  1. Couldn't agree more. I'm going to really enjoy roaring past them in the year's to come.
  2. We our currently suffering from a Leadership Void. Personally I'd like to see one of Grimes, Watts, Scully or Trengove as the next Captain, problem is none of them are over 19, one has an injury possibly clouding his future, one's only played 3 games and 2 aren't even on our list yet. Davey will go close if he takes another step forward this year. Who else is there?
  3. Moloney's a fantastic club man and I thought it was great that he showed his passion at the B & F. I couldn't give a toss about Mclean anymore and I'd be happy to see Moloney standing over him with a snarl after putting him into the turf. However does this make Moloney Captain material, I don't think so. He's just not a talented enough footballer to lead what is fast turning into an extremely talented lineup. Remember the next Captain of this club will be expected to lead us to our first Premeirship in over 45 years.
  4. We held our nerve in our first fine display of tanking for the season
  5. I was not aware that Jurrah had asked Robertson for his number.
  6. Not just Melbourne supporters think "The Demons" are coming in 2012
  7. Would much prefer someone of Liam's extraordinary talents made a number his own. Can't help but think that this is another case of Robertson's ego getting the better of him. Players who "hand" there jumpers on need to encapsulate what it means to be a top line "team" player, for all his good points Russell wasn't this player.
  8. Winning is never boring, it never has been and it never will be.
  9. A balanced an intelligent journalist might seek to speak to the club before offering up this tripe. Of course they didn't and made several glaring errors, thus I'll call it 'ill informed'. Of course that's just my opinion!
  10. What are the Dees thinking? Sportal - October 13, 2009, 12:34 pm October 12! The Caulfield Cup is still days away, the Melbourne Cup still three weeks away and the domestic cricket season has barely started. And as for the Boxing Day Test and the Australian Tennis Open, well they have barely registered on the sporting radar as yet. Yet there is AFL wooden spooner Melbourne beginning its pre-season training campaign for a competition that doesn't start for another five-and-a-half months or four months if you include a pre-season competition that is on its last legs in terms of public interest anyway and is likely to be scrapped once the Gold Coast enters the competition in 2011. And the question that has to be asked is why? While the move will no doubt have the support of frustrated Demons fans everywhere after watching their team finish last in the past two seasons, it's a move that is more about image and being seen to do something different to lift an ailing team than one that will have any practical benefit come the start of the 2010 home-and-away season. Fans will no doubt argue that the Demons' players have had their six weeks' annual leave after their season finished at the end of August and as highly-paid professionals what else should they be doing at this time of the year. And shouldn't they be taking every opportunity to improve after two dreadful seasons under coach Dean Bailey anyway? But surely a team in Melbourne's position - worn down by two years of constant defeats - would need as much time as possible to mentally refresh for another season next year. Hell the club has not even staged it's best and fairest count for the 2009 SEASON yet. What possible motivation is there for the senior players in particular training at this time of the year when their first pre-season match is still four months away? Melbourne's problem is not that their team isn't fit enough or well prepared enough to compete with rival teams but rather its talent pool is thin after years of poor recruiting and list management decisions. And starting training in mid October is hardly going to fix that. Only years of smart drafting and nurturing of young talent can solve Melbourne's woes. Premiers Geelong and runners-up St Kilda will not begin their pre-season campaigns for at least another month but who would you back in a match in Round One next year between Melbourne and either of those teams despite the fact the Demons will have been training for a month longer? And while the Demons' decision may benefit them in the pre-season competition, when only the most hardcore of fans care about results, it's hard to see how the team will be fresh in the tough winter months of July and August next season when they have already been slaving away on the training track for almost 10 months by then. Indeed you could easily argue that beginning pre-season training now will have an adverse affect on the team at the business end of next season rather than a benefit. But when you have won just seven games in two years you have to be seen to be doing something, anything to gain a so-called competitive edge over rival clubs hence why the Melbourne players are already slogging it out before even a single Sheffield Shield game has been played this cricket season. Is the guy really this stupid?
  11. Unfortunately you can't spend money you haven't got
  12. [censored], it's all happening
  13. Carlton are an average top 8 side destined to dissapoint when it matters, Watching Judd and co. bow out of finals just as the Demons begin to emerge is going to be very sweet. Picture this: Melbourne V Carlton, elimination Final 2011. Carlton lead by 38 points only to watch Scully, Watts and co cut loose on the G, As Scully rips the ball from Judd's grasp to kick the winning goal he gives him a little wink just to say, "Thanks for choosing Carlton loser" before ramming into the Carlton Cheersquad behind the goals. It's going to be one sweet ride this one, espcially as we'll skip past the likes of Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong and Hawthorn to win that elusive 13th flag.
  14. The club has played this one to perfection. Brock leaves on his own accord , even though the club was clearly happy with the move. We get a solid pick in the draft and Brock gets the opportunity to possibly play finals from next year. That's a win - win in my book. I rated Mclean highly and was happy to have him as Captain but this year really opened my eyes to his downside.
  15. We're not going to get a first round pick for him because of his injury cloud. His suns going to come out next year and my bet is he'll be wearing Red and Blue.
  16. My hope is that if Melbourne rate him as a really good young coach then we'll keep him. I don't want the club to lose anyone they want to keep. Really good people are hard to find. There's more coaches and assistant coaches running around the AFL than ever before. I'll bet less than 15% are really good at what they do. If West is, then we have to keep him. We need to become the best again.
  17. I'm quite a fan of Liam's passes as well. He can take threading a needle to a whole new level.
  18. Rivers will get his first full preseason in probably 5 years on the back of a pretty much injury free season, to suggest there's no upside in a 24 year old with his talent is off the mark. However, although I'm a huge fan and don't want him leaving, pick 9 would be too much to resist. Can't see a club going that high though.
  19. Roost It

    Hawthorn

Money doesn't buy happiness and just imagine hanging out with 49,999 Hawthorn supporters. I'll stick with the Demons, yes it's painful but I love it
  20. That's what Scully will say when he realises the truth of this great club. He'll look over at Punt Road and think, "There but for the grace of Jordie go I", or in more simple terms "Thank #### for that"
  21. My bet is Scully and possibly Trengove, along with more midfield time for Grimes and Sylvia might just improve his coaching
  22. I'm hoping he meant "didn't like him as captain", not as a player.
