  1. Probably not ready to go next year, but a season or two in the gym and he will start becoming a genuine presence. Looks like reasonable skills and covers the ground well. I'd be happy if we take him.
  2. Yep, agree BB. Must admit, I've been trying to figure out why MFC people keep saying Josh Mahoney is a rising star. Like all the other lightweight idiots that rely on landing big fish or brands, I have felt underwhelmed during previous trade periods. But today, we controlled the outcomes. Today was a very good day.
  3. Can play - multiple top ten in the B&F finishes (yes, cr@p era). 7th in 2015 in an improving year. Versatile - tall and small in the back half and can pinch hit forward. Robust - rarely misses through injury. Passionate about the club and thoughtful about his leadership and legacy. Oozes loyalty which should be a great influence on the younger team members. Not to mention he is the first in demand free agent that we have had stay. Great clubs are built on true-believers like Col.
  4. Out-coached? Their loose man impacted contests and intercepted lots of inside 50"s, while ours often didn't make the contest. How hard is it to figure that out and go one on one? Our kicks inside 50 were generally deplorable making it hard for the forwards. Hogan had to take that dickface Hurely up the ground earlier. As a team, we seem to have zero self belief when challenged. With a hard tag on Jones, who else said "I will lead"? I believe we were told we will play in the finals in 2016. In what universe does anyone think we will be playing finals football next year. Absolutely miles off the middle still - no chance. Just can't wait for the spin. Please do tell us again how much we have improved Roosy.
  5. Fitpatrick is so far from the source of our loss but stupid people love a whipping boy don't they. Kept J White out of the game for about 80% and was OK pinch hitting in the ruck. Relative to his higher ranked tall defenders, he was, on balance, OK. TMac had a shocker and Dunn has recently been deplorable. Nah, stuff it. Let's start over. Morons.
  6. 13 goals from turnovers = suicide. Out-coached leaving Oxley alone sweeping. Hogan would have liked the coaching team to at least make him accountable.
  7. Plays well against us (rebounds well) - but hasn't had to beat much in the past.
  8. Run the goddam ball out. Stop kicking it to the zone they have set up 35 metres behind the blooy ball!!!
  9. Pretty simple measure and a fairly small data set. A couple of surprises after 6 rounds. Most expensive demon: AA Tom McDonald $381,000 to $500,000 (plus 24%) Impressive gains: Vanders $128,000 to $329,000 (plus 61%) Jesse Hogan $130,000 to $318,000 (plus 59%) Chris Salem $185,000 to $318,000 (plus 42%) Pretty good gains by Garland, Garlett, Brayshaw & Newton. Biggest Sliders: Watts $401,000 to $311,000 (minus 28%) Tyson $505,000 to $402,000 (minus 26%) Jones $580,000 to $481,000 (minus 21%) Other notable sliders include Jetta, Dunn, Vince & Jamar. Tyson & Jones surprised me a bit.
  10. We need more offensive focus. Our defence first mantra is easily planned for and easy to defend. Come on Roosy, they know how to defend. Introduce some chaotic attack FFS.
  11. Can't be bothered reading the whole thread. Grimes looks lost and lacks confidence. If you were upfield from him, you would not know what to do or where (or whether) to run.. MacKenzie must be a great bloke. But he wouldn't get a regular game at Carlton (my new benchmark for mediocrity). Wondering why they don't play through Watts more when he creates options. Do his team mates trust him in a tight contest? Newton poor today but still has credits. Vanders a steal at whatever we paid. Thought Michie was OK enough in the first half. How was the first quarter umpiring btw?
  12. I'm a big supporter but I'd be staggered if Watts is picked next week. Roos isn't going to put up with lapses in concentration and intensity. Garlett also let his team mates down badly with his poor set shot kicking. To the OP though, eveyrone should be tradeable for the right deal (Watts included). But if he keeps spacing out mid game like he did again on the weekend, I don't think he'll be much more than steak knives next trade period. And @Kali, who want Neal Bullen traded before playing a game, go pick up your toys and put them back in your cot, you peanut.
  13. Happily disagree with most here. 3 out of Collingwood, Carlton, St Kilda and Footscray will finish below us. Bombers unknown. Adelaide will struggle under their new control freak coach. Geelong will get old in the back half of the season - they'll will miss drive out of the midfield is my guess. I'm also not sold on the auto-ascention of the junior clubs. I am reasonably confident we will win 9 or more.
  14. Collingwood looked pretty ordinary today - bottom 6 in 2015. Coaching theories are like bumholes. Players make coaches.
  15. Don't know if H is a smoker. Do understand slander laws (generally you pedants!). Reckon this won't end well for Barrett.
  16. Lined him up. Elbow away from his side at impact. 4 weeks.
  17. Grimes plays. I reckon his "disposal issues" have been, largely, a result of having no first options upfield combined with the weight of captaincy. I'm happy to have him controlling our rebound 50's this year if everyone else does their job.
  18. JT is 24 or so. Slow but classy when fully fit. Great tackler and game thinker. Good overhead so a hard match up forward. Oooozes character. N'ah bugger it. We are all sick of supporting a crap team so let's get rid of him. My angle: (1) Trade for value but don't trade to free up a spot on the list or (2) hope (yes I know, it's slim) that he fully recovers and plays another hundred games at the same level as the first 80. I would keep him because he was given a [censored] sandwich by our club and never flinched. Plus he seems like a great bloke who would add to a (by then) winning culture (whatever the hell that means). HFF.
  19. Yep - I also felt this with both players. Reality is you don't want the wrong people around you when there is hard work to do. Both could play but neither would improve the team because their commitment was equivocal. If we paid overs to keep them, then the rest of the group suffers. Roos and co have made the best of their exits and probably engineered a win in the medium term.
  20. I'm taking this as most improved from disclosed form. Hogan, Newton and others have virtually none. I'm going with Dean Kent. Then Viv Michie.
  21. On the footage I've seen, Peter Wright is a gentle giant. Like others above, I can't believe that we would pass up on a quality mid for another "nice" young man. If available it must be Brayshaw and Petracca.
  22. Reporting in from Sydney. All you can hear at the SCG is fans chatting about anything but the game. Unless its a close game - then there is about 15 minutes of atmosphere. And at Homebush, you literally cannot hear yourself at any point over the ground announcer who seems to yell for the entire game. Through the breaks as well. Seriously, and it's the least relevant carp you can imagine. Infuriating. But please do come watch the Dee's up here this year. We need some support. And atmposphere.
  23. A Grader WYL - as a high forward (occassionally taking his bloke to the square). Keeper.
  24. Agree with the OP. The dog days are over. We will rise. Not all at once maybe. But we will rise significantly next year.
