  1. It's people like you that put this club here. What are you going to do when the club is thriving again?
  2. No need to panic. This is a break down in talks between the AFL and MCC and in reality is only partly to do with the MFC. A resolution will be found.
  3. F##k history, Looking back at last year we're all pretty confident about Morton, Grimes and Maric. I reckon everyone of our picks including Jurrah and the rookies will play some good footy for us
  4. Shouldn't I buy them if your that accurate? I'll tell you what I buy 2 more if we get to 38,000 members. One thing everyone needs to remember is that we ned these memberships to be ongoing.
  5. Contracted until the end of 2010. Sad but true.
  6. HT. I'll wager you 1 Demon Heartland membership we get over 35,000 members in 2009. Now there's a bet no good Demon can lose!
  7. 35,000+ without even breaking into a sweat. I might have to up my original prediction of 38,000+ Wouldn't it be great if like Carlton we won the preseason comp.
  8. Maybe it's as simple as the club recruiting the best available talent with each pick. I'd say Sibosado is a poor man's Jurrah so why pick both if Mckenzie is available and the club deems him a better player and prospect. From what I gather Mckenzie and Healey are ball getters with reasonable speed, good skills and lots of endeavour. If you look at our ball getters we don't have an abundance of fit, injury free ball getters on our list so really the club should be applauded for not taking the player with "potential" but rather the players with the attributes this club needs. I was deinitely in the "recruit KPP" group pre draft, but I never wanted the club to pick them if they weren't anygood. We've got a good list in the making with a coach who most believe can get the job done. Good times ahead.
  9. Will you come if they build the train to the stadium?
  10. Looking after recruits such as Liam need not cost the club much money, if any. Put him up with a good family as all young recruits do and get the players to spend time helping him settle in. If he needs to go home once a year so be it. I'm sure the club could find the airfare without too much difficulty. Wona went home last year and I think Aaron's been home during the season before. It's not a big deal and it's all part of the club being sensitive to players needs. They are fairly important to us and deserve to be taken care of. The guy clearly wants to play AFL so we're half way there already.
  11. I think you'll find we'll be playing the strongest side we can. We need to win all the early games we can. We need a sponsor, the money and to sell as many memberships as we can. Playing that side would be unlikely to help us in any way. Maybe next year though!
  12. I've always been an advocate of playing games at Casey 2 Small drawing games involving interstae clubs played at Casey, with Footscray and North and even St Kilda doing the same. MFC gets 10 home games at the G and 2 away games where members receive reciprical rights, funded through our relationship with the G and the AFL. Casey will only make money(in the way Kardinia Park makes money for Geelong) if members are forced to buy a reserved seat. This is a little unlikely considering we'd be lucky to get 20,000 people to the stadium. We would however benefit greatly from the interaction with the local community and hopefully the cost of playing there is kept to a minimum, allowing us to turn losses into profits without playing interstate. However I think we should also get the MCC to close the top tier of the ground at all our matches involving interstae sides. Allow kids onto the ground at at least one, preferably all these games and have the MCC help us promote these games through their newsletters and their regular ads in the friday papers. Access to the change rooms for kids needs to be reintroduced. Getting the players not playing to roam the ground talking to supporters and giving away Demon supporter packs and the like. All these things would increase the numbers at games. Even selling memberships where players sit and talk to you during the breaks, explaining tactics and players roles with these members. The club needs to do lots of the little things as I don't believe their's a silver bullet that will fix all our problems. This club has been so badly run and so inactive for so long it's great to have Stynes and co in charge.
  13. Personally if you rate Newton I think BB has every right to call Jetta a brilliant prospect. Personally I think he's closer to the truth, although I too live in hope that Newton will pull his finger out and commit his talents to football.
  14. Add the potential of McNamara, Cheney, Spencer and who knows even Newton and Zomer(maybe a longshot but with the right application and coaching, who knows) Hopefullu we'll sign up to the G soon and off we go. As for 09, I'd say development year at best and think we'll be close to the bottom again. 2010 - 2016 look extremely exciting. 3 words for the club at the start of 09 Leadership, Optimism and PASSION, sure beats the rabble we had at the end of 07. Go you mighty Demons!
  15. $160, you can pay monthly. Too easy. Buy a couple of Demon Heartland tickets as well. Then the club will really roll
  16. It's a fair point. For a few reasons I think more people are inclined to help the likes of North than of Melbourne. I know 6 Melbourne folk who have signed up this year who only signed up because of Stynes and the new board. These are people who believe the club is finally making the right moves regarding it's future. All are MCC members and 5 have taken out full memberships. It's these people we need first and foremost, I mean they are lifelong MFC supporters who are finally getting on board, keeping them on board is the next job. That will take some hard work by the club from the players to the marketing staff. Then it's the new supporters to work on out at Casey. In my opinion we'll roll past 35,000 without any trouble. Jack Watts is worth quite a few on his own. Anything less would be dissapointing.
  17. I guess it's probably run it's course anyway. I'd had a bad week and felt like an argument, better with Mo than my partner!
  18. So what's the point talking about Williams?
  19. Would you take Valenti ahead of anyone we've recruited this year? If you answer yes can you give us a reason. P.S. This has become argument for argument's sake.
  20. And Mo your point is. I'm looking forward to this. Is this the bit where you tell me Bailey's recruited all the wrong players and Valenti is the real answer.
  21. Another cheap, ill founded response Mo. I haven't pencilled anything in even though alomost all of these players are way ahead of Valenti at this stage in their careers. If Valenti had half the talent and potential of these guys we wouldn't be having this discussion.
  22. If we don't grant our new coach the luxury of time how is anything at this club going to change. He inherited a basket case and in 2 years has cleaned out the deadwood and thanks to lowly finishes, drafted what appears to be some talented youth. What is it you wanted him to do? As for using Williams, Hart and Mitchell to spin an argument on Valenti your clutching at straws. These 3 are exceptions to the rule and considering the lack of research that went into new players then compared to now the comparison is worthless. Valenti is almost 22 and hasn't shown much to suggest he'll be anymore than a bit player while our new recruits establish their place in the team. The club's decision to rookie list him confirms this and in my opinion he won't make the grade and will be cut at year's end. No offence to the guy intended.
