Will the cost of running the 2 be higher than our current MCG/Junction/Anywhere in Victoria summer training arrangements.

Jack Watts - Confirmed #1 Pick in 2008 Draft - Booyah!!!
drdrake replied to Tex's topic in Melbourne Demons
If he doesn't go in this years draft I hope he will enjoy not playing AFL until 2011. -
Trade talk is rubbish we have wish lists of players we would like to trade for but if no deals can be done no trades will be done. The goal of trading is to strenghten your list, we will be in a good position to target a 21-23 yo this year to fit into the MFC recruiting policy at the moment. Names thrown up Warnock, Mundy, Prismol and co are no stars and will not be a stars so do we trade for a re-cycled footballer with the possibility of lossing draft picks or do we us all our picks and hopefully draft a star. IMO we should used the pre-season draft which we will have pick 1-3 to get the best available 21-23 yo and use our full 4-5 draft picks which will include 3 in the top 20 what order we will find out in 9 weeks plus a mid 30 and 50 pick to get another 5 18-19 yo and hopefully 3-4 will be good 10 year players for the MFC. Talk of trading Bruce, Sylvia and Green you would only do this if by trading them will strenghten our list, to me this would have to be a late first round early second or a player of equal ability with a better upside to even consider, would clubs give this up for these three who knows. Also talk of trading players that have little to no impact on a game or can't secure a spot in the bottom teams starting 18 is wishful thinking.

Jack Watts - Confirmed #1 Pick in 2008 Draft - Booyah!!!
drdrake replied to Tex's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am jumping on this kids band wagon for the MFC, we need key forwards and Watts looks to be at this stage the best key forward in the draft. I think he has kicked 4, 2 and now 5 goals tall good kick. I'm looking forward to heading to Casey in a couple of weeks to watch all the best u18's go around. We need a key target up forward I would love to see this forward six in three years Aussie Watts Newton Bate Miller Maric With a strong back 6 Grimes Frawley Warnock Garland Rivers Petterd -
Our biggest hole we have to fill is key forwards. We need to find a Goal kicking key forward to replace Neitz and Robbo. Newton is in the same mould as Robbo and would be more suited to the secondary forward role. Rucks again over-rated unless they can play in other positions such as Key Forward. That is our big problem White and Jamar can only play on ball PJ can play forward but needs to hold his contested marks. Our first three picks must be the best talls available.

Rubbish post, lets just turn all our players to stoppers, who many players in your starting 18 can you play as stoppers and to be honest Dunn has done 3 good jobs. If we play Petterd, Bartram, Mcdonald and bring Grimes in as well thats 4 players that will be better at this role than Dunn. At least Ling played in the midfield before he changed roles and lets face it it is easy for Ling to stop players when you have Ablett, Bartell, Cory and co winning the footy.

How about we stop looking for the easy option. How about we get 25,000-30,000 MFC members plus 10,000 MCC members to attend our games, that 35-40K against interstate clubs add another 10K for games against the dogs and roos, 20K Tigers, Bombers, Saints, Hawks, Cats, Blues and 40K Pies. That solves our ground issue we play in front of 35-80K week in week out all home games at the MCG plus we can more than likely get another 3-4 games there as well. It is up to every MFC supporter not just the board, Admin and football departments but every single one of us. We are a part of this club we get to the games and barrack, we get to cheer the goals boo the umpires yell at our opponents, sing when we win and be upset if we lose. Stuff Canberra and Casey we belong at the MCG, like Jimmy I want to sit in the stands with my kids kids watching the dees at the G and by looking for quick fix solutions like selling home games will not help us to acheive this, short term it will assist with our debt but long term it takes us further away from the MCG.
-
I think it would cost us Green plus pick 1 to get two top 10 picks, in other words we have no chance. I think we will be looking for another pick around 20-25 what will get that Col Sylvia I'd like to keep him but really he may be our best trade bait. I doubt we will win more than 5 games so we will finish between 14-16th, to get 4 picks in the top 25 IMO is what we will be looking for. In what order only time will tell.

I cant believe people are happy for Dunn to be developed as a tagger, rubbish he is a forward and if he cant play the role he was drafted for get rid of him. We will have on our list next year Bartram, Grimes, Cheny, Petterd, McDonald and Bode maybe that can play that stopping role. Dunn is a 192cm forward when we a crying out for a key forward he is being played in a stopping role. Frawley is the one I'm interested in. I want to see if he can play that key defensive role. He will get beaten by strength but lets see what he has got.
-
Bring in Cheny for Bode, Valenti for Yze. I liked the look of Cheny at Sandy on Saturday might be a little to early for him to debut but he hit targets tackled well and got a bit of the footy three things most our senior players can't do.

Before everyone get's stuck into Cale Morton?
drdrake replied to Neita3000's topic in Melbourne Demons
Drop Morton and bring in who. I'd rather Morton running around for MFC learning how to play at this level then players that won't be on our list next year. To me it looked like he was slipping when he kicked. -
We need key Forwards. If Naitanui can play key forward get him if not use our first pick to get someone that can. Ruckman are over rated key forwards win you matches. I agree our Midfield needs some pace but we have enough to get by but we don't have any high quality key forward on our list except Robbo and Newton and Zomer are the only developing Key forwards we have and Newton will never be a key forward more like a FP or HFF.

Forget the MCC members, we need to generate more general or premium members. We can't live on if only the MCC MFC supporters brought memberships we would have 40,000 members, guess what most don't and more than like wont buy both. We need 30-35,000 members above any MCC $40.00 membership this is great and thanks to the MCC/MFC members who do buy both. Develop our supporter base outside the of the MCC members, we will still get 10,000 MCC members to most games but we need 30,000 other supporter to attend and buy memberships. Only then when we have 40,000 MFC supporters at every game we can get more revenue from our ground deal and other avenues.

We don't need him to be a shut down player we need to to be the forward that he was drafted for. My concern is that when in the midfield he can run all day but when up forward he doesn't have the same work ethic. If he can run in the midfield he should be able to run any CHB of there legs. Dunn and Bate should be our hard running HFF. I don't mind the look of Dunn Miller and Bate accross our half forward line all can run and present and Dunn seems to have a good goal sense. We are wasting our time with him as a defensive midfielder, we will have Grimes, Bartram, Petterd, Cheny for that role.
-
Good to see a young key forward kicking goals. Zomer is big and can kick goals, besides Newton who I don't think is a key forward more a HFF, Zomer is the only young key forward we have.
-
As stated in a previous post you only trade when there is something to gain. Trading players like Sylvia, Bruce and Green for late second or third round picks which lets face it thats all we would be offered will not benefit the club. Unfortuantely besides Mclean, Davey and Bate we don't have anyone on our list that will get us another first round pick. Rivers hasn't played for 2 years spell him for the rest of the season and get him right. And for those who continue to bring up we need a ruck get over it rucks are over rated, one maybe two have influence on the game outside of the ruck contest. WE NEED KEY FORWARDS, Neitz gone, Robbo ?, Newton big ?, Miller hard worker but limited, Bate more Hard running than Key player, Dunn must be a limited as a forward for us to continue to play him in the midfield. Who are are Key forwards? Or even developing key forwards Newton and Zomer in the seconds at Sandy are the only two.

Why we must land a big name player this summer
drdrake replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
Do what the Tassie Hawks have done pay 92.5% get the money in the bank so when these young players become stars we have room in our cap to fit them in. In 5 years time we will have a premiership a brownlow medalist 5 all Australians we need room to keep the team together. Time to develop our own big name player no quick fix another year after this of pain before the march up the ladder commences. -
You only trade when you can get a benefit from trading. Gone Retiring- Neitz, Holland, Yze, Whelan De-list Weetra, CJ, Bode Offer for trade and what is min I would accept Dunn late second round pick top 35 pick Newton Early second round pick say top 30 pick Bell Late second round pick top 40 pick Sylvia top 20 pick Bruce top 25 pick Green Top 25 pick I'm not saying trade all those players but if a club was to offer a pick as per the above you would have to consider it.

Isn't Maric playing school footy? My Team Bell Warnock Garland Green Rivers Frawley Davey Mclean Morton Bruce Miller Bate Aussie Holland Sylvia White McDonald Jones PJ Valenti Buckley Yze In Rivers Davey Holland Valenti Out Moloney Bartram Robbo Dunn
-
No point playing him as a forward if we can't get the ball inside 50.
-
Certainly be there, we have had 10 years of fairly good success you can't abandon your team because they are losing.

Jack Watts - Confirmed #1 Pick in 2008 Draft - Booyah!!!
drdrake replied to Tex's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wanted Key Forwards and if this kid is the best one get him -
Not good, all the best Robbo. Time to play Dunn as a key forward, he is not a midfielder and was drafted as a forward. It is time to see if this first round pick can play.
-
6. McDonald 5. Sylvia 4. Warnock 3. Mclean 2. Garland 1. Green
-
On Jack Grimes, its almost mid year do you think the club is better off not playing him this year and ensure his body is 100% for next season. We don't have a good record with our first round picks staying fit.
