  1. It's an even and honest appraisal, albeit at my second attempt.
  2. Not necessarily. Recruiters know that Butcher is injured and has been for most of this year. They are going to have to look at last year's form and the extent of his injuries when making up there minds. From all the reports I've read and the vision I've seen he's a quality tall. Do we need a player who can develop into a smash and grab forward, oh yes we do.
  3. You can't write this about Bailey and then respond with your line about it being all about next year. You suggest that Bailey should have lost his job because we have won 2 spoons in a row even though this is exactly what he was employed to do. For the first time ever the club has done a thorough clean out and is rebuilding through the draft, you don't need to applaud the coach but he deserves the respect of the supporters for what he has achieved so far. I'd be very surprised if Bailey wasn't coaching this club in 2011.
  4. Is this a serious post. You dismiss them like they have no idea. Here's one for you BROCKSTARS - Will say just about anything to prove his point. Sorry to be rude but fair dinkum. Surely by now you realise that Bailey has half a squad to choose from and is under clear instructions to win no more than 4 games. Mission accomplished.
  5. 1. Watts 2. Scully 3. Grimes 4. Morton 5. Frawley 6. Garland 7. Blease 8. Jurrah 9. Strauss 10. Sylvia
  6. Bartram - Don't mind either way Bell - Gone Buckley - as above post PJ - Hope he goes Mcdonald, Robbo, Whelan - Retire Newton - Pay him out and f##k him off Spencer - must retain Wheatley - Retire or move on Miller - keep, just. What has happened to him. He looks terrible at the moment. Valenti - gone
  7. I'm yet to make up my mind on Buckley and if he's delisted I won't lose any sleep. Having said that look at it another way. Buckley runs hard and fast, takes possession of the pill, looks up and has absolutely nothing to kick or handball too, so he kicks long. His fault or the fault of a team that over the last 2 years has had no structure for this kind of fast movement. Just a thought. Personally, if he's upto a full preseason I think they should retain him for 1 more year.
  8. If Lyon wants to coach the club, which I think he and others still think is a possibility, he needs to get up to speed. Hence he's off to coach the best youngsters in the country, pretty good training you would think, espcially for a young team like Melbourne. He knows Bailey deserves more time and thus he signs with 9 for two more years to promote stability. If coaching Melbourne in a year or two is the grand plan I forsee 2 problems. One is that Bailey begins winning games and makes the eight, or nearly makes it, next year. Can't really sack him now can we? Second problem is that if Melbourne keep getting flogged during the first half of next year and find themselves at 1 and 12, not exactly what everyone is hoping for. What happens now? Do we rush Lyon in to the top spot? Would there be other, more qualified people putting their hands in the air? Todd Viney perhaps, I mean his son will be with us soon. To me it looks as though Lyon is setting himself for the top job at Melbourne, he has the backing of the President and the CEO and most supporters would welcome him with open arms. The hard work of turning over the list will have been done and the club should be on the verge of a successful period. Is it fair on Bailey? What's fair in this sport? Is it the best thing for the club? Only if we win a premeirship. If this happens the club better be right on the money, something it hasn't been for over 40 years. Romance or Reality, It would seem both will be used to promote this move.
  9. With a talent pool well shorter than the injury list. Ask Rchmond if any coach can lose to get draft picks, even with the worst list they can't do it. He's getting praised for getting Melbourne picks 1 and 2. Surely you can work that out. White should put a cork in it, He Comes from a time when mediocrity was accepted. I know Jeff we should beat Richmond and the Swans and setle for pick 5 instead of playing hardball and taking picks 1 and 2.
  10. When injury free he's dominated. I would doubt that he won't become a very good player. Do we pick him above Trengove - Over to you Barry. My gut tells me we will The reason being is that our list is 3 -4 years away from establishing itself, giving both Butcher and Watts plenty of time to learn the game at AFL level. We've got a plethora of mids including pick 18 if we see fit, not to mention the next few drafts. Good talls don't come around very often thus Butcher would still be squarely in the club's sights. Scully, Sylvia, Grimes, Blease, Morton, Petterd, Strauss, Davey, Bennell, Jetta, Jones, Moloney, Mclean - that's alot of midfielders and I know they won't all make it but they don't all have to.
  11. F:Woaeamirri Watts McNamara HF: Jurrah Butcher Bate It's not getting any worse down there
  12. I've been a believer in Dunn and still have hopes for him as a forward. He still has along way to go to prove his worth but on the upside he's getting some games and appears to be hitting the ball and the packs harder than before. He knows he's on the chopping block and he's finally starting to play like it. A 1 year contract is all he's worth.
  13. I think we'll be seeing Butcher in Red and Blue next year
  14. In the nick of time I would say
  15. I've read some ridiculous posts on this site but this one is right up close to the top. We're a club playing for draft picks with most of our best players in the spa getting ready for preseason on Oct 15 and you roll out this rubbish. Are you telling us that adding Scully, let's say Trengove, Pick 17, pick 1 pre season, Watts, Jurrah, Blease, Strauss, Green, Grimes, Wonaeamirri, Garland, Bennell and the rest won't make us a quality side in 2 '3 years time. I'm watching a text book rebuild being handled professionally for the first time by this club and you lose faith at the bottom of the J curve. As Ronald Dale would say "Have a good hard look at yourself son"
  16. I just hope he's better. I'm also starting to lean toward the club taking Butcher but it's just a hunch. He's been forgotten lately after his poor champs. I think the FD still have a close eye on him and he's a Victorian kid which I reckon helps.
  17. Dean Bailey is the Messiah - he's also a very naughty boy
  18. Petterd and Wonaeamirri are firmly in the club's sights as starting 18 players
  19. If you can play Garland I'm going to add a few of the others B: Bennell Warnock Rivers HB: Garland Frawley Green C: Blease Grimes Davey HF: Petterd Butcher Morton F: Bate Watts Jurrah FOLL: Meesen Scully Sylvia INT: Wonaeamirri Jones Maric Strauss Martin Jones Dunn Jetta Moloney Mclean Bruce Jamar McNamara (Remember it's Thursday - extended bench) Give this side half a season and it'll [censored] your side
  20. Was anyone there last night?
