  1. There are leaks and there are snippets of half truths that are strategically allowed to be dispersed in order to achieve a certain objective. If any of this is true I would place it in the latter category.

  3. Sounds plausible. Something different needs to be done. You could argue that going to the draft again is the same, but it will be done with different recruiters withe different targets and priorities.
  4. Sounds like Wines.
  5. With this group we are going to get what we have always got. The same players will come out and play decent footy and try to drag the others up. I really feel for N Jones. Then there are those that have neither the desire or ability to play AFL football.
  6. I was disappointed when Roosy convinced him to stay at the end of last season. Honestly would have loved to see the back of him then and his currency would have been greater. I think the rest of the footy world can now see that regardless of his place in the draft he isn't AFL standard. Physically and mentally not up to it.
  7. Just lay a [censored] tackle
  8. I am done with this mob Over it.
  9. From my outside perception I think Sylvia had real ability but had neither the brains or will to work on his deficiencies. This is arrogance. It's an arrogance that followed him to Freo when again he thought his physique and perceived natural talent would be enough to get him a game. And on getting a game failing to adhere to standards. Clearly there is a patttern of arrogance and individualism there. Compared him to someone like Nathan Jones who had the burning desire to improve his game and did so.
  10. Joins a long line of players that had real ability but lacked drive. We still have some on the list, they need to be developed, changed or weeded out.
  11. I believe that we will end up with our preferred applicant.
  12. Possibly, but K Rock definitely stated that " Cameron Ling has met with Melbourne and is set to be announced as the new coach of the Melbourne Football Club" It was a five second report, only reporting what I heard. No more, no less. http://krock.com.au/news/krock-sport/50924-lingy-in-line-for-demons-job
  13. May or may not be accurate...a Geelong radio station I was listening to this morning reported that Ling was set to be announced as the next coach of the MFC.
  14. Why not have a whole bevy of assistants vying for the position. One can be eliminated by phone polling every week.
  15. http://www.northerndailyleader.com.au/story/2310184/demons-next-coach-must-follow-roos-strategy/?cs=12 ''They'll have to be someone the club trusts will continue that direction, that the players trust will continue that direction,'' he said. ''You wouldn't want me to do what I'm doing for two or three years and then someone to come in and completely change the game plan.'' http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/mark-thompson-on-list-to-coach-dees-says-paul-roos-20140526-zrp12.html Thompson later endorsed former Geelong captain Cameron Ling for the post, saying he was an "on-field coach" with the Cats. "He used to drive the standards at Geelong," Thompson said.
  16. As a senior coach, none. I could be wrong but those who don't want Ling to be the incumbent coach might need to get used to the idea.
  17. An experienced assistant coach is exactly that, and there are multiple examples of failures. Voss and Hird probably have everyone edgy which is understandable. Ling is a different kettle of fish.
  18. I wonder what experienced assistant coaches out there are looking to serve an apprenticeship role under Roosy? I wonder how much a fresh coach if he was a quick learner, with the right attributes could glean in 2 years under Roos? Is Ling really any more of a risk than appointing a Stewart Dew or similar? I would expect that Roos and Jackson add weight to whether they have the right character to take on the role ie thier ability and willingness to learn, manage people and cope with adversity and overcome. You get that you get the right person, If they don't tick those boxes thier level of experience is irrelevant. For mine Ling ticks the boxes.

  20. The previous two coaches of our club have been highly regarded assistants.
  21. Ok Do we use Carlton or Geelong as the model? Carlton head hunted Pagan and Malthouse for thier "experience". Geelong took a punt on Bomba Thompson. Ling hasn't been out of the game long and if he does get the gig he will have an apprenticeship period under Roos. Would be thrilled for him to land a role at our club. I suppose you could have asked Lingy before he got drafted, if he would play senior footy, become a midfielder, captain his club, win a premiership and own half of Geelong. Would the answer be "no" to those too?
  22. We could go for a Malthouse or a Pagan. Terry Wallace?
  23. Ling was a limited footballer. Started as a Full forward with no tank, ended up a goal kicking, run with player and captained the most successful club in recent history. He is also a very astute and intelligent businessman and manager. Lingy has had to work very hard and has persisted in all facets of his life to make things work. That includes starting at a poor, battling club. He has done a fair bit I would say. From what i know about him her has the right character for a coach. Strong, assured and a galvaniser of people. I am a fan of the bloke. Can he coach, who knows?
