  1. Love the jumper but the clash jumper is the best one the club has had IMHO.
  2. Looks great http://preview.globalvision.com.au/mfc_guernsey/
  3. I has hoping for the emblem to be at the point of the V, similar to the 150 jumper. Otherwise on the Christmas list.
  4. Looks interesting, put me know...3 going at once, DT, SC and ultimate!
  5. The club has told Hansen's management we are not interested: "Melbourne, who had been on the lookout for an experienced power forward, is believed to have told Hansen's management it isn't interested" http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/mitch-hahn-accepts-western-bulldogs-offer/story-e6frf9jf-1225963498585 End of thread
  6. They weren't thugs, just didn't flinch at a contest and took the hit. The different was their body was ideal for it therefore the oppo often came off second best. .
  7. SS was a good player, its only commented on as it happened on the biggest stage when we got smashed, as most the game was boring, the incident stood out. I remember reading an article about it, how one incident can cloud a persons reputation, despite opposing evidence over a career. Hope his son and all future sons are better than their dads Love the father-son rule as part of the game, - is it unique in professional sport?? Even West Coast got their first F/S pick this year. Its something they should now leave alone forever as its changed a lot in the last 10 years.
  8. The FD is certainly on the ball. Also talking to future fathers sons I hope they also sit down and help with their development even in its the odd clinic of mentoring type of scheme. For example, it would be great to see young Viney for example down the club having a run with the boys from time to time. - not sure if its allowed under the rules? So they hit the crowd running.
  9. You don't compare Jimmy on his pure physical ability which is what sheedy was doing, which is most likely true on pure athleticism but Jimmy was a ruckman. The real successful for Jimmy came as we all know from inside and that drive and determination is a rare thing even at afl level. As he is more there for the money and ego than a love of the game.
  10. Old TJ has had a chave ad looks bloody young again!
  11. Not an attractive jumper, but no clash with us so I don't really care. Actually I would say its bland. As for the name, I also think of the US when i hear giants. More so as they talk about 'giants' of the game whereas we talk about legends/stars etc. So its more ingrained in their culture. I would have gone with something more associated with Sydney but I can't think of one at the moment. Though I do like the 'bulls' but thats the emblem of my local team. We try to inspire the new players with the vision of the bulls smashing through the opposition. Anyway besides a couple of NAB cups it'll be awhile till we really see them, they might have finetuned a few things by then.
  12. Wow in an amazing decision the AFL is looking to bring back the curtain riser game, but cited the english premier league as where they took it. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/afl-curtain-call-for-champions-league/story-e6frf9jf-1225954108304 What a joke, considering the number of games that used to be played before the old VFL matches, it was great to get there early and watch potential new stars and the young boys battling away. I know this is a little different, but the ideal isn't new even for aussie rules.
  13. R.I.P. but I'm sure he was very happy seeing his son play on the MCG.
  14. Nice write up on darling in the weekend west. Could be a looker but the FD will choose the best it can at 12.
  15. DD is all done. But investing in growth/income generating assets is now important. Just like we all do for our retirement. Once we can establish a good economic base independent of membership and sponsors the better, that way the club can continue ot grow through good and bad times. So getting people involved with the club at management level with the expertise for that is where we should be going and I'm sure CS is doing just that.
  16. as a few others said, the gold coast would win next year with the youngest list i think?
  17. I voted bad but it was 50/50. Simply on field experience during games. But it gives a new player the opportunity to shine just like bruce did in 2000. Wish all the best but it will be funny seeing him play for someone else, more so that other players that have left. As for trade potential he would have been informed if anyone came knocking during trade week, so i assume no one did and we lost nothing either way.
  18. ames back to back is better. It has been raised the 50 minute gap would lead to soft tissue injuries...hence the AFl is letting clubs pretty much put in two sides.
  19. gee so many.. Dyson, I dont remember him being the best but was certainly one of the biggest kicks going around. Robbie Flower, skinny kid with glasses... Sean Wight/Jimmy - loved them both Anthony Ingerson - was a shocker when he first came over, finished his career in dominating form. Brian Wilson...Got asked by my teacher when he won the brownlow whether I was going to take the 2 off my jumper...I laughed in his face Brett Lovett Gary Lyon - champion for 1 reason, he could win the game off his own bag...and did so a few times for us in the 90's. Woey - way above expectations Even Norm Smith - who would have expected when he joined us so long ago, nothing special from what I remember when they took him on. Jamar - deserves it. to name only a few...I'm sure I'll think of more later.
  20. those are pretty damning stats...the west coast/freo game skew it as they often play each other first up. Maybe next year!! Would have preferred to go up to NSW if we had to travel.
  21. So are we on free to air on the Friday night? It would make sense really..otherwise what a crap place to play.
  22. Martin Pyke was good for us and we let him go as he wouldn't toe the social line outside the club. Played in a different in the premiership sides and would have been good for us if we kept him, a good mean player without being dirty. Most of the players are wrongly listed here as they were curtailed by injury not whats between their heads and some was stupid recruiting..I remember Templeton, but we got good value out of Moore. But that was the Barrasi way, recruit established talent. Earl Spalding, - was good till you needed him to kick that important goal. The only player I had high hopes for that failed, was Craig Nettlebeck, former NO.1 draft pick for SYdney, and a Dee's supporter as a kid. But then he did play in a crap period for Melbourne. So many more to comment on but a special mention to ex-don players were took for some reason.
