer is making life 'difficult' for them at the moment
  14. four teams with different programs able to experience different environments and tailor the training based upon different set-ups is the ideal situation for the years, decades, and hopefully centuries to come i am very, very curious to see how the filth, the baggers, and the tigs manage everything in the future the latter already tried to augment their oval availability and got blocked at the pass
  15. very unlikely i think we have a long term agreement to partner with casey plus the advantage of having caulfield and casey is two elite facilities, not one
  16. i don't think people realise how much the sale of foxtel will change afl and nrl coverage in oztraya cricket will be somewhat 'safe' because of the i(b)cc(i) and the value of international rights for a global sport but afl and nrl? gonna be interesting to see how it goes i think last deal 70% of the broadcast rights came from news corp for both codes?
  17. wait... are you saying that bedford is better than chandler, pickett, and spargo? mcadam i could understand, sure, but not the latter three
  18. Oh I am believe you me - I probably wasn’t clear that I’m pleased by the announcement I think this is a great second step toward getting it ready to go Still a fair journey ahead but we are further advancing - from a communication standpoint to fans as much as anything - as we were yesterday
  19. not surprised by the amount of negativity i am going to guess that we will wait for a year to have the business case approved before first sods turned 2026; building open in 2030
  20. we can look but we better not touch... off to gc17
  21. players that the various afl medja punditry have linked us to, and away from, in the last six months: ryan angwin (gw$) wade derksen (gw$) dan houston (pear) tim membrey (aints) jake waterman (meth coke) plus we have our own various demonland threads on other players (such as matt kennedy from the baggers) but i'm yet to see anyone in the medja link us to him
  22. are you accusing the afl medja of not having ANY idea of what they're talking about? well i, for one, am shocked
  23. this is one of those instances where, for whatever reason, crikey won't allow me to access anything beyond the third para it's not a bad website, i find, but i'd rather spend a micro-transaction with them than an annual subscription, which is not something that they offer
  24. ben brown in 2021 was integral to our premiership
