  1. WTF has that got to do with the 2004 Tsunami??
  2. Haha! i agree...storm in teacup avatar insert here Media frenzy over nothing
  3. Was it that Bad? I ask that seriously because on the TV it wasn't so bad. A reason i prefer to watch cricket on the idiot box. The camera close ups make it that much better IMO
  4. Never said Hauritz should rest on his Laurels at all, & yes he got the best conditions. But he did make the most of them which is all he could do-Tomorrow with the ball will be an important day in Nathan's career i hope, as Hilditch basically gave him the Rocket last week. I saw him smile a couple of times today, and just thought maybe he is finally starting to believe he can do it, which i and many of us have doubted.
  5. Oh yeah we blew it alright. But i remember Brereton saying after the second win, that he knew that was our grand final. we had given 110% against hawthorn and had nothing left. I think he was right. The 2nd game especially was brutal.
  6. After beating Hawthorn in tough hard games for two weeks, by half time at waverly the team had nothing left in the tank-even with the week off. But we were a chance. Always wished we had played the pies that september. It would have been on.
  7. I agree, they can slow momentum very easily, although todays innings maybe the best thing for Hauritz. He may now believe he truly belongs out there which i think has been lacking in his game, although he was lucky to make 75-he did it. His bowling just may improve.
  8. Thank God he missed or Draft day would have been an absolute disaster!! 5 wins would have stuffed us for 10 years!!!
  9. Interesting Article written by Tim. Something our club may have to closely watch in years to come, as we will be bereft of the Older clubman in a couple of years. It must be something all clubs dread at seasons end to some degree. The late night early morning phone call
  10. John Northey was fantastic-i agree with WD above. He should always be made welcome at the MFC 1987 and 90 were very special. Beating Hawthorn twice in 2 weeks was something no other team got close to. The Filth owe us a bit for that flag (and they know it) They regularly got belted and i mean belted by the hawks of those days. I rate Northey Higher than ND, only just but John was bigger on defense and tackling. Those Demon sides weren't so Flashy, but we were tough.
  11. Lucky Bugger Phi Phi Island is paradise (most of the time) Have been there a couple of times to a few of those islands.
  12. We had to get rid of Woewodin for salary cap reasons from what i have read and heard from sources close. if shane had stayed-more players would have been cut. whether it was the right or wrong call, it had to be done-shanes Brownlow had out priced him.
  13. I feel exactly the same WJ. Hessy was a good mate of mine, we often watched Demon games together. Elwood is a lot quieter these days... The night of that tribute match a big cloud hung over the red sky above the MCG, it was an eerie look for sure-but to me it will always be Hessy and Troy watching the game.
  14. 2-3 days ago i watched an old tape from 2004 I think Rd 15. MCG v St.K. i had no idea what was on the tape and just sat down and watched. We won by 10 goals (obviously why i kept it at the time!) Broady was running around and i actually got a little Teared up. He played some good footy on that day-and it was real sad to think he only had months to live-as he looked so fit and healthy. Your spirit lives on Troy-you will always stay young and a demon. R.I.P.
  15. Merry christmas to all demonlanders..hope you had a great day with family and friends Take it easy driving on the roads-We all want to be here healthy, ready for next season. To all who keep this forum up and running....Thanks you do a fine job Bring on 2010...
  16. I genuinely feel sorry for the kid, but the reality is, if he plays a senior game then this story will be regurgetated by the media so none of us will forget. Handcuffs it shall be....Wonder if Vlad will speak on this matter?? i'm hoping so
  17. Who cares-it's carlton and they deserve every bit of it. I am just hoping that all these incidents mount up and really hurt them next season. They are a club who have always thought they are above reproach-well let's just wait and see on that one. i just want the MFC to beat them next year-otherwise i am enjoying the comedy. Ju$$ should have come home to the team he followed, he didn't so anything that happens now is his own choice Sleep well ju$$y over these coming months. You may be on the wrong boat after all
  18. Fair call, although Woey i think was for more salary cap reasons. That unexpected Brownlow really didn't help shanes career sadly. The Mclean call to me came across as even more clean cut. Pick 11 monday morning of draft week Bang. To me i just thought "Wow the MFC are a new club" sentiment to a potential captain/favorite son has to be earnt, it is not a given. It comes purely from on field performance. That's the Impression of Norm Smith's legacy i got after reading the Biography.
  19. If young Levi ever gets a senior Game-His nick name will just have to be "Hand Cuffs" This story just gets Better by the Day Carlton have always been my most hated Team. The sledging next year on field will be Gold!
  20. Correct. His Thoughts were some where else. Time to move on. Pick 11 was a solid business decision. 2-3 years ago the club would not have done it. Gotta spend money to make money....
  21. Yes I remember his Quote very well. May they live to RUE THE DAY.....Filth.
  22. Nice one- I am 46 and have heard all the stories from my Dad, & yes i want to pass on my love of the Demons as well. It's going to happen.
  23. Yes i went to the Carlton Social Club a number of times in the 80's, Mates of the Old Man invited us in. Great Social Club don't get me wrong-But the paper bags were often filled! Carlton viewed it as their right!
  24. Yes the scott muller issue amazed me, we all heard S.K clear as day on that one!! He just walked away from that one-as only Warney could. The Paki's will give the australians a real going over, if they are in the right head space. The state of their country won't help, but they may treat it as Time out from the troubles at home and just go for it. The Paki's are like the Dockers-Talent but will they show it? I was at the '92 World Cup Final-The Paki's ripped into it that day!!!
