From pick 30 on is going to be interesting, Sydney, Collingwood, North and the Bulldogs would be using the points from there picks to cover F/S and NGA picks, you will find some picks will move 5-8 picks forward. Picks 26, 32, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 44, 45, 47, 48, 49 could all be used as points rather than picks.

I think we will be the last game of the Easter Round, rather than the first game of the Anzac round.
-
He killed us in Round 1 this year. Could be a good back up for Milkshake

No its not nsw and qld teams get priority access to any one in their academy programs

MELBOURNE’S NEXT GENERATION FOOTBALL ACADEMY
drdrake replied to jayceebee31's topic in Melbourne Demons
All clubs have developed the next generation academy's and father son, father daughter academy's. There is massive advantage to clubs now to get top line kids through their academy's -
The best thing about picks we 54 and 61ish, basically these picks will move 8 to 10 spots forward as the pies, north, bulldogs and Sydney have stockpiled picks between 30 and 50 for academy and fs picks.

Recruiting a 3rd tall forward to find another 50 goals?
drdrake replied to John Demonic's topic in Melbourne Demons
Petracca, it wont come from one player it will be a combination of players -
It removes the distraction of will he wont he stay for the next 12 months. We get May, Preuss, KK pick 23 for Hogan Kent and Tyson. I reckon we have identified holes and filled them

West Coast Eagles will be sitting back laughing their heads off at Freo. They know they have a team which will be top 8 for the next 5 odd years, young midfield group. They can't wait to get their hooks into Hogan as soon as Kennedy is done, Hogan and Darling set up the Eagles for a couple more potential flags.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
drdrake replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
Or May stays committed to GCS for one more year and we get him in next trade period and costs us nothing -
I think 5 and 23 plus swap next years first round pick gets this deal done.
-
Deal with that after we have 2 flags in the bank and we all couldn't care if he goes for pick 100

Peter Bell is a very smart man, he knows that he has to look like taken the hard line approach but also knows he can't walk away from this trade week with just Lobb, he wants Lobb and Hogan to show the Footy world how good he is. His Ego will play into our hands at some stage, he wants two prized recruits to create some hype around the Dockers for 2019 Also Ross Lyon can't build a list from bottom up, at Sydney, St Kilda and Fremantle is was about adding experience players to improve your list, look at his track record not much development of kids.
-
The game will be that fast that you need these big hit up forwards as outlets then get the ball inside 50m where the pressure will need to be.
-
I was open to Trading Hogan for the right deal, 2 first round picks but with the rule changes announced yesterday he is the ideal forward. The CHF role will need to have a massive endurance motor as the game is being built for a fast transition from defense to forward and clubs will need hard running forwards hitting up and getting back. For us to have TMac and Hogan with big tanks would be a massive advantage with Weiderman playing a deeper forward role

Looks like we will stockpile some late picks to offer up as a bundle to get pick upgrades. Shame to see Kent go but he can't get his body right

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS
drdrake replied to What's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great Result, get rid of Tyson, to cover a massive hole on our list. With Bradke as the devolping ruck, I still think we will look at Rookie draft another ruck from state league competition. -
Agree, they want both and need picks. Fremantle needs to decide if the want to play hardball on a midfielder that wants out or get the trade done that will see them land Lobb and Hogan. I reckon Peter Bells ego will get in the way.
-
What we also did was play Max Gawn like an old fashion ruckman a kick behind the play and it worked really well until the prelim and that explains why we are going after Preuss

MELBOURNE’S NEXT GENERATION FOOTBALL ACADEMY
drdrake replied to jayceebee31's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm happy with the points system, all I'm saying is you have to have the players and if you do you are at a great advantage not only getting young talent but also through trading you first round pick, as mentioned they basically get the two players from Port, plus a player that would have been a top 10 pick for pick 11 and change, massive win for North -
Yes, like with Frawley for us the AFL gave us overs instead of a priority pick. The AFL need a competitive Gold Coast they will get overs.

MELBOURNE’S NEXT GENERATION FOOTBALL ACADEMY

I like the point system and hope one day the introduce the same system for free agent so clubs receiving players have to give up something. NSW and QLD teams still have an advantage as they basically have access to the best players in their allocated Zone, where as all other teams only have priority access to Aboriginal and kids of a Multi cultural decent. My point is if you have good kids coming through your NGA or F/S you will be at a massive advantage as you can trade away you first round picks and as long as you have late picks to cover the cost of the players you are right, means you can be really aggressive through trade week knowing that you have good kids coming in. Look at North, they have a kid coming in through NGA he is a top 10 pick, they have traded first round pick to Port for two players, once trading is done you will find they will stock pile late second round and third round picks to cover the points for him and I think the F/S they will also get. Clubs are smart they all have FS academy's now along with NGA because they know it is a massive advantage if they have a few gems they can get. -

MELBOURNE’S NEXT GENERATION FOOTBALL ACADEMY
drdrake replied to jayceebee31's topic in Melbourne Demons
It was brought in by the AFL due to the advantage Qld and Sydney teams had been getting from there Academy. Vic/WA/SA clubs are still limited to priority access to kids with in their academy's that are from a multi-cultured( one parent needs to be born overseas)or Aboriginal decent. We are see already clubs that have access to either Father son picks or good Academy kids are trading away first round picks. Sydney did it, North are in a great spot this year along with Collingwood, the Pies have an Academy player that would be a top 12 in this years draft plus Craig Kelly's son which is 20-25 pick, they will be a club active in pick swaps to get both these players.
