Has anyone considered Lever is struggling to deal with playing in Oscar’s colossal shadow? But seriously, I don’t even watch Oscar with a critical eye anymore. He’s a good, solid defender who does his job every single week. Anyone still criticising him must forget that the best defenders in the league make mistakes every game. Hurley was touched up by Fritsch and Spargo at times, and Rance was flailing about between Pies kids in their game. Neville Jetta is the only defender to have never made a single mistake in his life.

Essendon are absolute rubbish. Worst defending side in the comp for mine, and seems like they can’t score now either. That said, we still had to beat them, when we were some how playing worse than them. My optimistic view is Tmac should make a huge difference. He did today. He leads, no one else leads at the ball, and he’s a senior player so hopefully they [censored] listen to him and start looking for leads. He just brings balance and is a brilliant forward. I hope his foot holds up because we need him badly. (Can’t believe I’m even saying this or that he was ever a defender) But we need to cut out the fumbling and bombing it anywhere. I’m surprised we’re 3-3 after doing that for 5 and a half rounds. We can’t play any worse, surely.
