Big time. Always been a fan, guy is a class above.

100%. If they think we want to spend a Sat night watching that tripe they have another thing coming.

Who's on the undercard for the Maynard fight?
-
Maybe they can just write down the answers for the rest of the round.

Absolutely pathetic effort. Sorry it's tomorrow.

Never pick an anytime goalscorer in a Saints match. They don't kick any

Absolutely pathetic

Soft as butter free. More overumpiring

Crybaby Hill go home

Glad to see this thread is cranking up as the game draws closer 😐 If we deliberately go out and hunt Maynard, I will know that our era is over and we aren't fair dinkum about winning anything anymore. All this 'square up' talk is so antiquated and pathetic. People demanding that we do it because we as a club 'bent over' and apparently let this happen? Bottom 4 club mentality, focus on football.

Well done North! Stone Cold stunner

Think we're missing his match day input for sure

SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody
layzie replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm with you @spirit of norm smith. My post is merely based on the hypothetical scenario that we change back tomorrow mixed with a bunch of sarcasm of course 🙃 I personally didn't have us top 4 this year and was impressed with Goody implementing the new style. I too think we've hardly seen enough of a sample size yet, I would be disappointed if we didn't stick with it and I'd be happy to persist with it at the expense of a perfect performance or 2 to be honest. There will be times when we will still go with a forward half contest game. As Binman said on the pod I also think we could see that this week due to the nature of the game. But at very least the gameplan needed tweaking and I hope we stick with it. -
Full credit to the guys for fronting up last night, it wasn't going to be an easy shift but your efforts are appreciated. Binman thanks for answering what would be the umpteenth question about the 'Training program'. I know your intentions get misunderstood and I know it gives you the [censored]. I've agreed with you a few times that loading is a factor so I don't deny it. I must admit I wrote this question too soon after the game ended. Pro tip: Remember to breathe before posting podcast questions after a big loss. I think many were eagerly awaiting your first sentence on the show this week (no pressure) and I think you got it spot on. We can bang on about old gameplans, new gameplans, personel, coaching but they are all moot points if we can't get to first base with the first fundamental of football, effort. It would be like buying a new surfboard and rocking up one time to the beach with when the surf was garbage and then wanting to go back to the old board. None of us know what the reason was for lack of effort and desire on the day but that was just it. Even a hamster needs to put in effort for the wheel to go round, our hamster was playing dead.

It would be good to see a 'Top 5 Goodwindees scoops of all time' post or news.com article.

SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody
layzie replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
A lot of calls to revert back to the old game style. Let's play hypothetical and say that we do that, these are the requirements from the fans: - No complaining when we constantly bomb it in or kick to pockets. Moneyball approach - No complaining about not moving the ball through the corridor enough. Can't turn over in bad areas. - No complaining about slow and patient build ups with possession - No complaining about long bombs getting cut off a lot when we play a good intercepting side. - No complaining that our forward line issues are highlighted more. - No calling for faster ball movement. We tried it, everyone hated it. We can go back to this style and it may give us a chance, just be prepared to accept what comes with it. -

Weren't you the guy who thought we were brilliant against Carlton? If there's one tiny little thing to come out of this it's that there was no illusion whatsoever with this result. No papering over cracks, no masking severe deficiencies, no feel good comeback to make people think we were better than we were, this was an unequivocal thrashing and everything is now laid bare. And don't talk it, walk it. Go right down to the next training session and tell them all how pathetic they are, I'm sure they would love to hear from you.
-
Absolutely no-one has been spared today and every single negative post from the last two decades that you could think of came out. We now question a guy that has played 1 game. The boot studder has to be next.

Think he cut it off once there was enough content.

No Naarm this week, just a plain old Melbourne curse
-
That top 8 really is pathetic.

Totally agree. And I know you're not doing this, but hearing people constantly pointing to complete outlier results to defend our team is a total waste of time. Whether it's Richmond having bad losses in their flag years, Collingwood being beaten by Hawthorn last year, the fact that we got smashed by 98 points then went on to play in a Grand final 25 years ago. This club and it's success in 2021 was built on a model and system that stacked the probability in our favour over the course of a game and season. To then go and cite these weirdo examples that are as rare as a day in Melbourne without roadworks doesn't really do anything for me but suggest that a minor miracle is required to get out of this. What are WE going to do about it, what happens next? That's what I'm interested in.
-
Maybe we should take some inspiration from it 😝

Was this always going to be a 'step backward to go forward' year? I can't say for sure whether the old game style or the new game style is the way to go but are the holes in our list and aging cattle alone enough to say that this was always going to be a pivot season? A year getting the red and blueprint down and a few new acquisitions who can compliment this could see us with a better shot at it in 2025. Is this too optimistic? What are your thoughts?
