  1. It was the best year of his career bar none. The intent he played with off HB and some of the crazy good efforts in 50-50 contests at pivotal moments really helped set the tone for our season. Incidentally it was the round 8 game against Sydney at the G that I remember so vividly when it comes to Hunty's season. It was a real tough game and there was a real question about whether MFC would step up or step down in those last 5 mins and he had about 2 or 3 'all-in' commitment moments that could have gone either way. It was that moment I knew that our club was fair dinkum and our mentality was set. Very much a crucial part of our success.
  2. You'd think the commentators would bring it up in a game! 😉
  3. This was the most fumbly Melbourne performance I've seen for a while. Obviously in our efforts to clear out of the middle we weren't clean but it was more than that. It seemed like every time there was an opportunity to move the ball fast there was something that would slow us down whether it was a handball to someone's shoe laces, a guy fumbling an easy receive and being forced to mop up, or a fairly routine intercept mark being dropped and gifting the ball back. We always just seemed a step short. The Lions on the other hand looked so slick with the ball in hand and did all the little things well. How does something like this happen? There has been some talk about the conditions being humid and slippery, would that really be the only reason considering this is a deck we looked silky smooth on only 6 months ago?
  4. Couldn't be an Yze without a bit of X-Factor.
  5. Didn't get to pay close attention to him on Fri, is it the off the mark movements that he's restricted in or did he not cover his usual territory as well? Or both?
  6. At least be breaking even. Get enough decent first use of the footy, lock ball in the forward line.
  7. If T-Mac is healthy keep him in.
  8. When you have a side as young as this you want to see effort. I didn't see much of them early on but there was not a lot going on after half time.

    Who do we get?
  10. It's a bit of a joke yeah.
  11. There's no history that we can't remake.
  12. I really hate how this and the tanking saga were just left to fester and people got the wrong idea.
  13. I guess trading Hunt is suddenly a mistake now yeah?
  14. Hawks are riding a rickety billy cart of doom all by themself.
  15. Tim Kelly has played alright for a change.
  16. I thought GWS were too good for bottom 4 but a few injuries and they could be well headed there.
  17. We're playing the long game.
  18. I'm uncomfortable with undefeated teams. Especially Essendon if they go 3-0 next week.
  19. How can a Melbourne side be smashed 20-10 in centre and 40-22 in stoppage clearances. Was it: - The structural loss of Max - The emotional loss of Max and the leadership he brings - Something else - Combination of all
  20. It's got the Leppitsch about it doesn't it.
  21. That's a bit rude from ChatGPT telling you how to do your job.
  22. Should have changed the tip to Suns. Got 1 so far.
  23. That first quarter was played at breakneck speed and I'm not sure but it looked like there was a slightly slippery deck. It was chaos and to Brisbane's credit they got the jump they needed and also to start the second half. Credit to the Lions they responded with the intensity that they were meant to bring last week. No excuses but there was a bizarre set of circumstances in this game that went against us, it had the feeling of Freo at the G last year. If we're going to bring performances and in particular contested ball performances like that then I'm glad it's now and not later in the season. The big debate is chaos vs control and I do wonder if in that first quarter we could have tried to slow it down more with slower movement. I know we love the faster play but there will be times to control the tempo. Very hard to turn on and off like a tap though.
