  1. this year keeps keeping on... what"£%)*^$£")*"%£$)^*
  2. Really shattered for the club after all the good and hard work. So close and win in so many areas but not the forward 50. Only positive is that our injured eg melks and angus wont be put through torture if we were premiers... We were robbed tonight after leading most of the game. enjoy your summer!!!
  3. Is Grundy sub? might balance Carlton's talls...
  4. If we can't shut this thread down can we at least change the title to past tense? No one agrees with what happened, and there are other things to focus on. La vendetta è un piatto che va servito freddo.
  5. Shocked by the decision, I expected him to get 3 weeks then Pies to appeal and him to get off. AFL should appeal if they are serious, but probably wont because they aren't. What is complete baloney is the following : "As for a bump, the panel found that Maynard did not attempt to bump Brayshaw. “In order for it to be concluded that he engaged in the act of bumping,” Gleeson said. “It would be necessary to find that he formed that intention when in midair at approximately at the apex of his leap." He formed the intention to bump immediately when he ran at him and before the jump.... But they persist on interpreting his actions as that of an angel...maybe we should que up for the holy blessing?? GAGF Gleeson Sniping lives on and Lloyd and Cornes are its protectors. Great for football, not.
  6. you don't need to...it has been well documented his early game "intensity" is a barometer for collingwood's performances in the media, by the same people who are now protecting him... we should have had someone on him tbh but that is another thing....he runs straight lines at players and the ball is a secondary consideration ..."blind freddy" incl. Mcguire knows this... there is just a media windup of past players protecting their own legacies, pathetic un-principled hypocritical hangers-on like barrett, and collingwood media influencers stirring the pot which is annoying
  7. Kane Cornes ( an admitted shock jock and fan of the negative football - which aligns with his unimaginative and limited, yet allegedly disciplined skill set) ranted against Manynard's suspension and his main points were ... -we are asking too much of our players, we want intense finals footy, so we should shutup when accidents happen - there was nothing else he could have done. what do you want him to do? he cant disappear into mid air... - (And my favorite) If anyone questions this > how much footy have you played yourself? you don't know what your talking about and should shutup... - He refers to the Tom Lynch bump earlier in the year as precedence. but this was much different, tom was in a pack, they were all contesting the ball, and the hit was not as bad... even for this hit, interesting that Bucks (one of the few prominent outliers here) thought it should go to the tribunal as he did for the maynard case... https://www.sen.com.au/news/2023/04/11/why-buckley-disagrees-with-afl-tribunals-lynch-call/ Can't really see how kane has got maynard off : - forgets the ongoing head injuries law suits and general trend to protect the heads - ignores the fact that it was a dog act by maynard, not a footy act, which is the popular euphemism these days for a dog act... - and yes forgets how maynard lined gus up as much as an A380 coming into to land at tullamarine - general condescending remarks about those holding the opposing view perfectly exemplifies just how out of touch he is to the issue and how he needs to "play the man" and not the substance, to win an argument (just like he did in his playing days, to moderate success). 3+ weeks thanks!
  8. you have a duty of care to yourself when you listen to them and to anyone else when you repeat what they say...
  9. haha love the not so subtle PC drive-by on your way out... Head injuries awareness is new but it is real and here to stay... this is to all players' benefit
  10. Maynard is known for running straight lines and is also well known for a chronic shoulder condition. He dropped his shoulder to protect himself and would repeat that reaction again under the same circumstances... that is why it in total, the incident was a pre-meditated action, -- the line up on gus, not deviating from his line, and forget the player and his head and hit him after by dropping shoulder... all worthy of 3+ week sanction...
  11. Nah times have changed mate, 10 years is a long time in afl , and roughness requires more discretion now. It wasnt fractions of a seconds btw... it was a tee off....
  12. thats purely a show for the MRO to prove there was no malice.... malice or not, footy act or not - as Goody said, the facts speak for themselves and it was intended or recklessly careless as a minimum dont be swayed by the crocodile tears
  13. Id like to see Harmes play a negating / tagging role on one of carltons mids... should have worn maynard on thursday
  14. Yes. Is the general failure of the MRO process more due to the "boys club" mentality or more due to the lack of the right process/skills/competence (which i loosely label as moronism). ? Probably a bit of both but I presume more the latter...
  15. Should this still be here in 2023 ? (i know it will never disappear but ...) I would have thought moron(competence) optics is a more important issue
  16. move christian on ffs, if he has to be told that anyway, the dinosaur has been fumbling his way through it for way too long
  17. The hypocrites like Barrett talking about all the head injury lawsuits coming to the afl and how the AFL should take them seriously, now turn around and say it is a "footy act" and shrug their shoulders and walk away..... absolutely pathetic clickbait hypocrites ... particularly comments by past players party to those law suits....with the same old school mentality There was probably 50 more ways maynard could have done the smother, which involved a basic awareness of his actions and the players head.... actually under the circumstances his action were very predmediated to make or threaten contact, he had no chance of actually reaching the ball so that is why he lined Angus up.... then at the last second he got negligently selfish by rolling his shoulder, and afterwards self-righteously arrogant by declaring it a footy act. No way. you are out 3 weeks! Get serious AFL.
  18. we just gotta take out Maynard in the first minute so he doesn't get one of his glory run tackles and gets their steam up..
  19. Even after 40+ years in the comp, Sydney still get the "Expansion league benefits" at the Tribunal at Finals time ala big bad barry hall... just an out and out joke.... he clearly lined the player up and bumped, then turned....but then Sydney is playing finals which is good for the game ...so he plays...
  20. Constant mis-references of North Melbourne as Hawthorn.... Even by Todd in the recent presser and by Clarko often in his team preps... maybe a bit more to it and indication of where their headspace are at? borderline parody comedy if it wasn't so personally serious
  21. Hibberd was good but I felt for him after the two don't argues in a row from Dusty on his way to snapping truly......how do you train to break the dont argue at this stage in his career?
  22. wow! Meanwhile, former managing director and AFL footballer Joel Macdonald was fined $1 million and banned for 12 years. https://www.news.com.au/finance/business/technology/collapsed-tech-startup-getswift-slugged-with-largest-ever-penalty-of-15m-for-misleading-statements/news-story/875a29be97b3002e8071ec173d707d96
  23. Haha Essington Cult continues with Andrew Thornbury appointment... upright standing leader into dodgy banking practices... https://theconversation.com/nabs-andrew-thorburn-and-ken-henry-quit-after-royal-commission-lashing-111363 no doubt he will have new ideas on "winning at all cost"
