  1. Well put Dapper. A considered, objective, balanced and frank appraisal of the situation
  2. Do I detect a little hesitation there Old Dee? We'll swing you around yet (despite your venerable years)
  3. No disrespect WYL but I have a problem believing the AFL could be that cynical or conniving. I like to bash Dimwit and the AFL as much as anyone but if there is truth in that I'd be really disillusioned. Call me naive
  4. Welcome back WYL - good points I just dont get this "it is enforced by the TV networks" argument - why? FCS, look at the changes in TV broadcasting Color TVs High Definition Digital (still improving) 50" + monster screens PVRs with one button live replay/pause/zoom etc One touch recording 3D TV sports broadcasting coming Internet TV with all the tricks this provides Improved Digital Cameras Cable TV with pick your camera view options etc, etc Plus all this will only get better I would say that TV (now) provides for better viewing (ie less clash) than being at the ground
  5. Old Dee, if it is won it won't be me. There are many 1000's of fans not just from MFC but many clubs who keep demonstrating their dislike and bewilderment. Regimes come and go, opinions can change. The fact that all teams away strips will look substantially the same (especially from a distance or someone with poor eyesight on tv) eventually (as you point out) will be the ultimate socialisation and homogenisation of the game and people won't like it. Anyway, enough of my babbling (wheres WYL when you need him) Edit: Oops, spoke too soon
  6. "until you are as old as me" - how do you know i'm not already? "a battle you have a small chance of winning" - all the more challenging! "You are wasting valuable energy" - thanks for considering my energy valuable, but I have enough spare We can agree to disagree, eh BTW you probably think its an obsession with me. It's not. I just don't have to agree or "accept" something I don't like nor agree with the reasons for. All the best, DC
  7. More strange behaviour by Brendan Fevola
  8. Or better still, why not use it as our regular CLASH JUMPER After all, it only clashes with umpires, and that is easily fixed This could be THE solution
  9. With all due respect old dee, I think most of us more vocal critics do understand all the above We know its not something that will change in the short-term We don't believe that it must necessarily be like that for all time It will be a long battle, but we're up to it The red and the blue forever
  10. I responded to your "By the sounds of things" comment (yeah, I see that can have different meanings) Didn't mean to gripe, sorry about that, just meant to clarify that he didn't verbally make any references Guess we'll all have to wait and see on final 2011 clash design FWIW, my money would be on the "MFC" lettering with maybe also a small new-demon logo somewhere . . . but who knows (I'm still against white, but if we have to have it lets make it the best possible design)
  11. ah, but now you are shifting the goalposts - fail of course its not going to happen, thats why I said I'd take it in a heartbeat
  12. I agree with you I don't WANT to see him go But, I can see why he MIGHT become a trading possibility (hence the speculation)
  13. What, you dont like ? Jacobs to Port Trengrove to Melbourne Warnock to Carlton I'd take that in a heartbeat
  14. I'm FULLY aware of that, doh I just said that he didn't make any reference to any influence from demonland The possibility of the MFC letters on the jumper was obvious to anyone who had an early peek at the emblem that clearer for you
  15. he possibly saw them, but did he like them? nothing to indicate in what he said I'd speculate something based on new emblem or part of it (e.g. MFC letters) or, the new demon logo he alluded to
  16. Umpires NEVER look acceptable, thats why they are umpires Umpires should be heard but not seen
  17. except that Breast Cancer one in Pink actually I thought it was going to look quite odd, but after a couple of minutes I found it quite acceptable Colour actually looked like Magenta, and guess what magenta is also called - yes - FUSCHIA PINK/FUSCHIA//MAGENTA Was this our original heritage colour???
  18. I understand the AFL has temporarily reduced the minimum number of draftees per club and will count rookie upgrades as drafts This is due to the reduced number of cattle available due to the Jan-Apr 17 YOs snaffled up by GC17 last year, and to lack of high draft picks available due to GC17's high number of first round picks. Someone here hopefully will respond with the exact numbers
  19. and whites never look good with the red and the blue (Unless you're a scragger of course)
  20. They also may get home ground preferences depending A real home advantage eg MFC vs Essendon at MCG (where MFC finish higher) A pseudo home advantage eg Geelong vs Adelaide at MCG (where Geelong finish higher) No home advantage eg if MFC played Geelong at MCG (where Geelong finished higher)
  21. spot on about middle class welfare . . . but now we're getting serious yes, good luck Sammy Blease (please), he needs a break (oops, sorry)
  22. don't be so touchy chook. just a little off-topic flippant repartee on a very slow demonland afternoon. . . . ah well back to clock watching
