  1. Spot on. Stevo just another internet expert. Cheney and Buckley also fringe players at best. This club aint that stupid. A change of clubs helps marginally - mostly for the reinvigoration/reborn factor for first 12 months then its back to routine
  2. All Mick Malthouse does is exaggerate how grossly overpaid these football experts and how duplicitous/pathetic their behaviour is - definitely not what society should be looking upto as acceptable or commendable. To say " we have a very, very serious obligation to the game"... in the cirucmstances where if you claim for a goal, but don't get it, what do you lose for not claiming it??.... nothing Thomas claimed it wasn't an intentional hit, not once but twice with full knowledge largely because what would he lose if he didn't lie twice??? nothing. Some footy twits and their ethics are only for entertainment value. Remember its only a game and of little meaning beyond the odd rush of blood every weekend.
  3. You are right! Tpyical luke-warm ill-diciplined garbage this club keeps serving up in spades. If they stick on their man, you'd hope they'd figure out where to run eventually, implement and anticipate.
  4. Listening to MMM, Garry Lyon reckoned he saw the semblance of a forward press in the start of the last quarter. (I think it was). When they asked Frawley about it after the game he said that they have been working on a forward press since preseason and that was the gameplan - the players just have been very inept at implementing it in the first 10 rounds. Garry keeps on also trying to get Bails to play Frawley on the forward line as we don't have any forward with enough physical presence just to bring the ball to the ground let alone make themselves a viable target. This is worth looking at. But the whole teams needs to learn to scratch and scrag their way into the contest when things are not going there way.
  5. No better feeling than winning 3 on the trot is watching Essendung fall back in a heap to where they belong. They lose one game by 65 pts and its a national outrage - welcome to supporting mediocrity. Our backline is no doubt grateful to the input from one Sean Wellman who Essendung is eyeing keenly!! "I have heard ALL of Mark Williams (Chocko), James Hird, Matthew Lloyd, Scott Burns and Sean Wellman have been contacted to discuss a potential coaching panel in 2011. Despite each of the names above all having various contracts, they all have get out clauses and are potentially available for the 2011 season. So prepared is Essendon, my source tells that each of the names above have been told in no uncertain terms "don't make plans for 2011 until we've had a chance to talk further" after flagging the possibility with them. " -- http://www.bomberblitz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=55889 Lets make sure Essendung dont steal our Sean leave them to implode all on their own.
  6. Welcome to the Dees!! By Awesome Scotty BomberBlitz: Who do you barrack for, and where do you want to go? Luke Tapscott: The Crows, I wouldnt mind which list I was on. BB: Who was your footy idol growing up and why? LT: Mark Bickley from the Crows. He played for my favourite team and he was a country kid. BB: What is your preferred position on-field and why? LT: Midfield, get to be involved in the game the whole time. BB: Did you have injuries this season? LT: No, only a slight hammy strain after the season BB: Are you nervous about making the transition from to the AFL? LT: More so excited, about the possibility of a lifelong dream getting closer. BB: Just how much growth do you have in you to make? LT: There are many areas of my game that could be improved and also off-field improvement. BB: Which footballer do you think you think you are most like on field? LT: I think I play alot like Paul Chapman. BB: Who do others say you play like? LT: I have been said to have attributes like Chappy and also Daniel Rich. BB: What would you say are you’re greatest strengths? LT: My kick and skills, contested ball winning and tackling. BB: What areas do you reckon you could improve on? LT: My offensive running and running capacity. BB: What would your top 3 goals be once you’re drafted to an AFL club? LT: To start with playing my first game, then becoming a dominant part of the team and a premiership. BB: What do you think of the prospect of possibly moving away from home? LT: Well, it’s a fair chance as there are only 2 clubs here but it would be good. I have moved from home to boarding school before. BB: Who has been the hardest player to play on in the under 18s? LT: Ben Cunnington. BB: Besides yourself, who do reckon might go in the top 5? LT: Tom Scully, Jack Trengove, Anthony Moribito, Ben Cunnington and Dustin Martin. BB: Who is favourite AFL coach and why? LT: “Bomber” Thompson, looks to have great respect from his players and knows how to win. BB: How much of a step up were the championships, and what was it like playing with and against the best kids? LT: Having played league football in the SANFL, the under 18s wasn’t a massive to big of step up. I felt comfortable playing in it. BB: Do you read any of the media or on-line draft predictions? LT: No, I haven’t really foccused to much on the media. Been worrying about school exams mostly but I read the paper and have look every now and then. BB: Do you have a rough idea of where you might be placed in terms of draft position? LT: No great idea, I’ve spoken to most clubs so it’s hard to predict. Any number will suit me, as long as I get drafted. BB: What have been your best and worst experiences out of AFL Draft camp this year? How did you find it? LT: The worst was not being able to do the testing because of my hammy. The best was getting to meet so many people striving for the same thing and also the AFL coaches. BB: When did you start playing footy? LT: Pretty much as soon as I could run, I played my first minis game when I was 4 or 5. BB: Who has had the greatest influence on your footy career so far? LT: My parents, without them allowing so much time for me I wouldnt be where I am now. BB: How old were you when you first thought you had a real chance of being an AFL player? LT: I’ve been wanting to play AFL from as soon as I watched it but it become reality when I moved to Adelaide and got to play in the state 16’s. BB: Would you prefer to join a team that is currently in the hunt and there is limited first 22 opportunity, or one that is rebuilding, where there will be more immediate opportunities? LT: Either or would be good, a club where their is competition for spots would be good for immediate improvement. BB: What was your junior club like? LT: Country footy in Orroroo. I never played A-grade back there but junior standard was good. BB: How influential was your first coach? LT: My first coach was my uncle, was one of the best coaches I’ve had. BB: What advice would you give to a kid on how to get to your level? LT: Never take the easy option out of something. Everytime you do, someone else is taking the hard way and getting better than you. Also, always strive for improvement. Take as much advise from the knowledgeable people around you. BB: Do you play any sports other than footy? LT: I used to compete at state level for swimming. I also played tennis. BB: If AFL wasn’t around, what would you do instead? LT: I had to choose between AFL and tennis so I probably would be playing that still. It would be sport related. BB: Now for the important questions. Are you a cinnamon, iced or jam centred type donut man? LT: Cinnamon, if any. BB: If you could hold a Guinness World Record, what would it be for? LT: 100m sprint. BB: What music do you listen to? LT: Everything except heavy metal. BB: If someone made a film of your life, who would you like to play the lead role? LT: Adam Sandler. BB: One place you would like to visit? LT: America. BB: What is your favourite colour M&M? LT: Red. BB: Do you think milk should be added to instant coffee prior to boiling water or after? LT: After. BB: Shorts or pants man? LT: Shorts if possible. BB: Shoes or thongs? LT: Thongs. BB: Thanks for the interview.
  7. Pity he loves the filth!! BomberBlitz.com Exclusive Interview - Jordan Gysberts By Awesome Scotty BomberBlitz: Who was your footy idol growing up and why? Jordan Gysberts: I always was a big James Hird fan growing and tried to model my game on him because I loved the way he played. BB: Who do you barrack for, and where do you want to go? JG: Barrack for collingwood because of my dad BB: What is your preferred position on-field and why? JG: Midfield is my preferred position because I play my best football there and love to be in the action. BB: Why you would like to come to Essendon that distances it from its rivals. JG: 1. It’s a club rich in history and spirit and would love to be apart of it. 2. It’s a team on the rise and should be competitive in coming years and would like to help them. 3. Plus, it would be amazing to run out on ANZAC Day. BB: Did you injuries this season set you back a lot in your preparation? JG: Yeah, I had a groin injury through the championships and most of the season which hindered my performance, was really frustrating and didn’t get a chance to play my best footy because of the limitations of my injury. BB: Are you nervous about making the transition from to the AFL? JG: Not really, I’ve wanted this opportunity all my life, it’s probably more the fact its coming into reality soon so just more excited than nervous and looking forward to see what happens. BB: Just how much growth do you have in you to make? JG: I think I’ve got a lot of potential and improving in me still, I don’t think I’ll ever stop learning about the game and just want the best out of myself. BB: Which footballer do you think you think you are most like on field? JG: I think Scott Pendlebury, because we both are tall inside and outside midfielders who are good in traffic and use the ball well. BB: Who do others say you play like? JG: Jack Grimes from the Melbourne Football Club. BB: What would you say are you’re greatest strengths? JG: Clean below my knee’s, handballing, reading the play, kicking and versatility. BB: What areas do you reckon you could improve on? JG: My run and carry and fitness. BB: What would your top 3 goals be once you’re drafted to an AFL club? JG: 1. My first goal would to ask as many questions as I could. 2. Second goal would be to play round one NAB cup. 3. Third goal would be to improve my body testings throughout the year. BB: What was it like getting an AIS scholarship for AFL? JG: Yeah, it was a really big thrill, I missed out in my under 16 year but to get it when i was a top ager was fantastic, I’ll never forget the experience and it’s something I’ll never forget. BB: What do you think of the prospect of possibly moving away from home? JG:I’m not really fussed if I have to move away from home, I just want to follow my dream of playing AFL. BB: Who has been the hardest player to play on in the under 18s? JG: Anthony Morabito, just his strength and speed is incredible. BB: Besides yourself, who do reckon might go in the top 5? JG: I think Tom Scully will definitely go number one, Jack Trengove, Dustin Martin, Anthony Morabito and Ben Cunnington is my tip. BB: How much of a step up were the championships, and what was it like playing with and against the best kids? JG: It was a massive step up and was a good challenge to play on these kids who are just as good if not better than you. BB: Do you read any of the media or on-line draft predictions? JG: No, it’s just their opinion and I don’t want to be distracted from what I’m doing as well as its not relevant. If it happens, it happens. BB: Do you have a rough idea of where you might be placed in terms of draft position? JG: Not to sure really, just would be happy to get the opportunity. BB: What have been your best and worst experiences out of AFL Draft camp this year? How did you find it? JG: Best experience would be talking to the clubs and meeting the other draftee’s and coming 2nd in the kicking drill. The worst experience would be that my groins played up again so I wasn’t allowed to participate in the rest of the testing. BB: When did you start playing footy? JG: I started when i was 4 years old down at Auskick. BB: You’re in year 12 this year, how has it been fitting both footy and school work? JG:It’s been pretty tough especially when the championships where on, but have handled it pretty well because of my school helping me out with private study periods. BB: What subjects are you doing? JB: International studies, further mathematics, english, multimedia and business management. I studied PE studies last year in year 11 BB: Who has had the greatest influence on your footy career so far? JG: Alan Mcconnell because he made everything simple. BB: How old were you when you first thought you had a real chance of being an AFL player? JG: Probably under 15’s when I made the victorian school boys team which was pretty exciting. BB: Would you prefer to join a team that is currently in the hunt and there is limited first 22 opportunity, or one that is rebuilding where there will be more immediate opportunities? JG: Limited 22 because you would learn so much more and when you earnt your spot it would be deserving and not just to fill in the gap. BB: What was your junior club like? JG: My junior clubs Montrose, Chirnside Park and Norwood were really good and have helped me a lot along the way. BB: What advice would you give to a kid on how to get to your level? JG: Just to work on your weakenesses. BB: Do you play any sports other than footy? JG: I played basketball for about 10 years. BB: Now for the important questions. Are you a cinnamon, iced or jam centred type donut man? JG: Iced because I’m so sweet. laughs BB: If you could hold a Guinness World Record, what would it be for? BB: Three words to describe yourself? JG: Quiet, ambitious, easy-going. BB: What is your favourite colour M&M? JG: Blue. BB: Do you think milk should be added to instant coffee prior to boiling water or after? JG: No, definitly not (prior), the milk balances out the milk in the coffee when its on top. BB: Shorts or pants man? JG: Love to wear shorts cause I like summer and the warm weather. BB: Shoes or thongs? JG: Like to wear both. BB: Thanks for the inteview, Jordan.
  8. Miller Time.....geez get a life.....
  9. Walking around in the rooms - according to SEN
  10. In hindsight not such bad loss given the opposition. Power probably are a top 4 chance this year. Touched up the hawks today by 5 goals without the burgoynes and their captain at the G. Could have been more at home.
  11. Great Interview with Robbo on the Hun homepage http://player.video.news.com.au/heraldsun/...QopCr4Gqk6kp4TA Gives some perspective from the players side. Good on him and good luck for the rest of the year and beyond!! Go DEES
  12. Will prolly rest on his laurels next week. Where did he come in the lions B&F last year?
  13. Yeah lots of nasty goss floating around about Col http://www.bomberblitz.com/forum/index.php...47414&st=15 MOst likely BS but would prefer him to play like cousins on the field.
  14. As to the China experiment.... nothing to back up the negative thoughts as yet? If anyone has any info please pass it along as I think we'd all be keen to see how it has worked or not for us instead of making broad statements without fact on it not working. I also still think we should be targeting immigrant communities with "welcome packs" with details on the city of Melb, the history of the city and where it is going intertwined with how we fit into the city of Melb... I also think our lack of $$$ really hampers our promoting/marketing of the club, from a small marketing dept to a smaller budget than the big clubs. If we go with a China experiment and it doesn't work that is money we can not spend in other areas that other clubs will focus on.
  15. Maccas first masterstroke. Is it true?!? Whispers are the Dees might relocate for a short period 5 or 10 yrs, to grow the brand and the sport in hostile rugby territory with significant AFL support. This will make the Demons the first national franchise and rope any newcomers into the club. Brilliant idea, apart from the downside of leaving melbourne. An independent study which investigated the Australian population growth dynamics including new migrants, moving australian residents and likely new followers of AFL etc., identified the Gold Coast closely followed by South West Sydney as the best places to grow the brand. Depending on the success of the plan, splitting home games therafter may be considered, although player fatigue was queried as a drawback. Talks are underway with AFL hierarchy. Be damned if any other new club will steal potential supporters from the FIRST CLUB of this great game. This is our prirority pick which we earned and wont snuffle this time!
  16. AS far as US franchises go, keeping your colors and logo are FAR more important than the City in which you are based, eg. Rams, Dodgers, Raiders etc. We seem to have our basic strategy on branding, identity, what the market can support etc., the wrong way around. We could up stumps for a couple of years and go to another city eg south west sydney for 5 years, grow the game and the club brand and then come back to melbourne. THAT IS WHAT WE SHOULD BE DOING - u heard it first here. Steal my idea - feel free. 5 years in 150 is nothing and wont affect premiership chances at all. Being based in melbourne is less important with constant media coverage. It accepts our errors of the past 40 years and does something about. We were the first club in melbourne - lets become the first truly national franchise. Id like to see the D's in melbourne but maybe we should be the Bankstown DEES to recharge our batteries for a while. Dstar
  17. Screw the Morons who think that the Manchester United model is the way to go. (Who employed these idiots?) We should follow the U.S. franchise system eg NFL basball etc. We still live in an immigrant nation and links to past and prestige are still pretty tenous- at best. Melbourne redlegs to melbourne demons, to melbourne dragons ?!? WTF?!?!? We MUST KEEP Our IDENTITY that is central to any brand. Dont change your name too many times. As far as a franchise GOES - No matter what, these are the most import points. 1. We are the FIRST CLUB. This should be written on all our bloody logos FFS.!!! This fact is always underplayed. It should be on our jumper - just to let everyone know. 2. We are red and blue. 3. We are the DEMONS. 4. If we want to be melbourne DEMONS we have to own melbourne and be the heart sole of the place, in a national game. I guess we have to own inner city melbourne at least, maybe the burbs as well. The spirit of the CBD?!? the corporate team, exchange personal development programs with team bonding sessions in companys, share winning pyschologies etc. Try something. 5. We need an IDENTITY fast and STOP PLAYING WITH IT !!! That looks soft as. No dragons bs... ffs. Become LOUD and PROUD!!!!! I dont think chasing immigrants is the best way to build the footy club, but it could help in the outer suburbs.
  18. WHat you have all been waiting for guys. here she is!!! http://users.pipeline.com.au/~obw/scumpics...rt-Adelaide.jpg
  19. TO all those D haters. Go and get farked. MCC owes it bigtime to MFC and should cough the fark up!!! Those pleb carlton, collingwood, essendon and rich MCC supporters should subsidise the mighty MFC because we came first. GO and eat sh2t you bogans
  20. FFS the answer os obvious : John Howat, Paul Hopgood, Darren Kowal, Simon Eishold and Brent Grgic
  21. Good to see Bails has brought the 'Port Adelaide Model' to the MFC. 0-4 for both means he must have learnt something from Williams. You can't reproduce that sort of consistency without being a copycat. Go the DEES
