  1. Those new Jumpers look Sharp as, New Era New jumper that looks more like the Demon of old... i like it.
  2. we did alright with stephen Powell though, the Bulldogs would have been kicking themselves. First year with us & he plays in a GF None of there players have done that since'61  but maybe its Karma for stealing '54 off us....
  3. That is an incredible Stat. 4 Decades!!!! That one should stand for quite some time i would reckon Well done Fabrice.... <_<
  4. Ime glad you enjoyed M Hussey's Gritty Century RR to me it looked very wobbly, Siddle was out there for over 3 hours with him lets not forget that, any way as this convo is going around in circles its time to agree to disagree, i am certainly not apologizing for anything (Nice Twist there) i didn't learn too much about our Australian X1 that i hadn't worked out after the ashes tour of last year, because the opposition didn't put us under sustained pressure. This was the perfect Summer to Blood some young Players but sadly it didn't happen. A real shame that, and something The Team may live to regret. It will be an interesting 12 months though, not as interesting as The Demons will be of course,
  5. Very Cryptic i know, only Alfred Hitchcock would know the answer!
  6. Ponting should be moved down the order he still has some years left in him, don't put words in my mouth RR. I have never been a fan of his captaincy his batting is fine. Sorry i just do not see how an innings can be taken seriously when a batsman is dropped 4 times. Yes he made the most of incompetance by making that ton & once again good luck to him But i wouldn't want to trust that luck again. So RR you obviously think M Hussey is still up for Test Cricket as you disagree with me so vehmently?
  7. Alan Johnson (The 88 Final against West Coke) he polled a perfect score at the B & F count) gave his all. Gary Hardeman-always played for the Big V Graeme Yeats-Fearless Sean Wight-Brilliance & originality Danny Hughes-beautiful long kicks & his efforts on Brian Taylor Matty Whelan-courage, but too easily injured sadly. Ingerson-Fantastic Pick up from the crows Clint Bizzell-Gave 110%
  8. Fair enough, i see it differently. M Hussey has been great for Australia but i believe he is ready to step down from Test Level. And it bothers me that an innings such as that will delay that course. Asif was really Stiff. Hussey Extremely lucky. Ponting went on to make a great innings-sure he was lucky, but many batsman have been dropped once. But 4 times, that's Bazil Fawlty cricket!! I don't give a stuff about the test just played in Time. I am interested only in Smashing the Poms, & i want the Selectors to think in that vien, I don't think M Hussey should go to England.
  9. How many runs would M Hussey have made in that innings against a decent wicket keeper? That is the question i ask.. Yes his effort with Siddle was great but he should never have been there by then. That Wicket keeper was useless.
  10. We just disagree on certain points RR, i think my points are fair calls actually. How many times has a Batsmen been Dropped 4 times before atTest Level? Not often i would suggest. The 2nd Test was a classic but we did not win it. The Pakistani's Chocked & lost it. Asif's 6-41 Ripped us apart. The fact his team didn't back him up is not his fault. Hussey's knock did not change the game...The wicket keeper did that job.
  11. I agree with that, a great bowling side will usually take 20 wickets in a Test Match in the same way that Great Football sides have a rock solid class backline.
  12. Man of the Match should have gone to Asif actually for taking 6-41 in the first innings. It was he who set the game on its course. I wouldn't call hussey's innings Gritty & Gutsy at all-he was just dam lucky that the wicket keeper was useless. (and good luck to him btw) but it was hardly man of the match stuff. Siddle was the anchor in a lot of ways. I am not bagging the team-i just get the feeling we will now be in a false sense of security with 3 players now in their mid 30's
  13. I have never doubted Ponting as a batsman at all, i just think in 12 months time when the ashes are on the line he is going to be found out as a number 3 Batsmen. It does happen to all players. Time will tell. Th opposition we had this summer made it hard to gauge much on how good the side was, but sure you can only play who you are given and we won convincingly on paper. Hussey and North just treaded water in my opinion, The century Mr cricket made was probably the most unconvincing Ton i have ever seen-he should never have recieved man of the match. Granted Watson stepped up-that was a positive.
  14. Very well said gOLLy! My thoughts exactly!!!
  15. Gee thanks RR Ponting Batting at 3 is a worry going forward. North is not up to it, and Hussey now looks to be on the wane for test cricket. By Australia winning 5 tests over the summer i wonder whether all these problems will be fully worked through before next summer. I don't think we learnt much about the Australian X1 at all over this summer- very strange! How good is Hauritz, this summer he did his job for sure but we still don't know a lot....
  16. Cheers Andy. you are a fine man. Just yell when you need help. Demonland must be here to see the rise of the MFC to glory...it truly must.
  17. would have shown the problems the Test X1 has a lot Quicker to all Australians. The Fact he went on to make a Double Ton was great But it was only allowed by some woefull fielding. That a decent side would not have dropped.
  18. Nicely summed up there RR, To me this whole summer gone just proves that the selectors have got to really work hard over the next 10 months. There is much Talent in this country but is there any that is Better than what is already in the Test side?? Hussey worries me greatly...Getting Man of the Match after being dropped 4 times was a joke (sorry mr cricket but it was) yes we got a 5 nil summer but the Band aids holding it all together are not all that strong. If Ponting had been caught on 0 in the first innings in Tassie would it be a better result for Australia Long Term......
  19. I don't think its Harsh on North at all. It was only a few years ago they attracted just over 25,000 people to a final in melbourne. We are yet to see Brayshaws "white Knights" and i don't think we will. When the Demons start winning this club will pull big crowds-Our Dormant supporters will waken, North could never fill the 'G not even during the '90's. If i am proven wrong i will be the first to acknowledge it, but i don't think 10 teams will be in Victoria for too much longer, and yes if it weren't for the current administration we would already be out. But that didn't happen-and we have re-alligned with our home The MCC. Sure we have to win back Respect. The North Sympathy vote will not last forever, so let's just wait and see....North were lucky to win all 4 of their Flags if you examine the circumstances carefully. There should only be one Melbourne in this city anyway....The MFC.
  20. sure i believe you on that, but i put the blame on North Melbourne. If they had gone up to the Gold coast then these draft conditions would not exist. Harsh i know but the Truth. If North go Belly Up in the next 5 years i will be absolutely furious. Let's see who really barracks for North Melbourne.....
  21. That Article in the Herald Sun last Friday was a disgrace...What those carlton Boys did over in vegas was just a bit off good old Fun. Hey the Hangover is a bloody funny Movie. The Journo in question should sack himself from sheer embarrassment.... The Booze Boat handcuff situ is another thing altogether. The law should go hard on this one-imagine if the young kid had fallen overboard. Amazed that Vlad and the AFL have remained so quiet.
  22. Those 4 points are quite possible, i think the key to any success next year will come from how quickly the list a) Bonds together as a unit b)How quickly the whole team learns to apply pressure for the full 4 Quarters, particularly in the Final Q when everyone is spent. c) Getting the set play right from a kick in. Sure there are other factors but after hearing Sean "Not a" Whellman on radio last night. I look forward to this season more than i have any other in a very long time.
  23. Fair comment, but i still say wait until 2010 season is well under way before being to worried about any of our "potential" stars (none of them have played in a Big Game yet. I hope they do this year & do well. People speak about Colin Garland around here in Hushed Tones....as if he is a champion already. He hasn't even started yet. Bring on 2010 the Better the Team plays the more the players are worth. Geelong & Brisbane both kept their champion sides together over all in the last decade. We must aim to do the same. The Club will be compensated for any losses-all clubs will be under fire Hopefully in time the bulk of our list will WANT to stay together regardless of offers.
  24. Good to see Punter sent his Baggy Green in for a Service Like a classic old car it needed some TLC!
  25. We finished Bottom for the last 3 years. I think other teams would be more worried than the MFC Some of the defenders that are mentioned here have shown no more than potential. Lets see how 2010 unfolds before anyone gets worried.
