  1. agreed, you would hope so, but they are not perfect and anyway players don't always follow instructions either but in principle you are right
  2. It was hypothetical Read what the OP said "I heard from a family friend of his (who could still be wrong i guess)" It is just common sense that if a player focussed on one muscle group AND ignored a related muscle group that this could cause a strain to that muscle group I have no idea whether Gysberts has a slight OP condition or not But no doubt you will have the last say
  3. Not convinced on the "nice guy" analogy, but I do agree that Newton is a nastier type of person
  4. you should reread the previous posts and link I thought it was explained adequately the stronger opponents (he had a light frame) caused him to do bulk-up weights He didn't strengthen all the required muscles in a balanced way Hence he had an imbalance placing extra strain on groin It was only minor and should be easily remedied Not too hard to follow
  5. As an aside, a second round pick this draft is more like a 3rd round pick in a normal draft
  6. Yeah I'm sure we would like to see. Post the link. Will be very interested to see if you go ahead with the painting. Would be great and I bet you could sell a bundle of prints. Maybe you could do a deal with the club Good luck
  7. Well after the insipid form of (most of) our forward line and Miller's good form at Casey he probably deserves a game on form alone, whether he is leaving or not. Coupled with his long tenure and being a good clubman, I have no problem with him getting a last game, if indeed the FD so decide Re Gotch, definitely not his position to announce delisting. I hope it was just a genuine misunderstanding/mistake.
  8. To be honest and trying to be objective I couldn't split Goddard and Jurrah But, if I was forced, Jurrah by a bee's d**k
  9. Well PJ only had a handful of hitouts last week and according to the Hun zero to advantage (plus a handful of disposals) So Newton hasn't much to beat. More pinch-hit than ruck though
  10. 11. actually I thought previous poster said the opposite the genuine 2nd ruck position to go, and be replaced by a part-time ruck with good forward potential its only a theory though and the AFL have not made a decision on limiting rotations yet
  12. At the moment he is not on a "rookie salary" His salary stayed the same as 2009 when he was on senior list (with a 2009/2010 contract) I doubt he would be interested in staying on the rookie list on a real rookie salary which would be a huge comedown I'd be surprised if there was a limit on a veterans rookie salary I'm not even sure he is eligible for a 2nd year on the veterans rookie category Looks like his only hope is to be offered a place on senior list which is probably slim There again if he rips it up the next two weeks . . . .
  13. I agree it all makes sense and people have been saying so, but everytime I read an "official" statement of rules I never see it spelt out. Would just like to see it in black and white somewhere Of course we wont have to wait long now for it all to play out
  14. Sorry to be a pain, maybe my eyesight is off, but I couldn't see any statement re max 1 per club wrt 16 uncontracted players any other links?
  15. not that I don't believe you, would still like a reference (link) for the max 1 bit for GC17 (not GWS)
  16. Are you absolutely sure on this? I know that this is explicitly stated for GWS (over 2 years starting next year) but I couldn't see it stated for GC17, just a max of 16 uncontracted players Do you have a reference?
  17. Hmmm . . . I wouldn't have agreed 3 months ago, but I'm starting to warm to the idea There won't be much draft pickings next few years, so maybe another year wouldn't do too much harm, and a little depth of tall forwards would be prudent esp if Miller goes
  18. A bit of nostalgia Darrel Baldock played 3 seasons with East Devonport in the NWFU (senior footy in TAS) and then accepted the position of Captain/Coach at Latrobe (another NWFU side). He was still a teenager! Not suggesting anything at all . . . just nostalgia
  19. Fair enough . . . apologies I took it to be about Fitzy. Yes, some people do get a bit savage unfairly and Strauss does seem to be in some peoples sights
  20. A player simply can't be objective Who wouldn't want the dream to go on forever? You only get one career You wouldn't be a good AFL player if you weren't always optimistic and positive Then there's the lifestyle, the good money, cameraderie, the fame, the vibe . . . . No, James in a few years will realise this was the best decision for him and the club How lucky is he really. To get to retire at 33 years, play for 14, captain last 3 years, B&F's, AA, 250+ games, rookie games record All this AND to go out on top. No form slips, no career ending injuries, no playing in VFL, no bagging etc etc. Its sad to see it come to an end and he will be missed, but it was a good decision
  21. I don't follow your logic or are you just grandstanding It seems perfectly natural to question why Fitzy was dropped to ressies when his performances were on the improve. Didn't notice any FD bashing
  22. I didn't mean point 5 as a standalone reason but it might be the last straw if it was a tight decision Anyway we'll find out later today
