  1. Truly and, for all those who say "what's there to lose", what are you smoking?
  2. We don't even know what Peterson wants to do He was apparently out-of-contact with Hawthorn at season end. We don't know if he intends to go into the Draft I haven't heard any comments from his manager As it stands it looks like he (for whatever reason) has voluntarily opted out of AFL footy??? Not saying anything one way or the other, but there is a story here not being told
  3. Congratulations Supermercado. I hadn't had a good look around Demonwiki for some time. It is really filling out well and is a great source of info for us demon acolytes. You must have put an enormous amount of work into this Again, well done and thanks
  4. Talking of players whose game style is not "hard-at-it" - whats happening with Tracky-Dacks and re-signing? He only has 10 days till Nov 1 (that is the end-of-contract time isn't it?) We might be looking at 5 draft picks - any info?
  5. How do you know all this? . . . . or are you just making it up? Back up the rhetoric with some details/facts, rather than pontificating
  6. Totally agree Nasher. I can't understand the angst. Its un-australian to put the boot in because CJ got delisted by Carlton. Karma my arze! Criticizing his football ability is fair enough but to criticize his character on a couple of one-sided reputed hear-says says more about the poster than than the player All the best PJ wherever you end up. Hope to see you and Alan supporting the Dees.
  7. Ah, good. Was rather hoping you had some objective insights re Peterson, and why he would be worth a risk
  8. touched a nerve there? if you know more about said subject why don't you share it and explain why the fd should take a "risk" rather than a broad brushed rant of indignation
  9. JCB you'd be old enough to remember: Rumble in the Jungle, and Thriller in Manila
  10. I didn't say strange things, I said name one "stranger than" Its a matter of opinion whether the Hopgood one is stranger, I don't think so But, anyway, I thought one would realise it was rhetorical
  11. it will be interesting to see what happens - they could fade fast, hang in there for a top 4 finish, or more likely be wildly inconsistent. they will still be a "dangerous" team next year not to be taken lightly. and hard to beat at the cattery
  12. Actually WJ there were two lists in the "old days". First was the list of all players registered with the VFL (Seniors, 2nds, U19s) Second was something called the "Senior List" (which IIRC Melbourne's was in the mid-high 20's) It was also possible to get a game in the seniors without making the "senior list" So, the "old" "senior-list" was actually smaller than todays "list" Players (mostly) weren't on contracts either, Once registered to the club only the club could release them And I would say that someone like a Newton in those days would never had got anything like 6 years.
  13. adc the problem is when people pump up the tyres of certain players who haven't done anything to deserve it and have had plenty of chances, then others are entitled to come in and try to "correct" the situation if noone was pumping up newton's tyres i don't think there would be so much criticism. I know i wouldn't, i'd just keep my peace and wait for him to be delisted now if the fd do decide to keep him on, i'll be disappointed and i'll think they made the wrong decision. But i'll accept it because they run the fd not me.
  14. Does that make you a hit Rhino Sorry, no offense meant, couldn't help myself
  15. As Mandy Rice Davies once famously said "Well, he would say that, wouldn't he"
  16. Can we do both?
  17. name one B) B)
  18. I liked the chinese woman who said "I don't understand Newton, but I thought I'd give him a go"
  19. Sheesh, the amount of insanity on this board is exponentially proportional to the length of time from the end of the season. And there is still a month to go before the Draft. Its not too late to bring back Miller and Bell too!
  20. Why do you think that? I'd say quite the reverse - the bleating will be heard as far away as Shanghai
  21. You Newton fan-boys are dreaming . . . . . but its a free world, so dream-on I won't argue the finer points or I'll get accused on player bashing
  22. Seriously, are we trying to win a flag or run a player benevolent fund If Newton was able to double his performances he would only be a C grade player or depth. Whats the point, surely 6 years is a more than reasonable amount of time to assess a player. Its time to try some new promising talent. Its called list management. This is not to knock Juice, I'm sure he's a nice guy and tries his best, but he's had his chance and he doesn't fit into any premiership plans. Time to move on, the clock is running down and there's no place for misguided sentimentality or inglorious phantasising
  23. Please, please, lets not start a "revive juice newton" movement 6 excruciating years was painful enough are dees supporters born masochists?
  24. maybe they meant Maric?
