  1. Pavlich was on so much money outside of football in WA, he was everywhere and Hogan would get the same in WA. Which to me might be one reason he does stay, going back to Perth everyone will want him, he doesn't strike me as a media type of guy and would rather surf with his mates than do this. WA is a fish bowl, it really can break good players
  2. Nasher, unlike a lot of others on this site, I don't see Hogan as the be all end all type. Would love to see him play at Melbourne for the next 8 odd years but any doubt we need to do what is best for the club. We wouldn't be able to match the Fremantle offer, lets not kid ourselves on that. To me if there is any risk trade him on our terms and not risk getting a buddy like pick that Hawthorn received.
  3. Is he a free agent in 2019? If so I would consider trading him at years end if there is any chance of him leaving at the end of 2019. Ideally we get him to sign a 3 year contact extension by end of the year, but if not Fremantle hand over 2 first round draft picks and he is yours. We have a bloke developing nicely at Casey that will be banging down the door in 2019.
  4. The government has basically built facilities for every other AFL club that they take ownership of, look at the facility for Collingwood the massive social/function room over looking the oval, imagine the cash they bring in from that before and after matches plus functions through out the year.
  5. No we won't, as I stated in my post interstate clubs are crying to the AFL for more home games at the MCG. The AFL doesn't want Richmond/Collingwood/Hawthorn playing to many interstate clubs at the MCG all about attendances. Dump Darwin, get Adelaide or WCE at the G, play Port or Freo in Alice.
  6. Yep, same with me. In fact if we get the property near Jolimont station as suggested, and if we own this building cafe, bar, medical suites equals $$$$$ through commercial rent. Darwin, we would get 25-30K at a home game V Fremantle at the MCG. We would get 30-40K V Adelaide this year at the MCG, I think we are past the concern that we would get under 20K for a home game like we have in the past V interstate clubs. The AFL would like us to play these clubs at the MCG as they all complain they don't get enough games there.

My Take on Pert leaving Collingwood is either Pert or Buckley had to go to keep the supporters happy. It is easier to replace Pert than Buckley. On the Peter Jackson being excluded from the call, his job would be to present options for the board to choose, the end of the day Jackson isn't the one that has to work with his replacement. Is it a good or bad appointment we will know in 3 years time,

Wouldn't like to see this kid in the West Coast Forward line he would dominate playing with Kennedy and Darling
  9. Spot on, pick 29 and 35 to Bne for 19. Or 28, 29 and 45 to Gold Coast for 20 and 22
  10. Adelaide should back what their Captain put out there about Lever going for Money and not Success. 2017 and 18 pick plus 2nd this year for Lever and Adelaides 1st round 2018, Walker is confident they are better than us in 2018 so lets make it interesting as a bit of a side bet
  11. I know one bloke that will be terrified, a big full forward that has a player that can hit him lace out going to a bloke that can't hit a target except if he is kicking a goal
  12. Really, the guy is a solid defender Pick 10 is more than enough. I reckon Pick 10 and 28 for pick 18 and Lever
  13. Agree, our Tall defenders are flakey at best and we don't have 1 that is a rookie. Frost is a monster and needs to learn to use his strength, Oscar is Oscar bit like Tom we never know what we will get so we need a high quality in Lever plus these guys getting better.
  14. Is he 200cm, take a mark and can kick
  15. Tall Defenders on our list T Mac, O Mac and Frost, that is really it. We have two areas to fill a tall defender and second ruck/Forward, this bloke fills one of these voids.
  16. That last half of the season in 1998, is still the best period of football for me as a Melbourne supporter, I only started to follow the club start of the 90s, didn't have any interest in the VFL prior to then. The games against West Coast, Richmond, then finals V Adelaide and St Kilda before North got us really was an extremely exciting period with the Wiz central to this
  17. We are only ahead if our young players continue to improve. We had a young team in 2010 and we had all the hype around us after knocking of Sydney. 2011 started OK but we entered another rebuild in 2012, followed by another in 2014. We need potential to become Actual, the next 2 years we can't go backwards
  18. Fremantle may look at moving him on. There window is shut for 5-8 years so Fyfe at 25yo would fetch them 2 first round picks and a bit of salary cap to chase WA players like Hogan and Cripps. You add those two plus McCarthy, you are starting to build a good spine for 8-10 years. If he is non committal as a club you need to look to move him on. If you crystal ball free agency there is no guarantee that the AFL will keep compensation for clubs that lose players so clubs need to look at trading players out before they hit free agency if that player won't commit to the club. I still think free agency needs to effect the club getting the player, for example Frawley, Hawthorn should lose their first round pick, the structure now means top clubs can maintain youth whilst topping up their list.
  19. That is something that stood out with all our 4 picks, each have had to overcome something to get drafted. To me it shows that they had the hunger to work hard to get themselves in a position to get onto an AFL list
  20. To me he moves and plays like Dane Swan, has that strength and step plus good over head, when I saw the footage of him this is who I think he plays like
  21. Looking at our team we still have holes but getting close. I would like following trades, to start Howe and 4th round pick to GWS for Hampton and GWS 2nd round pick That GWS second Round pick to Gold coast for Zac Smith and their 4th round pick This gives us first 2 picks to offer around for a mid or keep them and get Danger as a free agent but I reckon Hawthorn might have him. Also would try to get Tabenar from Fremantle or the ruck they stole from us.
  22. Our midfield, we finally look like we are heading in the right direction. We are quick to forget some quality players on our list, I see most mention Tyson, Viney, Salem, JKH and then throw up Riley and Michie, don't forget about Toumpas he is class and Trengove, this foot injury may be the best thing to happen to him. All these blokes are young under 23 years old, add in Kent that once he gets he increases his running capacity is a ideal wing man

2011 just finished off an unbelievable period of trading and drafting blunders.
  24. He is the type of defender we need a quick hbf type that can kick run and carry defensive side got better this year and will most likely over time push onto a wing. Don't be so sure on the return to wa
  25. Small forwards we have Davey, Jetta, Tapscott, Byrnes, Kent, Bail, Blease, before we draft any small forwards we need to get rid of the 8 on our list. You will find once we start contolling the footy more, have more inside 50m our small forwards will be at the feet of our tall forwards. At the moment they are working to far up the ground and are usually the ones delivering into our forward 50m arc. You get a midfield that can transit the ball effectively the small forward can stay where they need to be.
