Adelaide will laugh that offer off, I reckon they would have no interest in ANB. Sparrow was only pick 27 2 years ago and hasn't really show much. We might be able to bundle up Petty and Sparrow our 4th round pick for Crows second round and 4th round pick. The Crows will get Tyson Edwards son who by all accounts is a top 20 pick, so they will be looking at trading their second round picks out and get enough points in later picks to cover.
-
Sorry, got him mixed up with Nietschke, I knew we took 2 kids from SA in that draft and Chandler as a rookie.
-
Petty, Jordan and Sparrow all South Australians, I'm sure Adelaide we be on the hunt for any SA player at other clubs
-
The balance is important, we are most likely only going to take 3 picks in the draft and any 18-23yo at other clubs of any ability will cost us overs. Are we in a premiership window? Using the old premiership clock I reckon we are at 8.30PM, we are still 2-3 players away from being a premiership contender. Our priority is strengthening our mid field and our forward line really need another high pressure exciting forward, plus another developing Key Forward. Has Viney signed yet?
-
Have to admit the changes have left me a little flat and very uninspired. Pickett out I understand first year player but he brings some level of excitement to our side, ANB is plain boring and offers little. Smith, I think can play needs a period to adjust to AFL speed, Fritsch/Hannan same but different, Fritsch is a marking forward that can kick goals, Hannan offers a lot more on the defensive side, a lot less on the attacking. Harmes/AVB both try hard, lack the decision making and disposal skills. If we keep the Swans in the game, I'm worried that youthful confidence will beat us, they have a lot of talented younger players with some seasoned mids that can shut our midfield down.
-
Didn't the club set up a father daughter academy last year.
-
Outside fritsch, the other 3 we know what we get poor disposal and decision making. Bedford, Chandler, bennell, hunt seem to be on the outer, Lockhart has been ok, not sure why he is out. Jetta I understand looks like a player that went on 1 year to many.
-
Are the colts going back to U19s next season like the NAB league in Victoria?
-
Injury management, give him Sydney off, means he has a 9 day break till Fremantle game, then a 5 day break to GWS and most likely 7 days break to Essendon.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if Max Gawn doesn't play, play Preuss V Sydney and give Max a full week break for Fremantle. Hannan goes out for Fritsch Then it depends on Hibbard fitness, you would expect Lockhart or even Jetta(bit more experience) to come in. Baker for AVB or Jones, think this is unlikely
-
NGA priority access changed, I wonder if this will also include the Northern state academies.
-
Rivers will be great, think Sheppard from wce but better
-
Lucky I went to the bottle shop and stocked up today. Ugly game, take the win, turnover still a massive issue
-
I dont mind gawn, Rivers Brown and Jones, but omac, Wagner, we know what they offer, we need speed and forward pressure. No idea what Bedford has done, 1 half decent game and not sited since.
-
Better get to the bottle shop going to need a few drinks tomorrow night
-
I wouldn't mind seeing Chandler again, I thought he was OK in the couple of games he played last year. Would be happy to see either Bedford or Chandler though, maybe both and Spargo can get out
-
I just don't see him as that high pressure forward, more a hit up forward. Also we know what we get with Hunt, 1-2 games then out of the side, lets try someone different
-
Our main issue is the ball coming out of our forward line with no pressure. Non of those three will change that. Coaches rate Smith high and they might give him a go up forward, but I would rather see Bedford or Chandler, to give us 3 small forwards Spargo, Pickett and one of them to create pressure
-
So according to SEN rumour mill and confirmed ins from the club we have the following Out Tmac Harmes Fritsch Sparrow In Jones Gawn 2 spots to fill, Rivers will get one, would like to see a pressure forward Bedford or Chandler get the other

Tom Lynch Incident (incl. Dimma vs The Ox)
drdrake replied to buck_nekkid's topic in Melbourne Demons
The smugness of success, jeez I wish we had this. Basically they are the best team in the comp, they are winning so they can say/do what they want. As much as I hate Richmond, credit to them whatever they did to change that losing culture at their club has been a massive achievement. Could it be as simple as an ex Melbourne Coach that was footy manager at Geelong/Collingwood through their success now Footy Manager at Richmond. Get the right person running your Footy department and thinks might happen -
Clubs can't make any decision until they know what there list size will look like. I'm sure they have been told informally but they need to announce this. My pick is around 36-38 players that will include rookies, but clubs will still be able to have 1-2 Category B players. We currently sit at 45 including our Category B players I think that is just 1 at the moment, so we could be looking at 6-8 players less next year. At those list numbers makes it hard to field a VFL side

Interested to understand what happens to the rest of the clubs in the NEAFL, do they go back to the QFL and NSWFL, if that is the case the Northern state sides are better off just aligning themselves with clubs in these comps or maintaining sides in these. Can't understand this in a time the AFL cost cutting why they would look at increasing costs to a second tier comp for travel. The other thing they skimmed over is the Academies, these are old fashion zones. The Western Bulldogs get access to a top 3 rated pick being compared to Buddy Franklin, they have not developed this kid, they just signed him to their NGA as he is a part of their zone. Many other clubs have benefited the same and will. Gold Coast has their Queensland Zone and I think Darwin as well, they get access to every kid in their Queensland zone and the Aboriginal kids in Darwin. I like moving 18's to 19's it gives kids another year if they miss out on the first draft to develop and stay in the system, you will find in a couple of years a lot of kids will be drafted as 19 year olds instead of 18 year olds, clubs will let players develop another year. Top end talent won't change but your late 2nd picks and there after you will find will become the older kids

One thing I've noticed a lot the past 3-4 weeks is our players running ahead of the ball looking for the easy touch instead of getting front and square of the contest. It looks great is we can win the ball at the contest as the flick over to an open player looks great. But when we don't win the footy or turn it over at the contest, we are out of position and have no chance to defend the ball getting out.
-
Fact on current form Harmes no matter what position he plays shouldn't be in the side. OK the coach is trying to make him something he isn't, if that is the role the club has him pinned for and he can't execute that role bring someone in that can.
-
Moving the same players to different positions won't improve our side, you might get 1-2 games of positive but essentially the same underlying issues will re-appear. Forget Viney to Forward line Harmes to Tagger Tmac to Defense Lockhart to Forward Bandaid moves, lets see what is on our list. Bedford, Rivers, Jordan, Chandler, Baker and get games into Bennell, no more Wagners, Hunt they deliver more if the same as what we have in at the moment. Preuss can't play forward, Weiderman is better closer to goals if you play Preuss and Gawn this forces Weiderman up the ground. This is the issue with Tmac, he is better as our deep forward he is lost up the ground that is why Jackson and Weiderman work well, Jackson needs to be running and offers more up the ground than deep forward. Give Jones the week off keep him for our cairns games. My team Lockhart May Tomlinson Hibbard Lever Salem Langdon Oliver AVB Petracca Hannan Melksham Pickett Weiderman Fritsch Gawn, Brayshaw, Viney Rivers, Bedford, Tmac, Jordan
