Yes I always thought Stephen Newport has been very under rated over the years, he played in those tough Northey Teams in the mid field a lot, often at the bottom of packs. I remember his long kicks well, i have that '88 final on VHS somewhere! Stan Alves our captain, very sad i well remember picking his number slowly off my jumper. Seeing him win a flag with that other "Melbourne" team coached by RDB is the reason i do not care if North live or die.

Yes you are probably right, but i still think his carlton escapade will not bare fruit so if he is still fit enough, couple of years down the track who knows.. he may be happy to play one or two seasons on a reduced "Veterans" Salary. With all his Visy Money he should be all set up by then. Its just a feeling i got...We are going to overtake Carlton i just know it!!!!

2 Years ago wasn't the right time for him to come to melbourne-wouldn't have helped either party. We were a complete mess.

Lets Hope the Club, coaches & leadership group all work together and have the ability to get the most and more out of these young kids for our clubs return to the pointy end of the ladder. My Biggest fear in these next few years is that because nobody has been to the Top with this club, nobody actually knows how to squeeze that last bit of effort , in order to get there. (That thought has just been quietly sitting at the back of my mind since this rebuild began 2 years ago-it's not a large fear, just a little nagging one)... I am glad i got it out in the open!!......

Maybe it is WorkSafe who is bringing it to the AFL's attention-thus they have no choice. If this Kid was hand cuffed for hours, it could get very interesting. And it sounds like the father is going all out.

I would think the AFL would be very interested in getting right to the Bottom of this. The AFL do own carlton's licence, and if they are sued by Work Cover it could get very interesting.

I think it been an interesting discussion in here, considering the way Judd got to carlton. Along with Luke Ball the draft is in serious need of a upgrade. Although in hindsight it was better that Judd did not get to melbourne, but i wouldn't rule him out finishing his career with us. Long shot but he loved our jumper as a kid, and if we rise quicker than expected-it wouldn't suprise me. Next two years will tell. If Carlton just tread water as i suspect they will. Judd will get mighty restless...

Yes i would love to know the odds given for an australian win yesterday as Siddle walked to the crease. The turn around from that moment was sublime. Hauritz did well this arvo-always love those caught & bowled wickets.

Yes i will concur on that with Ponting today no probs. It was interesting to hear his post match, when he said the philosophy of winning a toss and batting is that you bank on your team making more runs in the first innings than the opposition will in their second innings. Havent heard it explained that simply before. I will always remember that one.
