  1. I think the middle to senior players currently would be buoyed by the current youth of today and know exactly where the club is at having lost alot of senior players of the last few years. Early 2007 the writing was on the wall and whilst those players may not have seen it initially, by the end of 2007 after Daniher left they would have known they were in for a lean period.
  2. But two picks in the top 10 will sure as hell give us the best two available or 2 of the best 3 kids available to give us a better chance at a shot of a flag one would assume. No current side will get this chance within the next 5 years at least. Except 1 other side: West coast. Ask yourself why are they going so bad this year having won the flag only 2.5 years ago?
  3. Rhino round 22, 2007.
  4. Hopefully Bailey starts tee-ing off with the sand wedge in hand.
  5. Good post Dappa. There is one word, which as history shows, can influence results for the Melbournefc. We've seen it happen before. That word is 'Momentum'. Granted our list contains some holes and plenty of youth when in comparison. But when our club gets on a roll, the fans start flocking, confidence builds and before you know it we've chalked up 5-6 in a row.
  6. The priority pick has to go........after this year. Fair dinkum, this is our next home game and we need all the support we can get. We need 23,000 plus at this game. SH!T we'll all be nervous as hell during the game - we'll be watching every footstep, every handpass, every kick, every dropped mark will be monitored by all of us, scrutinized and posted about in the week following........... . Ahhh [censored] it, let's just WIN it! Smash 'em by 139 points & enjoy it and watch Worsfold get the sack, then hope like hell we finish with 4 or less wins over the last 8 nervous rounds and West Coast win a couple by the end of year!
  7. First pick other than the Gold Coast's picks is pick 4.
  8. Keep up the good work Dunbar.
  9. More from Leigh Matthews: - WATTS AND DEES ARE A LONG WAY OFF From the article: - For Melbourne to get off the bottom of the ladder it will take some resources that we are yet to see.
  10. Wtf? Re-visit the games of this season, have a look at the youth that entered the club in the last two years via the drafts, have a look at the already improved backline, have a look at the second quarter on Friday night. Then get back to us. PS. And it is 'where'...

    Paul Wheatley

Thank's for your post Paul and welcome to Demonland. Keep playing well at Casey and I'm sure you'll get in through the ever revolving door into the Melbourne side. Cheers. PS. Keep working on your booming kick you super-goal freak! :D
  12. Not sure about the logo, although I think there was some mention in a thread earlier in the year somewhere, that the logo may be revisited. Winfield cigarettes? I wouldn't know about that either, most likely because I don't smoke. However, strange comparison. Is that a bad thing?
  13. Yes. Bartram does do the things you mention, yes, they do go unnoticed. Some teammates would do well to take note and implement these things in their own game. He's not the best kick, he's not a world beater but he can beat his opponent and you know he'll be doing his best out on the park for the team.
  14. If Freo play the rest of this year, anything like they did yesterday they should finish on approx. 8-10 wins!
  15. Well, there you go then. Maybe Rogue's concern is we need another, to release Bennell to half-back?
  16. But we wore that one against the likes of Carlton; Essendon, didn't we? I didn't think there was a clash back then.
  17. That's what I was going to say, and is Bennell pacey enough for the small defender post? Cheney, on Friday night wasn't quick enough IMO.
  18. Yes. A couple were also caused by the teammate who was kicking the ball. It's a team game, things can also be attributed to the ball carrier 'telegraphing' the pass (ie. taking too many steps before kicking, and allowing the opposition to read the play and engage in intercept) or not kicking it to the advantage of his teammate. ie. The fat side; or in front where his teammate would prefer it. I'm tipping no footballer wants it kicked straight to him by a teammate with the ball given 'airtime' or no penetration, leaving him to be a sitting duck for the opposition to pounce and/or hurt him in the process. In the end, it could well hurt the team just by the turnover itself. As it did on Friday night.
  19. Played ok Friday night. You want to answer those questions yourself?
  20. Indeed. What I'm now thinking is a guy like Brad Green - is very important to the young brigade. He along with McLean, Sylvia & Rivers will need to show the way on and off the field, after the likes of Wheels, Robbo, McDonald, etc move on. When we start winning, it's important to keep the young ones level headed and teach them that winning should be the 'norm'. Much like Judd is doing at Carlton. When wins are 'chalked up', may they enjoy it, but it's imperative that they recognise they've only obtained the 4 points, and that's it. The same when they kick a goal or two to grab the lead, it should be on with the job...and a "let's bury this mob" mentality.
  21. Good comparison. Although Jonathon Brown was not a number 1 draft pick. Other than that you make a good example. We probably saw nothing in those first 8 games to suggest he was going to be the player he now is. Isn't that right Lethal.
  22. Seriously nothing could be as bad as that silver one from last year.
