  1. Of all of our players these two are needed on the park. Can anyone tell us how fit they actually are? Is Brock McLean moving well? Is Jared Rivers moving freely and is his groin repaired?
  2. To shut it down seems strange. Is there a good reason?
  3. So which is it? You care or you don't have any interest?
  4. The same state govt. who has achieved nothing except the continual lining of corporate profits at tax payer expense. The same AFL who presides over the most inequitable draw in sport. The same MCC who just gave us $1 million. The same media which if I'm reading the same articles as you have been pretty kind and objective of late. The Coterie, a bunch of self serving know it alls who think they should have a say in running the club!. Thanks but no thanks I'll take Jim and the current board anytime and will applaud loudly when a sponsor is signed. Comparing us to the Dogs is absurd, they're years ahead in their redevelopment. This club is going to take 10 + years to really turn around so you may as well be patient and do us all a favour, hold the dribble!
  5. The club finds itself at the end of a run of outs, chief execs being sacked, two bottom finishes, a raw coach and list, the worst draw of all clubs, no real home, no guarantee of a future and if reading this thread is anything to go by, a group of supporters who's faith has been stretched to past breaking point. And we wonder why we can't find a sponsor! On the upside the club has a talented young list, a sort of home in Casey, a spirited and determined board, an AFL and MCC who are still backing the club and a group of supporters who chipped in over $3 million dollars. All in all I'd say we're past the bottom that we had to have. A sponsor will come, and over the next 3 -4 years they will get their monies worth. We still have some selling points, tradition, the MCC, Jack Watts. Someone will turn up

  7. I know Mo, you can barrack for Hawthorn, you probably voted Yes to the merger anyway. As the saying goes, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going" That doesn't mean going in the other direction Mo! Stynes and Co. have done an amazing job in such a short time. Surely you'll back them for a couple of years whilst we get this group of youngsters up and running. Regarding the sponsor, the club would have several negotitions going on. They need to be careful what they say so we are going to have to trust in them Mo. You can do that can't you?
  8. Vandernberg was a very ordinary footballer who turned out to be a useful stop gap captain when the Hawks were the worst team in the league.
  9. The longer people work in the corporate world the more ok they become with spending money in ever more extravagant ways. The heads of the AFL, in the middle of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, decide on an oversees holiday in the name of business. Please tell me the benefits this will bring our competition or the thousands of club members who keep it afloat? The prcedent that 11 years of John Howard set is, Look after yourself, [censored] everybody else, especially if they are stupid enough to be poor.
  10. Mclean appears to be the "captain in waiting" which is fair enough considering his struggle to get on the field. JMac is similar to Viney in thay his appointment is not seen as long term. If Brock wants to be captain in 2010 then all he needs to do is play 16+ good games of football, help the kids and lead by example. JMac won't play in 2010 and if they wanted Bruce or Green to be captain they already would be. Over to you Brock. But just remember in 3-4 years time the 2 Jacks will be ready if you aren't.
  11. Gary Lyon was elite Jack Watts will be elite, hopefully so will Grimes and Morton
  12. All good stuff. We can't move away from the MCG on a permanent basis. Casey is great for summer but we need to stake a presence at th MCG, our survival depends on it. I hope the club forgets about Bubbledome and waits until the Southern Stand is redeveloped. Having our admin and football dept. together during the season is a must. The club needs to push the MCG to allow us 1 training session a month on the ground. On these occasions they can gather as many supporters/interested people/Casey juniors/disadvantaged kids/the media as possible to come down and watch. CC, Jim Stynes, Schwab and Dean Bailey could each give a short talk to all of us about what the club's upto and some ex players/legends could come down and really make us all feel part of this great club. They could talk some history, some funny stories, who cares just come and get us involved. It's gotta be the MCG. For f$$ks sake it's basically built on the club's back.
  13. Morton, Watts, Grimes, Maric, Blease, Strauss and Jurrah have the pedigree and draft rankings to suggest we have the nucleus of a fantastic side for the future. Let's hope the likes of Buckley, Bate, Sylvia, Dunn, Jones, Garland, Frawley, Martin, Petterd and Wonaemirri continue to develop and find consistent form to match their abilities. Throw an injury free run to Mclean, Davey, Miller, Rivers and PJ. A couple of smokey's in McNamara, Jetta, Bennell. Bail and Cheney, some wise heads in Green, Bruce and McDonald and who know's what will happen in 09. Hell, Newton might even decide to pull his finger out!! Maybe it's the footy free time or the sun but I'm starting to think that improvement may be closer than we think. Of course there's a chance next week I'll be back thinking that drafting Butcher and Scully in 09 is the way to go. Oh the mind and it's changing ideas!!!
  14. I'm in! 4 wins, 1 draw. 1 win 1 draw against Collingwood. 1 win against Richmond/Cousins.(to consign them to 9th) 1 big win against Carlton.(To keep them out of the 8) 1 epic come from behind win against Hawthorn. 11 losses by less than 25 points. 5 by less than 10. 1 by 42(just to keep a semblance of reality to this post)
  15. Q. Where would this club be if Stynes hadn't put up his hand? A. Not worth considering!
  16. Pretty sure that what Schwab's up to on a daily basis. If you read his remarks today an announcement MAY be imminent. Here's hoping. Amongst the obvious benefits lies the great PR an agreement would have.
  17. My feeling is an announcement pretty soon with a well known company. Expecting in these financial times to be on less than Primus but with incentives when we reach the finals. Say $800,000 in 2009 upto $1.5 whan we win the flag in 2012. I'd say the company will make us work for it too. With players promotions and the like. Just a hunch!
  18. I see your point but the fact remains we made the bed we currently lie in, blaming others is not the answer.
  19. No could about it, she/he wants romance, this sort of thing makes Roses and Chocolate and Roaring Fires seem very ordinary. And the evening will probably end with nudity and the potential of producing another Demon!
  20. The MCC does support this football club. It has been a case of the club shooting itself for the best part of 45 years. The MCC is not to blame WE ARE! The club has been run into the ground by years of mismanagement trading off a name that lost it's lustre long ago. We appear to finally have a good mix of people in charge. We have somewhere to train(F**k me that took along time). We look to have repaired the relationships with both the MCC and AFL. Now is not the time to be lobbying anyone except other supporters, and maybe a sponsor or two!
  21. We'll need more information than that, get typing!
  22. Did love watching him in big games. As for Jack he'll be one of the greats if injury stays away. He's got everything. Great size, great skills, great pace and agility and most of all he's got the desire. 2 or 3 seasons time he'll start to flourish. Good times ahead.
