I have never been to worried about Tom staying or going and had believed the club will win either way. The next step is getting the compensation we deserve but I'm starting to feel that we may be shafted by the mighty AFL. I'm hoping for a mid and late first round pick but my gut is starting to say we will end up with late first round and maybe late second round pick if the latter happens then we have been totally screwed by the AFL. I remember last year they released compensation pretty much the same day as the signing announcements, does anyone know when we will be advised of this.
-
Because our midfield stinks and he is one of the best midfielders in the competition.
-
Wouldn't this be great Mick Maltshake signs on for coach after the finals for 5 years, Scott Pendlebury signs up from 2013 for 4 years.
-
We should take all the players of the banner it is cursed, have a look every player up there has been injured for a long period or struggled in 2012.
-
Good luck Tom you will need it, get ready for a heavy tag each week and a number of 100 point pumpings over the next three years, in fact you will be lucky to get with in 10 goals of anyone for the next 12 months. As for the MFC we move on, we now seek the compensation we deserve for losing the number 1 pick from 2 years ago, we use this to continue to improve our list whether it is through senior players our more young players. The end of the day Tom did what is best for Tom and the MFC now has to do what is best for the MFC

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
drdrake replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
From what i have read and the little I have seen of Jack it looks like he plays like Mark Murphy only harder. -
There will be no risk taking on a unknown like Bailey was. I has stated all along my fealing is we have a list and we are working down the list Malthouse was the number 1, Clarkson 2, Lyon 3 and if we can't land one of these we will then have a list of assistant coaches that we will approach, Neeld, Sanderson, Brown, Burns and the bloke from Geelong now at Essendon in fact both of them. This is where our coach will come from.
-
But you can use over a few years, I would offer this pick up and a player to try and get one of the 17yo. If we have a bad year next year it could be a top 8 pick. It would be good to be able to draft a 17yo and get them playing at Casey with Jack Viney next year.
-
I would like Moloney, he strikes me as a guy that would walk up to a team mate grab him by the throat and tell him he is letting the team down. Brad Green had the lead from the front attitude unfortunately his form was woeful, we need an in your face do as I say person.

Don't forget Tom has an injury that will need on going management, he has every right to visit and ensure that the facilities will be AFL standard. Tom if you are about money I can save you an airfare, taxi or parking at the airport and going then sitting in a car for another hour and a half. I suggest you go visit your Mum and when you have finished drop into Casey Fields, the facilities at Casey will be the same as GWS. Then come back into town drop past the MFC boardroom take a good look at the MCG because if you go to GWS you will be lucky to play one game per year there in front of 19,000 people, then go back to Casey again imagine 800 people watching a Casey game at that will be a home game for GWS. Anyway I'm happy with what ever is the outcome, would love to keep Tom but I will be happy if we get two first round picks that we may be able to use to target needed players over the next 3 years or use to get one of the 17yo on offer this year I'm sure GWS would be interested in Bate or Warnock plus one of these picks.
-
Which Club us or GWS. I wouldn't imagine that the MFC would be putting this deadline on Scully.
-
This would mean the club already has some idea of the fixture and we have 6 interstate games. We don't get a Darwin game next season so we will have 11 home games in Melbourne, hopefully for the clubs sake we can play at least 6 home games against Victoria based clubs.
-
To be honest that is not a bad return for a club with poor form and 7 home games against interstate clubs including a 7,000 attended game in the NT.

Great signing Rhys Palmer hasn't got a kick in two years and Has had knee problems.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - 2011 Season Wrap Edition
drdrake replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm starting to think peoples expectations where to high for this season. I agree the way we lost was very bad but this had more to do with our game plan and structure we just couldn't stop teams scoring against us which means we had an offernsive game plan with no defensive structure. Our players are great at running forward and really bad at running into defense. I have posted this a couple of times we have to much reliance on players that have played under 50 games. Our senior players are front runners that play well against weaker opposition. Dermie was right we have 2 big bodied mid-fielders in Jones and Moloney and Jones rarely contested the centre bounce and was usually found on the outside of stoppages. Our midfield comprised of Trengove, McKenzie, Gysberts, Scully, Morton with Moloney and Jones with Sylvia coming in on a part time basis. Our forward line is made up of Jurrah, Petterd, Howe, Watts with Green and Sylvia Martin and Jamar rested and we also had Gawn up there. None of our small forwards had any impact and this is one area at the start of the season I thought we had strength. Our backline has a bit more seniors in it with Rivers, MacDonald, Bartram, Frawley and Garland but we still has Blease, Strauss, Grimes, Nicholson, Tapscott and we did struggle to stop the mid size to small forwards kicking goals against us Ebert highlighted this on Sunday. When you have over half your team every week that has played less than 50 games and you really only have 5 half decent senior players playing well but inconsistant in Jones, Moloney, Sylvia, Rivers and Frawley your team is going to be up and down. What we saw is Trengove, Watts will be stars, Gysberts, McKenzie, Blease, Howe, Tapscott, Martin, Jurrah, Scully are going to be good players. We once again were teased by the match winning abilities of Col Sylvia hopefully the new coach can get this out of him on a regular basis. We have a star Full Back in Frawley. Some of our performances were very very bad, but I'm still confident with more games and the right coach we will have a very good 2012. -
The market doesn't drop $7.00 due to bets totally $130. Francis Leach should consult with the Ox before he says this.
-
I would be happy to trade him to Carlton for Hampson and maybe swap our third round picks.
-
There will me a lot of things going through Tom's head, the first will be, Thats a lot of Money, then it will be That's a lot of Money and once he gets over that thought you start thinking about your team mates and don't forget Tom would have grown up with a number of players on our list he will have close relationships with a number of them. These relationships are the only real thing that may keep him at our club. I have no idea if he is going or staying but it is a lot of money.
-
maybe someone with Sydney links to create a distraction this week
-
Herald sun reporting Lyon backed in from $9 to $2 over the past 24hrs. Thats a lot of $300 dollar bets
-
Or a very large bet on someone.
-
You don't need to be sherlock holmes to work this one out, we are getting thumped he is playing well at Casey and can't get a game. You can include Adam Maric to this and it wouldn't supprise me if Matt Bate and Lyndon Dunn will be in the same boat.
-
I think Watts had a run of 6-10 games mid year where he was very good and others around him very poor. He tired over the last 4-5 weeks but that was to be expected, I'm still amazed how hard he works through a match and respect to him this was one area in 2010 that was letting him down.
-
I have said this all along GWS is in huge trouble. If the 4 players are correct Palmer, Ward, Davis and Scully get ready for the AFL/VFL record books to have a huge year. Our loss to Geelong will be a good result for GWS. It seems the only players they can get are from bottom 8 clubs and they are not getting the top line players they need. At least Gold Coast built a good midfield and added three good defenders. If Tom decides to go good luck to him, he will do his 5 years and come back to a Victorian club after that.

Looking through rose coloured glasses at our season
drdrake replied to Bobby McKenzie's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm dissappointed in the way we lost games this year but what do you expect when we have such a huge reliance on players that have played under 50 games. Nearly all our games this season we would of had around 12 players with less than 50 AFL games. The other issue is the players we have that have played over 50 games we have no stars, we have one bloke with all the ability to be a star and teases us like his game against Richmond. The future is still positive, the talent is there we just need structure and someone how will get the maximum out if our players.
