26,195 - Up she goes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! edit: The way it is going I might have to soon re-evaluate my prediction of 31,484!

Point taken Queen C, well you may not understand the importance, but they do. You also make a good point as highlighted in your post. But you are misunderstood in terms of our Rugby League followers not 'caring as much as we do', Being that we Melburnians love sport, including Storm supporters/members. And when we get a clash of the magnitude of NSW and QLD - especially a decider, we will flock to it. Which is why the NRL see's it as an opportunity to get a stronger foothold in Victoria on the back of the Storms gradual success. That is why it is important for the NRL to get a bigger stake in Victoria. - As they say, "if you build it, they will come." Fair enough some don't have to like or support or understand about the sell off S.O.O. interstate game. But at the end of the day the 'majority' of NRL supporters as a whole will back David Gallop and the NRL's decisions on what is good for their game for the future. Fair enough then.

How can I come back at that Queen C......"Yes they do?"

I know why now..... If anyone noticed the baby Demon was next to the baby in the Colling@#$d jumper. The 'Filth' of a baby turned to baby DEMON and to much of Baby Demon's disgust, smiled. .................... It had no teeth!! (Boom Boom) No wonder Baby Demon was hysterical....poor thing got the shock of it's life!
-
Probably because the jumper size was too small. Could it be interpreted as crying for joy!! Hmmm. One for the pundits.

Granted, we needed more than just speed, we had a shopping list a mile long in actual fact at the end of 2008 season. With Jamar, Johnson, Meesen and Spencer and probably another emergency ruckman in Martin, other items on the list took priority after Warnock fell through. It's sure to be assessed in 6 months time. One of the big things over pre season, which Bailey has indicated, was the need to add more kgs of muscle so the players don't get pushed aside like a rag doll. They have to some degree, achieved some of this, although the first year players will need more time and perhaps the second year players need more kgs too. Make no mistake, the coming draft will be just as important for the rest of 'our shopping list.'

Here, here. One of the many discussions that took place at the SUMMIT last year. An improved website with regular updates.

45hotgod, if you had a product which you believed in and were willing to promote it and increase its awareness and exposure, don't you think you would want to put it on display in front of a packed stadium in a marketers dream that is Melbourne? Knowing that your grassroots from where your product originated, fully support you. edit: You and I both know there is only one Coliseum, ours ...the 'G'

The NRL are still trying to promote the State of Origin and NRL in their push into the sporting capital of Australia if not the world, Melbourne. NSW and QLD understand the importance for the future of the NRL in the sporting mecca. The use of the stadium depicting a battle of two foes or gladiators in NSW and QLD within a 'Coliseum' where they will play is appropriate, for such an internationally recognised clash. Besides, I have acquaintances in both states, who make the trek for Origin clashes in Melbourne and they love watching it here. However, not so much love of those from NSW, because QLD have had the wood on them down here, with some famous victories.

Gee, that was a rather good jump from 25,006 - Up 685 from Sunday/Monday. Probably on the back of Kaspersky Lab announcement. Either that or its the start of the season. Or both. A win over the Kangaroos will be a great boost for membership heading into Rd 2 v Collingwood. Go Dees!

This is a great story. Thanks Dazzledavey for that. Fingers crossed he can achieve the same heights as what our President once did. PS. Your signature??...........what were you on back on June 24, 2008?
-
Your forgetting our needs at the conclusion of last season. The need for speed. Another VERY important or significant factor in our list management strategy, is 'contracts'. Meesen has two years left. Bailey & Co. would also prefer to see more of him this year, for that must be a given as no one saw him last year. Meesen will come under intense scrutiny this season with his development.
-
Ol' Jimma could be taking a back seat to this one.....Hazy would like to think so.
-
True. But my point is last season would have been a 'significant hit to the rib cage', and the bottom line due to poor onfield performance.

TheOx5, this has been discussed many times through various threads. Just to give a balanced view there are many MCC Demons who do chip in extra or buy full Mfc memberships. Just making sure MCC Demons fans aren't viewed as non-mfc members.... However, I imagine there would still be some that are solely MCC. When you say "we have to offer something unique" , you offer good suggestions. However, there is already a MCC/MFC membership as well as the renewed ties and financial acknowledgment by the MCC to the MFC prior to Christmas along with the AFL. I have no doubt merchandise purchased by opposition clubs was far greater than that purchased by Melbourne members and supporters last season. Would have been a massive blow to the club, as we already know. Wait until 30,000........
-
Fair point on all accounts. Did we generate lower revenue from memberships than Brisbane last season, who I think had fewer members?

Whilst we're predicting outcomes Y_M, here is one with a long range forecast. J.Roughead to win the Coleman. Good value...he'll also give good sight for your $. Put some on and thank me 1st of September.
-
I reckon Roughead will have Buddy covered this season in the goal kicking. Get on Roughead for value in the Coleman.
-
What the? Well, I must be scum having dealt with bookmakers at the Spring Carnival....after backing a winner or two!!
-
- "just as long as we get heaps of it......." - longsuffering Yeah, who cares.......
-
LMAO regarding.....Tina Turner. The AFL commercial is pretty good in my opinion, but it doesn't surpass the "I'd like to see that" campaign. Perhaps a more catchy song could have been achieved, a pass from me nevertheless. I like the NRL State of Origin commercial promotion depicting gladiators. Note: - The Cricket Australia promotion commercial last summer was pretty ordinary. To me, it didn't appeal to the younger generation enough.

Where, oh where are the quality spinners that were spruiked that Australia would produce on the back of Shane Warne's brilliance...............we want more "freaks with tweak!!"
-
Two years to run......agghh!!! As rhino has pointed out, if things do not improve with Meesen, the people in the positions to make decisions may consider at the end of this season to sort the rucking department out, despite one year left on the contract.
-
I wonder if an experienced ruckman "Harbours" any plans to return to the sporting capital city from where he once learned his trade...
