  1. Has anyone thought Col did the right thing and not drive under the influence. No one will know how much Colin had to drink, maybe he had his last beer at 1 or 2 am, had a bit of a sleep and to be safe he got a mate to drive home who unfortunately had an accident. OK he should of hung around but no one was hurt, he wasn't driving and like what most people do is pannick, he wouldn't of thought he just wanted to hide and hopefully no one finds out. That was stupid but as mentioned it would have been a lot worse if he was driving and blew over 0.05 or worse still someone got hurt. It is the last weekend before Pre-season starts I'm sure most of his team mates had a big night. IR who cares I would rather Col be ready to start Pre-season with us next Monday.
  2. We talk about this every year but our pre-season form will determain if we hit 40,000 members. If we can get into the semi finals of pre-season comp we will hit 40,000 members, if we perform like 2011 we will need a strong start to the seson to push above 40,000. If neither of these happen our membership will drop. Our Off field team has pushed the membership to as high as they can, we start to deliver on field there is no reason why 45-50K can't be achieved is 2-3 seasons.
  3. Round 2 at Rooty Hill, No source just gut fealing. The Sydney game is for hype but the AFL won't expose GWS to any of the top 6 till mid year. They will get us, Richmond, Port and Gold Coast, Brisbane with in the first 6-7 games.
  4. The problem here is you have an Ego in Kennett who needs attention and a journo that needs a story. Kennett knows who to bait people and you will find he placed this in front of Denham and he bit hard. Do you know what it keeps Melbourne in the News, the only club that has been in the news over the past week has been Melbourne with Mitch Clark. So thank you Media and this just shows we are worth writing about even if is a nothing story's.
  5. I may be wrong but wasn't our conditioning staff ex Essendon? The comments Mission may be making are the same comments Hird and Thompson said about Essendon last year. Like someone posted you don't have to be sherlock holmes to realise we weren't fit enough to play the style of footy we wanted, we defend deep our forwards push to high and just couldn't work hard enough to get back forward and keep the ball in our forward line.

    Best 22

I do enjoy the best 22 posts, it keeps off season half interesting. My is as follows Bartram Frawley Rivers Garland Martin Grimes Trengove Sylvia Blease Howe Watts Petterd Green Clark Jurrah Jamar Moloney Jones Tapscott Gysberts Davey Mckenzie I like Martin down back, Frawley and Garland are flexible and can man up talls/Smalls, Bartram is that pure small defender. Sylvia needs to change his role to be a midfielder first mid size forward second. I have put our muscle around the footy with Jones/Moloney and Sylvia and added a second midfield to the bench. Trengove and Sylvia can rest deep forward. The best thing is our second 22 the players that miss out and I have our line up as(assuming Maric, Newton, Campbell, Johnston gone as well) Strauss Davis MacDonald Bennell McDonald Nicholson Lawrence Evans Morton Bate Cook Dunn Aussie Fitzpatrick Gawn Spencer Bail Jetta Add to this our three draft picks and 4 new rookies, expect tthem to be small mid size players.
  7. I think sometimes this I want to go home is just an excuse to get out of the club you are at. If we can land Mitch Clark, I don't think we will but at least we are having a crack, he is the tall option to create a contest up forward. He is the muscle up forward, the kick long option, the only issue he may have if he signs with Melbourne is he will feature in many mark of the year highlights as the step ladder for Jurrah/Petterd and Howe. He might be the first player that will need to wear padding accross his shoulders.
  8. Everyone is assuming that GWS will only give 2 picks up, what if they decide that they want to stock pile draft picks and throw up another pick this year, they could get pick 10 pick 12 plus to compensation picks
  9. So what does Brisbane get, you need a five way deal to make this work
  10. What happens next year if GC and Port dont get to 4 and a half wins, will this see priority picks before the 2012 draft head there way? If so it is GWS best interest to trade off 3-4 of these players this year to gain picks in 2012 and beyond. There is a good chance GWS will receive a priority pick in 2013 because they have no chance winning a game for 2 years so they can keep the best kids to themselves.
  11. What so we can add him to our number of mid size forwards we already have. Who does he replace Sylvia, Jurrah, Howe, Petterd, Green. Find me some outside mids that are quick and can kick so our forwards have the opportunity to kick goals.
  12. Wouldn't it be great to get all our top 20 picks on the park fit and playing well. We have huge scope for improvement in 2012 if players like Blease can have a good pre-season and hit form. How many games have Morton, Grimes, Watts, Blease, Strauss, Trengove, Gysberts and Tapscott all played together in the same team. I think the closest we got was against the Bulldogs this year where only Grimes missed.
  13. I'm fairly sure that Grimes had Stress fractures in his back and this was why he was still there for us to pick.
  14. The most over rated week onthe AFL calender. I think for the MFC it will be more what we can off load rather than what we can get. You will see names like Bate, Dunn, Maric and Warnock offered around and I think we will try to secure one of the GWS 17yo picks with a player and one of our Scully picks. Warnock will go more likely a late second round early third, but I can't imagine much interest in the other three.
  15. I agree with all of the above but neither Trengove or Grimes are ready to captian our club. Moloney should get the job and in three to four years than one of these two will take the role. Grimes needs to work on getting fit and both need to work on getting better as players they both still are on a big improvement curve and they need to focus on improving.
  16. I like Bennell, he can play and hopefully he can take a spot in our back 6. He has to learn to put his head over the footy and get the flashy one hand pick up attempts out of his game, it looks great when it comes off but when it doesn't it looks soft.
  17. You have to feel for Dean Bailey, he must be sitting back looking at the new resources in the footy department and asking himself what might have been if the same was extended to him over the past couple of years. It is great that our club is spending the money in the department that really counts, we have talented players and hopefully with the new coaches and footy department structure we are giving the on field every opportunity to catch up with the clubs off field performance.
  18. Would love for this to be true and hopefully in 2012 it is but right now Bartram has Bennell covered, Bartram runs straight lines and hits the contest hard, Bennell still has the skirt around the outside and attack the ball with one hand. A couple of games late Bennell was OK but as a pure defensive player Bartram has Bennell well covered.
  19. Bartram is the only player currently on our list that can stop small dangerous forwards. I will back him against Betts, Milne, Rioli and other dangerous small forwards before any other player we have.
  20. Bartram is our best defensive small we have. I thing there is a spot for him but he needs the right players around him. His kicking skills are poor , we know this so we need to limit his kicking and thats were Grimes, Blease, Tapscott need to be work for the handball. Where does he play in 2012, I still think he gets the back pocket for now but we need to put good kickers around him. You would use Bail, Nicholson and McKenzie as you defensive midfielders.
  21. Needs to have a full pre-season, never looked fit throughout 2011, has a big upside and has shown he has ability just needs to get his endurance right and stay fit.
  22. I'm sure the club will have him training with us this pre-season, it will some type of modified program, likely to be the same as the new recruits. We might be lucky and get to see him play in our intra club scratch match.
  23. The players have to be made well aware of what they put up in 2011 was garbage, my personal opinion is we thought our natural talent would be good enough to improve. To me our players starting listening to the hype about them as a group and thought it would just happen. They playing group deserves a rocket and hopefully it will make them determined to suceed in 2012. If a player takes offense to the honest truth he shouldn't be on our list.
  24. According to Watts last night the playing group was meeting the coach today. What I would pay to be a fly on the wall in that meeting. This is how I think it would go. The Intro G'day Guys it is great to be your coach, here is my team so far, Misson, Royal, Greaves and we will have the other coaches in place over the next few weeks The Body I will tell you how it is, you as a playing group were a disgrace in the 2011 season, what we will find out over the next 12 mths is whethere you have been poorly coached or if we over rated you as players. You will have structure you will play my way or you will play somewhere else. You will play your role each week and that starts from today. I will teach you what is needed to win matches and if you execute we will play finals in 2012. If your are unable to execute we wqill find players that can. Your fitness isn't at the required level, we are not strong enough in mind or body. Conclusion Enjoy tonight it is the close of a very bad year. As of tomorrow it is all about 2012, you will each get your program and KPI targets that we expect you to be at by your return to full training on the 1/11. We will be successful, any player that doesn't like what they hear let me know and we will either trade you or de-list you.
  25. Timmy no disrespect to your friend but I don't think a player that has a chance to play in a grand final would be throwing this around with a team mate around. I have no doubt the MFC through his management have shown interest but I think it is a long way from any deal being done, in fact he can't sign a contract with us until he is traded or we draft him.
