  1. I have total admiration for PG in the way the seamless handover was done. He knew he was licked, & he knew the MFC needed Jim at that moment.I hope he & the previous board gets to many games.
  2. No that issue is a long way from being resolved, But it's in a hell of a better and healthier state than it was 18 months ago.
  3. I am just Fascinated that i have not heard more if it is that prevellent, By that i mean the real Low stuff, bcoz we often get "clean Feeds" from ch 9 (Straight out of the Ground) at work with multiple audio tracks. So the players must be very aware of how to be sledging without being screened, as those microphones are vert sensitive. You are right about next weeks game, but it has just left a real sour taste in my mouth-I wish we were playing the Windies again actually! See Chris Gayle Put Hauritz over the Roof!
  4. From 1965-1995 a Lot of Brown Paper Bags would have passed around Princes Park I have no doubt. George Harris & Elliott. I don't think it's crap at all
  5. Steady on RR, very few people relatively speaking have walked out on to a test arena so i can only go on what i hear through broadcasters microphones. All i recall hearing for years was "Bowling Shane" from either ian healy or adam gilchrist!! Any really Sledging was done very subtly or quietly. If it was that bad i certainly don't support it, But i still believe in the old theory of "What Goes on in Thailand Stays in Thailand" But i think $$ are killing that adage. I rank last weeks game because it was the first time i felt disappointment at barracking for an australian Cricket side-and i will not be attending the Boxing Day Test because of it. If you have known this "under cover" info for ages Good on ya...but i didn't. Although when Roy Symmonds gets $1:5 Mill to play for 4 weeks in india, i am notr suprised the Agro bar has been raised.
  6. That's Good to know RB, you are a good man. I Hope Liam can remind Collingwood regularly how creative a footballer he is. Just wondering RB, "have you got a Demons Scarf yet??
  7. Sure got me laughing at 6:30 this morning when i awoke to hear the news. Such a club Carlton. At least 2/3 of their 16 Flags won under very dodgy circumstances!!! who could forget Lance Angwin??
  8. How would you know more about what was said on the field than i? Were you part of an Australian XI at some stage? I have never thought the Australian sides were angels, nor would i want that. They gave as good as they got. The Difference between the Australians just gone were they were great at the game & knew exactly when to sledge, thus oposition sides mentally crumbled. But i dispute the idea that other teams do not sledge just as hard, although it is hard to sledge when you are being thrashed-that happens in any sport. I doubt the MFC have done much sledging over the last few years, although there would have been a lot in Northeys day. What the Aussies did last weak was [censored] weak compared to sledging-The Windies up till then were not even rated. Last week was a sign of desperation.
  9. Are you inferring that no other oposition Team Sledged the Australians?? I am sure we took as good as we got. Don't tell me the Terbinator is squeaky clean!! Sledging probably upped its anti after the body line series, so i don't see why you are just singling out S.R's Team. Tony Greig was a superb sledger!!
  10. No arguement there, but when the entire debt was revealed i regarded it a little bigger than a small mistake. The Last Board did some good things initially and no doubt worked hard long hours...But something stuffed up badly, whether it was years of Band aids finally letting go or a genuine stuff up we may never know. But once it started to go down hill the out going board could not stop it. If Jimma had not come along, i think we might have been interstate by now. We had no home, sponsors were not renewing and a huge debt-no wonder Vlad caned us. In retrospect i am so glad Demetrio got stuck into this club-He woke us up. No longer was the name MELBOURNE any good to us-we had to earn it.
  11. Maybe that's correct, but when those wheels fell off, they disintergrated, because by the time Stynesy & Co put up their hand the debt was going up weekly. Did the PG Board get the MCC/MFC relationship back on track, i thought that was a jimma initiative, but i will be corrected if necessary.
  12. Steve Waugh was never going to be a loser-some players are like that. Thats why he became captain. He instilled a respect in the baggy green which had not been set before All teams sledge, S.R's team was not the First some of it is out right funny, i have no problem with that, but i do have a problem with last weeks behavior (The new Referral system is going to cause all out war if it is not fine tuned quickly).
  13. I am probably older than you Jayce-thus followed the barren years for longer!
  14. RR I have no problem with sledging, in fact i expect it. I have a major Problem with immature arrogance which is what i watched last week. Benn got 2 matches for his part in the "minor" Incident, Haddin should have got the same/. Shane Watson should have been sent off. That was just so embarrassing to watch. We obviously disagree on the style of S.R.Waugh's captaincy.
  15. Ahh Hazy, knew you would pop in. Does your above statement take into account that by mid 2008 (including Interest Payments) our debt was spiralling toward $ 8 Million?? In the words of Pauline Hansen " Please Explain??" Just shows how much our new board has REALLY done-doesn't it.
  16. HaHa!! Always keep your towel Close-needed when jumping into HYPERSPACE.....I will never be rude to a Gin & Tonic again.....
  17. i want Jimmy to get better and thus Inspire the Demons to win the Elusive 13th 14th 15 & 16 Flags. I always aim high otherwise there is no point. Happy Christmas to all, and bring on next year-i want victories. I want other Football supporters to REALLY HATE US!!!!
  18. HaHa Pull the other one, Scott Thompson is way ahead of McLean. once our new list is up and running his departure won't be missed. Brock is a good bloke with a big heart, but he was always an over rated player. I would be amazed if he gets his full pace back for a sustained amount of time, after that ankle fracture from 2008. P.S. Don't put Mclean & Davey in the same category- it makes you look silly.
  19. What is it with Footballers walking around Hotel Lobby's dressed only in Reg Grundys?? I have stayed in loads of hotels and never once had the urge to do that-why is it footy players do?? Carlton-what a great Club!!!!
  20. The Behavior of the Australian cricket Team was deplorable Last Week. I was embarassed to be an Aussie. I don't say that lightly-But i am really sick of the arrogant attitude, sadly at the moment the Aussies are not a likeable bunch at all. Particulairly after the Comments I heard Watson say on this mornings Radio, that basically defended the current attitude....Little shits obviously get Paid to much money and forget what cricket is all about. I hope the Paki's go right through us-maybe then the Team will grow up & learn some respect. I Like to see a Bloody Hard Fought contest, but i don't like seeing childish arrogance. Shane Watson hang your head... Ponting also needs a new Baggy Green-his original one is a disgrace. Carry it in your bag Ricky, but put on a new one when Representing my Country.
  21. Collingwood have their share of indigeonous players on their list, i doubt Liam would have been treated any different. Collingwood stuffed up badly and we were just lucky and quick to pounce. The one area i think Liam is lucky is that at this stage MFC players are not under the day to day pressure that the Filth players are. I heard Eddiewood on Radio this morning, it certainly sounded like a very colourful and fiery AGM. Lets Hope the Rumblings of discontent continue to fester!!
  22. I don't disagree, i was just using Jakovich as an example. Jacko was a Flawed Genius, Robbo was great and that's how i hope they are remembered by us all at the MFC.
  23. Gotta Pay that one. My Shout. I still reckon Robbo is harshly treated in here, but that's my opinion.
  24. Robbo did say a few things at careers end that in time he may regret, that's life. We have all done that. For a couple of weeks he was [censored] off no doubt. That probably erupted after doing all his Rehab last year, now the career is over was all that hard work worth it?? But i don't think it had anything to do with farewelling his team mates. Footy careers do rock by quick & i think he got that point across really well. And it hasn't tarnished my view of his 12 year stint at the MFC. Considering his Height i reckon he did a great job, not every player his size could hold down a key position-Robbo did a pretty fair job. And because of 1 or 2 incidents i think he cops a pretty raw deal. Allen Jakovich had a pretty ordinary defensive game, but nobody bags him. Jako was a Genius in my eyes. Robbo was a bloody good player & that's how i will remember him.
