Including some pretty damning stuff from the victim and his family on the front page of the HUN. I didn't think that witnesses to a case were supposed to publicly talk about their evidence before a trial or is that just what they say in films?

Narrowing in on either Grimes or Trengove for Captain
The Great Pretender replied to mdemonski2's topic in Melbourne Demons
Similarly with his off field performances in the media. Just not strong or convincing and this tended to permeate through everything involving the side. -
Life imitating art or is it art imitating life?

Much ado about nothing in here.

While that's true, I think the Indians have been rather undisciplined at times with their bowling and fielding as well as suffering leadership problems with the management of the bowling attack and field placings. I think that the whole furore might allow them time to regroup and refocus and if they gain the early initiative in this match, then watch out.

I think all this thread proves is that one person's inconsistency is another person's flexibility.

Boys behaving badly again (not ours this time)
The Great Pretender replied to The Great Pretender's topic in Melbourne Demons
The topic tag makes this clear. -
Sorry but I'm finding it hard to warm to this concept.

A very good read. It's amazing how a season never pans out the way you expect it to.

Like all teams GWS will get their injuries but the problem is their lack of depth which will mean they face some real hidings if they have a bad run.

If its not mr cricket then he must be getting close. I can't see them putting Watson back in for the second test if he wasn't fit for the first but Hussey's position must be close to precarious.

I agree but the young bowlers seem to be doing fine. When Cummins is fit, one of Hilfdnhaus or Siddle will go.

TROY BROADBRIDGE - SEVEN YEARS ON
The Great Pretender replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I remember being at the Boxing Day test that year. We were playing Pakistan and they batted first. There was a big partnership, we took some wickets late but they scored more than 300 and had some wickets in hand at stumps. The news about the earthquake and the tsunami was sort of filtering through the ground late in the day but it seemed like it was just another event and really had nothing to do with us. The enormity of the disaster only came home to me later on when I watched the vision coming in from Thailand and then, a day or two later we discovered that we'd lost Troy. It reminded me that life's a bigger game than any sport. -
Colin Sylvia's Tweet Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the boys train with a "good attitude" before the West Coast game?

Patrick Dangerfield named in the Middle this week
The Great Pretender replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's outrageous that the Adelaide doctor gave the evidence he gave at the tribunal on Tuesday night and this bloke is selected to play two days later. The AFL should intervene now, suspend the charge against Trengove without the need for an appeal and ask for a please explain from the Crows and their doctor. This stinks to high heaven. -
Game Day Thread (*in real time*)
The Great Pretender replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Moloney 18 disposals 10 minutes into the second quarter. You might say he's pizzing it in. -
This is going to be interesting. On what I saw Brown's gone for 2 or 3 weeks at least but does the AFL want the new franchise to lose a key player at a point in time when it's fast losing credibility in the eyes of the fans? Surely, there are technicalities for the MRP to consider ...

Port Melbourne v Casey Scorpions
The Great Pretender replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Blease and Strauss are being educated to play the game in the current styles and both have had their setbacks in the past in terms of injuries. They're not ready yet and won't find it easy to break into the Melbourne team for a while yet. I find the criticism of Blease yesterday a tad harsh. The whole team was under pressure early and Port could not put a foot wrong. I can't see Newton replacing Martin unless the latter drops considerably in form. However, if the selectors were even contemplating such a move, why play him exclusively as a key forward? He has kicked 11 goals in consecutive weeks and is the elevated rookie. If we fail today in a key forward position then why not reward him with an opportunity? -
It's an old April Fools Day joke that the club likes to play on unsuspecting supporters. The Melbourne boys train at Casey and the Casey boys train in Melbourne. Get it?

They must know more than our football department knows about Scully's injury because the official club line on Tuesday was three weeks (Injury Update). You would think that the club knows and that the club is being transparent with members and supporters.

Hawks kick fourth unanswered goal to lead 60 to 49. Looks all over the way were playing.
