Another ridiculous thread. I've been extremely impressed with what I've seen thus far from this kid. He's still only that too - a kid. In my view, this is a pick we nailed. Along with Tyson, Vince and JKH. Finally.

If it wasn't so depressing, I'd be laughing.

Surely that's safer than swimming at Cottesloe, especially during the pre season months.

But you'd happily trade Watts. Dead set, this is like watching a session of housie at the local CWA.

Even by Demonland standards, some of the carp on this thread is ridiculous. Many of the posters bagging Watts here are bagging Riley on the next thread for having poor disposal, despite being as hard as a cat's head. Another tip - we're never going to have 22 Patrick Dangerfields on the team sheet each week.

The players on our list rate Jack Watts. Some of the uncritical hyperbole on this site is beyond frustrating. Watts is not the problem with our list. He's just one player who would be dynamite with an effective midfield feeding the ball to him. But many people here want him to be Sam Mitchell. Cop a tip - he's not that player.

I like Bail. He's not a gun, but he can be effective. Riley clearly has qualities, but he needs to tighten up a lot, which I think he can/will. Terlich - I don't know what to think about him. Suppose I'll just defer to the likes of Roos, Stone and Rawlings - they know a lot more about the guy than me, and, relevantly, they are hugely experienced and competent and, I believe, have the best interests of the club in their minds when making such decisions - so yep, I'm cool with this decision too. Some of the opinions that have been expressed ofnthis thread are quite simply ludicrous. And disappointing.

But I'm in the camp that thought trading Woewodin absolutely smashed the culture of this club at the time. And I still think that.

Would, however, probably appease a few disgruntled supporters for a few weeks though. In the 'make a decision - any decision' zone.

Got a first round pick which landed Jack Grimes. On balance, a good decision. However, the list is very long in relation to the trades we've done that have turned out to be absolutely deadly for us. And I reckon trading Watts to Carlton for, say, pick 25 would add to that already really unimpressive list.

I'd keep him. We need class, and I don't expect he'd get much more than a second rounder if traded anyway. But, then again, many of you thought having Junior retire was a good decision at the time. There's a reason we have an ordinary culture, and it's not due to Jack Watts.

I can say with absolute certainty that this is not the problem with the club. In fact, if only it was.

Salem clearly has class. Not worried about this kid at all. Bontempelli - well, I'd probably trade my new car to get him to the Dees.

There's a lot of blue sky dreaming going on here. Anyone heard any rumours lately, which might appear a little more realistic?

The reality is - many other, some much larger, clubs have had much more assistance than us in terms of draft picks, salary cap relief and a soft touch being applied in relation to the so-called tanking issue. That one of the best lists in the game can land Kurt Tippett and Buddy Franklin, pretty well after winning a flag, and yet everyone calls foul when we simply ask for something that might assist us to secure a player like that says it all. That we've been utterly hopeless over a long period of time adds weight to the granting of a PP, not the opposite. It's never been designed to go to the really successful clubs. In fact, I actually find it hard to see why successful clubs like Sydney consistently get a leg up - it goes against the whole underlying methodology of the draft. That the MFC was dragged through the ringer on tanking, for as long as it was, and on the basis of literally farcical evidence, was absolutely outrageous. It was also really dumb - but many of those writing the articles and running the investigation have proven themselves time and time again to be just that, so I shouldn't be surprised. In the circumstances, it is abundantly clear that the MFC needs a PP. Why give GWS and the Suns literally dozens of first round draft picks in recent years in order to get them up and running, only to deprive the MFC one now in its circumstances. Makes little sense to me.

The number of first round draft picks that the Suns and GWS have had relative to us would be bordering on ridiculous. And, notwithstanding that, GWS still managed to take our former number one draft pick. That we've been managed very poorly over a long period of time doesn't discount or obviate the need to help us right now. Clearly the club is now being better managed, but it's also clear that our list is very impaired relative to all other lists in the competition due to the woeful mismanagement of past administrations. I'm actually surprised it's a controversial suggestion. Give it to us. Or salary relief like the Swans, Lions, GWS and the Suns (something which people conveniently overlook).
