  1. Nervous about Blease's delisting. Then again, about 7 coaches failed to unlock his potential.
  2. Yep - on reflection, the dungeons and dragons comment was trite and wholly unrelated to any of the issues discussed on this thread. I've made it previously in relation to the footy card trading mentality that seems to have been the focus of several posters through the recent trade period when picks have been bandied about for some of our most important players as though everyone's immediately replaceable. In my view, that mentality can cause supporters to lose sight of what's actually important to building successful football clubs: culture and investment in the people/players who display the right behaviours. There's a reason Simon Goodwin was so impressive to Paul Roos, and why Nev Jetta's been able to re-establish an AFL career. And there's a reason why we couldn't land Dangerfield and others like him despite apparently throwing loads of cash at him and offering plenty of sweeteners to the Crows too. Some people/players set the culture for a club. Frawley IMO did not - no doubt, he's a top bloke, but he's not a leader - certainly not for this club anyway. Nathan Jones is. And that's why I think he will re-sign sooner than some here think.
  3. I'm actually looking for leadership from the players in our leadership group. To my mind, Frawley didn't display this at all. Fortunately, I don't expect this was lost on the likes of Paul Roos, despite what he said to the media for much of the year. Perhaps my standards/expectations are too high for some here in this regard. And why exactly are you asking me to excuse you? If it makes you feel any better, you're excused.
  4. Perhaps. You still think that Frawley will be at the club next year?
  5. I have no mail on this. At all. And yet I have no concern about Jones re-signing with the MFC at all. Just as I had no mail on Frawley. And yet I knew the loyal, country boy was off months before many others here would accept it. This stuff's pretty obvious IMO. Unless, of course, you're into dungeons and dragons and playing teenage trading card games. And not therefore accepting the bleeding obvious about the character of certain players.
  6. Strikes me that way given all of his actions and statements about the club for the whole time he's been on the list. I have seen no evidence from him, at all, to suggest any cause for concern. What strikes you that he may not be loyal?
  7. I would've been pretty annoyed if the club traded Howe. He is loyal, he is talented, he is super fit, he is apparently very coachable, he is a favourite around the joint, the kids love him, and he has 'X factor'. Trading him for pick 6 would've been a very bad decision. But some here think this is all a game - like dungeons and dragons or some carp like that where you're continually trading stuff with other teenagers. Whereas I see this as building/maintaining a footy club. And, in that context, Howe is absolutely a required player for this club.
  8. Not worried at all about Jones re-signing. He will.
  9. This is a good pick to have. This year, at least. It's still a loaded weapon to have up our sleeve. I'm very pleased the club held its nerve on not trading picks 2 or 3 in the ND when it became clear we weren't going to land a Dangerfield/Kennedy/Shiel etc.
  10. We got overs for Frawley with pick 3. They obviously see Frost as a player who'll plug this hole. Overs, yes - but clearly part of the overall list management strategy.
  11. No one with any sense of professionalism would say that. He could simply have repeated the line that everyone was on the table for the right trade. He didn't. He say NO. Watts has value to this team going forward. And I'm convinced Roos realises that. Sorry fellas - many of you are completely wrong on this one.
  12. If that's the case, it seems as though we should select Brayshaw with pick 2, and trade pick 3 to GWS for pick 6 and a handy midfielder, and then use pick 6 on Lever.
  13. I hate this if the rumour is true. Loyalty is a material consideration IMO, as is class, and he has both.
  14. Anyone still think the succession plan is a bad idea? I suspect Goodwin doesn't ...
  15. Petracca and Brayshaw. Would be very happy with that.
  16. And Adelaide and the Suns. Possibly also Carlton.
  17. If Petracca is destined to go with pick 1 (Saints or GWS), then pick 2 to the Dogs in exchange for Hrovat and pick 6 sounds pretty good to me. Brayshaw (pick 3), Lever (pick 6) and Hrovat seems like a very good return in the circumstances.
  18. I'd actually be very happy for us to use picks 2 and 3 on Petracca and Brayshaw. Also land Gartlett, Lumumba and Frost. And potentially bring in an experienced hard bodied out of contract midfielder from another club through the PSD. Or one who's just been delisted, just for a year or so - ie, to give some additional cover whilst the younger mids develop.
  19. Can't see us landing Dangerfield. Nice rumour for a while, but it seems to be nothing more than that.
