Gawn's recovering from a knee reco so I presumed he was injured. Fritzpatrick and Mckenzie/Spencer can swap at round 11. So I ask you the question. What are you talking about?
-
It's a pretty safe bet that both Spencer and Mckenzie will be playing seniors this year. Gawn can become a rookie and play with Casey. He needs at least a year, if not more to, get upto speed. Looking at Fitzpatrick I wouldn't be surprised if he was rookied as well. That's without any injuries. Hughes and Healey are half a chance as well. We have to see if they can play AFL and to do that we have to upgrade them. It would surprise me no end if Hughes remains on the list next year without a chance at AFL level. Mckenzie showed on Saturday that he has some talent and probably the desire to make it at AFL level. His efforts at winning the hard ball would not of gone unnoticed. I'm betting he's a fan of the coaches and I'd have him ahead of Bell, Bartram, Johnson and possibly Bail as playing for us next year.

If the weather is fine and Melbourne shows some form in the NAB cup I'd predict close to 60,000. Almost 40,000 turned up to a twilight game in May last year. If Barack shows the crowd will top 65,000. I'll take bets on closest to the pin without Barack. 58,973

Thanks for the report. Confirms what all bar a few of us already know. Watching Sylvia develop into the player we hoped fors has been a shining light in 3 shocking seasons of football

You can work this out watching one intaclub match from a guy coming back from injury. Impressive! When Scully's had a few year's in the system he will make Licuria look what he is - Yet another good ordinary Collingwood player.
-
I think your thread'a a year too late. I ubderstand your points but watch him this year. He's clearly turned a corner off the field both with his behaviour and his training. His OP is behind him and he's Usain Bolt compared to Brock 'I choose Carlton' Mclean. He's very rarely rubbed out so that's a silly point. People such as Colin who come from a point of adversity(OP) with a history of immature behaviour who are able to turn it around and become solid performers often make the best leaders. They know what sacrifices have to be made and work through their issues. I don't think he's a captain but he could become an important on field leader.

If we show some form in the preseason games and the Hawks keep coming then I'd expect close to 60,000 without Obama, anything less would be a poor result.

For us to win games we need improvement from the likes of Dunn, Petterd, Maric, Martin, Bate and Consistent injury free games from Jamar, Green and Bruce. No offence but the players you mention are well on their way already.
-
He also used it very very well a couple of times.
-
I strongly urge people take a step backward before condemming Maric. The guy is incredibly young, has battled injury and is clearly improving his fitness and his size. I think he'll have many eating their words. We are way to quick to condemn. Remember what duds Frawley and Garland were.

Alistair Nicholson would be lucky to win 1 out of 100. Flower consistently beat bigger and stronger opponents throughout his entire career, I'm guessing by that comment you never saw him play. i suggest you hire some video's, it'll make you weep that you missed it.
-
Personally 4 out of the 5 players I've mentioned will have a big say in how well we travel this year. They all need to take their games forward if we are to improve significantly.
-
Dunn - needs game time to prove himself and thus needs a position to play in. I like him as a forward flanker who can play on the Heath Shaw types and limit their rebound as well as popping up for 1 - 3 goals. This is what I'm hoping they've been grooming him for but only time will tell. 2010 of vital importance to his career as a Demon. Petterd - Will they persist with him as a forward. I'm a big fan and believe his best footy is as a half back/winger. In saying that I thought he played some good footy as a forward. No doubting he could play midfield but competition for spots is going to get tighter. I'm betting he'll take whatever position is offered and produce some fine football - One to watch in 2010. Bate - Has the potential to become a super important component in our forward line. Needs to kick some more goals. Can he hold down a key position or will he play a little further up the ground and send the ball deep with his prodigious kick. For mine I think he sits on the opposite flank to Dunn, gives his opponent hell and kicks some goals from 60metres out. In 2010 we will possibly see how good this kid is going to be. Comes with continued rave reviews and although I rate him I'm not sure how high that rating is - 2010 may well tell. Maric - Lets hope he stays injury free and has a chance to show us how good he can be. 2010 is not make or break for him but if Jetta and Wonaeamirri turn it on he will be wanting to show something. I hold no fears about Maric and reckon he'll be a gun. Jones - Love the guy, wears his heart on his sleeve and will continue to work extremely hard on all aspects of his game. Will never be as good as Judd but could he become as good as Todd Viney? I hope he persists with his bash and crash and learns to shake himself through the tackles like Todd could. In a few years it could come down to him or Moloney for the in and under spot in the team. Personally I think Jonesy's the better player. With the likes of Scully, Trengove, Grimes and Morton around he will have some rich talent to support. Expect more improvement in 2010 but will see his best in 2012-2016. Can't wait!

Wear it at home, it'll feel good.

Give it away bro, Robbie Flower would walk into any of today's teams and still be a champion. He's in the top 25 players to have ever played the game. Davey didn't even make it into the top 25 for AA in arguably his best season. This is meant as no insult to Davey who continues to improve and should do so again this year. When we talk Flower we talk about the greats of the game. When we talk Davey we talk about a very good footballer, there's a massive difference.

Ever thought about displaying logos of businesses who sponsor the site?

Demonland.com ranked 16th Aussie Rules Website
Roost It replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great effort by all iinvolved. It appears it's done on hits to the site so a special award should go to High Tower who's keyboard is punished by both websites. Personally i think we should merge the 2 sites as 1. -
The talk of Davey started as a dicussion over his worth to the team. I'd say davey is just as important off the field as on and that's why we couldn't let him go like Mclean.
-
I'd be confident in saying that Davey is profoundly more important to the psyche of our club than a lot of others we could lose, including Mclean

50% a Richmond friend, 25% Collingwood friend, 25% My own flourishes.

It's on again. What's your prediction. Furthest from the pin buys a Demon's Heartland Membership. I'm going with 33,897

Nicely put

Don't be too quick to underestimate the importance of Davey to both our team and the indigenous players. I'd say 5 years behind may however be rubbish as you say.
-
I'd have Maric and Jetta in the team and Wonamaearri damn close to being in the team. That's the beauty of these 3, very evenly matched on talent. Who would I want lining up for a match winning goal - Maric. Maric in a pocket, Jetta on the wing, Wona on the bench

I'm in, but my heavy bias for Melbourne means 8 players out of 30 wearing red and blue
