That's just the way it is in footy. Jones took his eyes off the ball for a split second, had he kept his eyes on the ball and even jumped, he wouldn't have got crunched the way he did. Brave all the same. A Joel Selwood wouldn't have taken his eyes off the ball and probably would have marked it, at the same time protecting himself a bit better. It just comes down to which players have more footy nous.

TRAVIS JOHNSTONE - WHY WHY WHY???
H_T replied to Jonesy is the next captain's topic in Melbourne Demons
Recall the first sentence. But not the second. PS. Any chance you could have gone back to this particular post of yours, find that it wasn't quoted by anyone, and edited to make you look good in this case?? He does that at least once a week. Then there's the ones that get reminded by other posters how wrong he was. They happen to be about 3 times a week. Now that's funny. -
What a game. 16-14 in the 5th. Roddick was awesome. makes you wonder what might have happened had Lleyton knocked over Roddick in the 5th in the quarters. Certainly wasn't handed to Roger on a silver platter QueenC.

Yes, that might have been the occasion when his opponent Hurn ran the length of the ground with the ball. To directly set up a goal. My summary: Rivers played well. Robbo played his best game for some time. I can understand some of the emotion of some players after kicking a goal. But geez..........Robbo goes overboard.

Mr Flexible. It will be interesting what takes place when Garland is up and going next year. Garland can also go forward and is a better kick for goal. Bailey would have quite a few options in attack. Various match up options for horses for courses purposes. With the likes of Jurrah, Watts, Martin, Green, Wonaeamirri, Maric, Bate, Sylvia, Davey in the forward mix - all would be well served with a better midfield. Coming soon.

Whilst there is alot of footy to be played in the TAC CUP, and a draft camp to be conquered. I too remain undecided. Tbh with 8 rounds still to be played even a priority pick is in doubt with the output displayed on Saturday by the boys! A couple of things that we have been screaming out for is pace and skill - good foot skills. We would get both of these qualities with Scully. If we could secure the likes of a Morabito or Trengove as well I would be delighted. If we could snag Coyler later in 2nd round... edit: .....I'd be over the moon!

He is a monty to get it. And he will be a chance to win it.
-
Do you have them two as clear picks above the others H?
-
I think some recruiters might have him in contention for pick 2,3, 4 or 5. Jason McCartney is on the ball. edit: I also note that Travis Coyler also caught McCartney's eye. I really really liked his game. Going by McCartney's assessment, Coyler has had a good carnival. Despite being a small midfielder, anyone who breaks the lines with speed and has 6 x I50's, 5 clearances, 2 goals (he could have easily had 4) is a good pick up in the draft. I still say he is my smokey to be taken. (ie. Not for Melbourne, but taken in first round). Would love him to slide to 18.

You know what. It's not a bad idea, if it can be done. It will speak volumes for the support for Jimmy. A legend of the club with another great challenge confronting him.

Let's not forget the motto, "You're only as good as your last game." For the record Melbourne were awful last week. West Coast played well in a cyclone to beat last years Premiers in Hawthorn. Whatever the result tomorrow, the side will continue to rebuild. Alot of posters on this site didn't want to win this game against West Coast. Recent events may have changed their view which is understandable. But I'm tipping those who think "THE CLUB WILL FALL APART IF WE LOSE" against West Coast will be the same senseless individuals who will not want Melbournefc to win against the likes of Port, Freo and North in a few weeks time, so we can gain picks 1&2. Go figure.

Is that necessary?

I wish the club would be a bit more transparent in this regard. Either tell us he is being rested. Or tell us Strauss is injured. It can't be smoke & mirrors, surely?
-
Jumbo! Miller belongs on the wing?? Are you serious?!

Casey. Wasn't influential or anything flashy last week against Williamstown. Looks as though he is still underdone.

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsart...89/default.aspx The Demons have made four changes ahead of the side’s Round 14 clash with the West Coast Eagles. Coming into the team are captain James McDonald, Matthew Bate, Mark Jamar and Paul Wheatley. McDonald returns to the fold after recovering from a knee injury that forced him to miss the last two weeks. Ruckman Mark Jamar also returns from injury, after overcoming a slight quad strain. Paul Wheatley will play his first game for Melbourne this season, after impressing with a number of strong performances with Casey in the VFL. Wheatley’s first half of the season was hampered severely by calf and quad injuries. Forward Matthew Bate also returns after missing last week with the flu. Ruckman Paul Johnson, Matthew Whelan and Brad Miller have all been omitted. Jack Watts will also miss his first game since making his debut, due to illness. During the week, Watts missed two days of training after suffering from migraines and a bout of gastro. The emergencies for the match are Brad Miller, Paul Johnson and Daniel Bell.

324. Why don't they just put 'indefinite'. He was a 426 man a few weeks back, but he's now been 324 for what seems like ages. With 9 games left of the H&A season. They may as well rule him out for the season and get things right.

I think he might have given Sumich a clip around the ears for suggesting to leave Naitanui up forward. Rumoured to have allegedly said, "Now look at the mess you've got me in!"

Demons to pluck Eagles wings in scintillating fashion
H_T replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
Watch last weeks effort by Bruce, you might get an idea. -
I've purchased one for now. (I'm budgeting ). I'll purchase the other next week. Found it difficult going through the site. So I contacted the club. The lovely girl Jane helped out effortlessly. $50 Demon Heartland. Done. #4418. Pleasure having a bet with you......it's a win-win for the club. There's 20 kids worth! Jobs done.

Stranga or 'Strange'? Why talk about Stynes in a past sense, he'll be back.
