  1. I thought my dad was going to explode and die in the Members Reserve that day!! Will never forget it...He was furious, and i don't blame him!
  2. Robbie Flower could fly through the air, not just leap but Fly & considering how average his eyesight was, it was just incredible what he did. Week after Week. The wider football audience only really saw how good he was when he played in the Big V jumper. i cannot remember Flower ever playing 4 Quarters of poor football. He always did something in each game. I am hoping one of our new recruits gets close to the absolute class of Robert Flower.
  3. In 2002 Adem Yze's foot skills were unbelievable, He had a superb year. Flower had 14 and that is no offence to Adem. That is just how good Robbie was (saw his first game in '73\. He was good even then)
  4. "The only followers that Port have are the old Magpie supporters." You are so right, and now that old Magpie football team has been starved to death, you wonder how long those old magpie supporters will support the Teal Port Power. Another Team on the long Term Drip feed. This is not good for us all. Thanks Wayne Jackson-you are responsible for this mess.
  5. Totally agree. Another one of Wayne Jacksons great legacies. You really wonder what is going to happen to the power in the next 5-10 years.
  6. Yes i heard that too,Lloyd is obviously an ignorant shallow tool. Well siuted to the "Morning Glory" i might add. Yes it is insulting to the club, but let us not forget outside this Website and our Members this club is not rated AT ALL. Personally for 2010 i would put Aaron Davey & Sylvia in that category-they must step up and teach the young guys a lot.
  7. This is one to remember...We must get our house in order. Thank God it is being done but there is still a long way to go. No doubt the Power joining the AFL killed the S.A Magpies-wonder if it will also effect the Power going forward? Port Power should never have been allowed into the AFL-the supporter base was always too small and polarized. Will Port Power Survive long term??? Thoughts...
  8. i agree with all you say, but it still doesn't stop me aiming high. i have seen enough mediocraty with this team to last 5 lifetimes. I just want them to aim high, a little above the comfort zone so to speak. Prove a few Mike Sheahan's of the world wrong. Most of those boring jerks have still got us down the bottom this year Nobody gave the New Orleans saints a chance in hell of winning the superbowl this year but they did it.
  9. Thats what i hope DB does. Kevin Sheedy has done very well out of that philosophy. I think that's a reason DB wants players to play in multiple positions-keep the opponent 2nd Guessing.
  10. FWIW let us not forget that Dustin Fletcher & James Hird both played in the 93 Premiership with a Bunch of no names kids....just a thought. Too much talk of keeping players in cotton wool around here, that is not to say they shouldn't be looked after but hey Jack was picked up as the number 1 draft pick because he is good at playing footy-so i want to see some of that next year.
  11. Yes i do apologize, i forgot to mention your work first up, particularly over the last few weeks. When "Demonland" was down it just did not feel right at all. Through the good & Tough times this site has seen a lot. Without Demonland i may not have lasted the last 3 years. When i was gutted, at least i knew i was not alone. Will make the elation so much sweeter to taste....
  12. Our Biggest Problem is going to be in the Ruck. As for the rest of the ground, the excuses are over. The Team must go out there and match it with the best. No one believed The New Orleans Saints could win the Super Bowl yesterday-but they did it. That is the kind of attitude that Bailey and the club must expect from all players. New Orleans won their first Grail in 43 years of existance yesterday-Nobody picked them. There is one thing going for the MFC right now...We have some good players in our side....& nobody out there rates them
  13. Fair Comment, But i still believe after listening to that speech that DB knows exactly what he is doing. For that matter so does Cam Schwabb. you can be cautious of course, but sometimes you gotta belief the feelings inside ya guts. 2010 Bring it on.
  14. and to think the General perception of the Melbourne supporter is that we have no Passion for our club. When this club starts to roll big time, we are going to scare the crap out of opposition supporters. Can't wait. The MCG will be full of Red & Blue.
  15. Sure a lot of people wait for those first few rounds to see if it is worth it. Its Crap but that's what they do. A first up win against the Dawks & 35K is looking achievable. If after 5 rounds we are 0-5 well then we will struggle to make 30K. Sad but true.
  16. Yes we have. To do what DB has done over the past 2 years takes a lot of Guts and strength of character. You have to give him credit for that, he could have easily cracked under the conditions he was given. i admit 2010 will give us our first glimpse of his "real" coaching ability but i am betting he has that covered...if his players stand up
  17. I take it that you have a problem with DB? If so what is it? & what would you do differently??
  18. Jack "Charlie" Watts will be ok, just give him a little space and some patience For a while he might drive some of us mad, but when he gets his head and body right, at the same rate. Look out...Liam Jurrah & Jack Watts might be as Great as Ron Baggott & Norm Smith. those guys took 2-3 years to get sorted out back in the thirties, but they were a lethal duo if you read our history part of the 39-41 3peat.
  19. I agree far to many ODI's that are forgotten the day after. But the indians love them so they are played at every chance. I actually really like ODI's with 2 top sides, so i hope they do not phase them out. T20's are ok but to me its like cricket on speed-but its great to see young kids at the ground Pumped up. and if it gets them interested in test cricket-awesome. Next summer will tell a lot...India & England out here. 7 ODI's against each country (i think) personally i would prefer the triangular format with those sides. I heard stephen Gough on SEN this arvo talking about it from the MCC point of view..worth a listen if the podcast is there.
  20. Absolutely, if The Flash had walked our club would be about 5 years behind the eight ball (again) He is the leader of all our indigenous boys and some of the white fellas for that matter.
  21. Thanks for the Reports guys, skills can still be tightened. At least there were no injuries. Just watch those speeches from the AGM again. We are in good Hands, But i am actually Glad Shane Crawford gave us a bake. Maybe our skills are not too bad, it's just that everybody elses are better. So we must improve..Good.
  22. which is light Tower 2?? i always head for Members gate 2 so i am a bit hazy on light tower numbers i would be in that for sure. Call to arms after 3 years of hell-That would pump the players & club right up. Good idea.
