  1. Not necessarily considering most of our access to high picks occured in during the introduction of two expansion clubs. Also other clubs had high picks, see WCE in 2008 with same amount of round 1 picks + a priority pick. Granted we had the best picks in 2009, with Scully and TRENGOVE, one year is hardly "the greatest access to early draft talent in history"... GWS easily holds that title that with last year's draft picks and talent on offer. You were better at insults and picking on spelling mistakes...
  2. Unfortunately in terms of skill at this stage Blease, Bail, McKenzie and Magner are VFL players. McKenzie is improving, and I would definately like to see what another preseason can do. He has a good work rate, and as the master pointed out I have been worried about our small mid. I have left Couch out because we haven't really seen what he can do. 3 games in is first season isn't really an accurate indicator. I'd like to see him play a couple of games this season. At the end of the day these players are great to fill in the holes in our list this year, but under anyother circumstance wouldn't be in the team...
  3. GOOD CALL: - North Melbourne won't make the top 10 this year (has more 3 probable wins: Melbourne, GWS, Brisbane [NB: the only teams they play for the rest of the season whom are below them on the ladder])
  4. I'm pretty sure captaincy is chosen by the players...
  5. It's just rubbish for all of what Pennant St Dee said and also I think there are restrictions on when clubs can approach a contracted player ect.
  6. What Choko said + new facilities at Casey & AAMI Park (some of the newest in the AFL)
  7. No bloodbath?!? I'm pretty sure WYL and H_H were going to vote Ceasar style anway...
  8. Positives: Davey is back in original form, great two goals The best Pedersen has played, marking was stronger but still weak on a 1 on 1 Terlich had some great moments, stayed up when most would go down, had confidence, and had some great runs Fitzpatrick did well, laid some tackles Trengrove kicked two good goals and set up one which Watts should have kicked Negatives: Blease turned over the ball almost every single time he had it, cannot kick, cannot hit targets Watts backed out of contests again No second efforts Silvia still providing the minimum ect.
  9. Watts completely lost me yesterday. Again I saw him backing away from contests - weak footy. There was one instance in a pocket where he was running into a contest where another Collingwood player was going to shepherd him and he jsut backed completely off. Ironically 2 minutes later, same pocket, same situation, Davey was running in and could see Cloke was shepherding and he still ran in, provided some pressure and took the bump. He doesn't shepherd, he doesn't spread, he doesn't run hard enough, he contests marks from behind where he isn't strong enough, backs away from bumps and contests, struggles to provide a first effort let alone seconds or thirds, epitomises the lazy culture in the club, isn't worth his pay cheque and a depreciating asset. Get rid of him whilst he has some value - possibly a second round pick.
  10. Another anti-Neeld thread where people will blame MN for every bad player that was drafted before him and players that haven't improved, then not give him any credit for good players that he drafted and players that have improved. Getting very boring.
  11. Was one of the only people who played a good game yesterday. Had some pace, hands were better, lead/provided options and put some hits/tackles.
  12. Neeld is contracted till the end of 2014. If we terminate him we will have to pay out the rest of his term on his contract which would have been $200k for this year and $400k for next year. + You will also have to take into consideration a pay rise for the care taker, the cost of the new coach, and staff he would like to bring and therefore costs of paying out the contracts of replaced staff aswell. Yes sacking MN might cause an increase of memberships or attendances however the oppotunity cost of letting him go and paying him out + all the other issues + negative sigma for prospective coaches + impact on players does not outweigh the cost of letting him stay on till the end of the year and giving him a chance to prove his worth + players to finally have the wake up call to put some effort in. PJ and board want to give MN a chance, the supporters seem to be happy with the the decision and the footy media (dispite not getting blood) seem to approve. Now all we have to do is sit back and let it play out.
  13. I know it's a big call - but Garry Ablett Jnr. has got to be one the best AFL players in history, if not the best. Mainly for consistency. Every game, particularly recently, he manages to perform at a level pretty much un-rivaled and for me the one who will be responsible for GCS' success in the future. Favourite non-MFC players/groups: Black/Voss/Lapin/Brown/Akermanis Garry Ablett Jnr. Lloyd/Hird/Fletcher S. Mitchell Cox Favourite MFC players/groups: Yze/Robinson/Neitz/Davey/White Farmer N. Jones Nathan Carroll (always provided some entertainment) Pickett (defied gravity and was the last player who got away with those old bumps) Most disliked AFL players/groups: Maxwell/Thomas C. Brown J. Selwood Franklin McLean
  14. Hey, I stand corrected. I think you've hit the nail on the head re Barry.
  15. So I take it you're not a fan of Williams?
  16. No disrespect to a good game by GWS but Geelong take a while to get started, their defence have some holes because of injuries and I think that they went in there arrogant - Scott's great spray set them right.
  17. Considering we got Barry in the mini draft for next year his current form probably isn't a fair assesment of what he will be (physically) next year... particularly considering his age. However Jimmy Toumpas is a good example. We chose him over fully built players like Wines whom he is apparently more skilled but physically a development player.
  18. Frawley is contracted to the end of 2014
  19. Magner won't leave. He isn't a free or restricted agent so we would have to trade him and to be honest no one will want him - there is a reason he was in the draft 7 times (if memory serves me correctly) until we picked him up. To all the people saying he has been mistreated because: 1) We kept him on the rookie list - Evans and Nicholson were at the end of their 2 year max stay on the rookie list and either had to be promoted or dropped and Magner could stay on the rooki list for an extra year 2) We drop him - he is a great VFL player but limited AFL player. At the end of the day I'd have Magner in than Bail. Maybe the team selectors think that Magner has reached his glass ceiling and Bail/anyone else they have selected over him has a higher one and needs game experience. I dunno... but how the hell Rohan Bail still get games amazes me.
  20. Please show me evidence of your facts on: Neeld spraying the players Neeld having no respect/not wanting to earn the respect of seniors Moloney staning up for the players
  21. The players voted for the Jack's - cant really put that one on Neeld. Moloney stood up for himself and what he wanted - captaincy. He wasn't a marytr.
  22. I'll always remember when Jeff Kennett poured sand on a print out of the MFC's mascot at a Hawks function - representing how Melbourne is going under. Considering that, his merging statements, and how he is the most outspoken man in Australia (see most recent example of him calling GWS the AFL's Gallipoli today) I wouldn't want him to have anything to do with the club.
  23. Couldn't think of anything better to sober you up.
  24. Reading Satyriconhome's rants have taken all the debate out of me. Was just making a tongue in cheek comment about how you've consistently tried to call when this house of cards will fall down, yet nothing. Make sure to get the single malt out.
