  1. I remember Roger James from the power with a similar problem. Used to have polymer substitute cartilage injected into his knee before each game. Don't know how long that would last and if they have made improvements since then.
  2. It says the MRP have no balance, perspective or meaningful insight into how to act as a credible authority that can assert a lasting impression on how players conduct themselves within the spirit and 'rules'. After the fasolo hit, loved the way tappy flipped the remonstrating pie like a feather. If hadn't have held on to dear life to tappy's jumper said pie would have made an hillarious backflip. MRP = Complete farce. I just hope they don't get paid for that crap.
  3. this thread is ridiculous. Who seriously advocated softness and not making a contest? 100% behind you tappy. The hit on fasolo was nothing. He committed to the contested and realised he was late and pulled out so his spoil didn't contact him in the face so he grzed him on the back with the inside of his forearm. If he gets charged for this I will be amazed. it was a late bump at worst which wasn't head high. The winding of fasolo was inadvertent and thats what you cop playing a contact sport.
  4. Must add Luke Darcy to the list. Not just did he flip flop during the game on who will win claiming he called it... now he is dishing it up to Neeld for not being emotive enough in the presser... Let it go!! I am sure he bagged him for being too emotive earlier this year also. Major tool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PHjoF-i-Ns&list=UUxAeHdLDAatFV_vt95MSO-g&index=4&feature=plcp
  5. Can't agree more. Great Win by the boys. If we only win once a year I'd take essendon every time!! Go Watts!
  6. Its about the lack of desire or fear to hurt (physically) the opposition legally when the opportunity arises. He needs to learn to love to hate and love to hurt the opposition. Need more tackles, bumps and bruises
  7. Either watts sensed him or didn't sense him and has no peripheral vision. What gets me here is that in this position where you are going for the mark and a player attacks you from the side you are in a naturally defensive/protected position where it is pretty hard to get hurt. Just jump and attack the footy, brace yourself for the contest and stick your knee or leg out at the opponent. Don't they teach the footy basics?? Go watch a Yze masterclass on this. While Yze was soft, he knew how to position in himself and outmaneuvre in the contest so he wouldn't get hurt.
  8. I find these comparisons to Hawks 2005, Richmond 2010 and Eagles 2010, a bit underwhelming, inaccurate and misleading. Not only are we performing a lot worse than they have (go check the stats yourself!) so far this year, 2 drubbings over 100 pts after only 8 rounds. Eagles 2010 lost quite a few by under 10 pts that year, Tiges once got belted by over 100 pts. If we escape with 4 wins this year that will be a fair miracle! I just hope that there is due dilligence up the top end, that they review the clubs business plan or success roadmap and there KPIs are thought through to sort out this mess. A decent backup plan would help too. Any more 100pt losses this year will be bad for Neeld. This seriously indicates not turning up at the ground doesn't matter how much you window dress it. This playing group needs to play like there is no tomorrow and have their 'line in the sand' game. How can you learn to win if you never win. Winning ugly is better than not winning at all. As Barass used to say... practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. Winning needs winning. ...der.... but first show up at the ground ffs
  9. that is not enough.... the AFL will need to appoint an independent review committee to select the draftee (something we will screw up otherwise) then they will need to appoint best AFL practice independent development coaches (not those who are learned in losing cultures eg Royal, Rawlings etc) and then they will need to coach them how to play in a team.... AFL socialism is all that is helping us survive at the moment
  10. or maybe GFC? Melbourne football crisis..
  11. ...but only 15 less disposals to sydney 197 to 182 maybe they should try keepings off... ffs DO SOMETHING
  12. Everyone talks about him being a hard*ss. Frankly he hasnt scared me yet. All reports from Collingwood was that we was a relaxed bloke, no-nonsense but not a psycho like malthouse or clarkson maybe sheeds when he blew his top. Would like to know how he ranks in the paint peeling category and who he has given a good bake. Im over touchy feely coaches. I know he misjudged our list and general football health etc - apparently like so many others, but Neeldy talking about being disappointed if the same thing happens 3 years later is more than just lowering expectations. Its planting seeds of complacency and affects club culture we are so desperately longing to forge. Every game is there to be won. Any games we can pinch in the 'development' phase the better. We need him to be ruthless no matter what because whether we like it or not he will form the soul of the MFC for the next 4-5 years, assuming he coaches min 3 years and their is the dragover effect (like Bailey's shadow we are sitting in now)
  13. bring him back as a playing coach. put someone out there with some mettle.
  14. I think its about time we start to play hard ball off the field and make the rules work for us not the other way around. Lets give Grubby a gold ol whack after the scully theft. He will play for Melbourne. We will get him at a great price. End of story. I have a few questions : 1. Can't Jack do a "Luke Ball" and state that he will only play for melbourne?? Put some doubt into the scumbags who think they are smart by playing poker. 2. What is the smallest contract he can get on if he goes to GWS? 1 year or 6 months? What constitutes breach of contract what are the restrictions?etc 3. Since he already has a contract with melbourne 2013-2015 - how valid is any subsequent contract made? Given no real intent by GWS to interview him etc. and get him onside the GWS contract could be deemed a facade. 4. Can't we have a media campaign to stop the biased heraldsun innuendo and quote club figures saying there will be a reprimand by GWS tactics? Lets start feeding them stories. 5. Find plenty of sources validating him not as a top 5. Easily done I would have thought. I reckon the lawyers would have a field day if we are fair dinkum.
  15. I think that we as club should harden up and take a stance like Eddy McGuire would here. We should be threatening GWS or GCS through the media for major retribution if they even consider to name him first up given that they have never spoken to him let alone offered him something realistic then. Simply they are playing games and are insincere. If so, watch out for raids by MFC when free agency opens and other hostile trading in the future. Make our policy be known. Lets get mad and fire up about this ffs!! He aint a #1 or #2 pick so why should we be paying above market price?? We should as a club, make our stand very clear, that we will not stand for this!! Lets not let the 2 weakest clubs dictate terms to us ffs. How weak are we?
  16. Massive coup for the Club. Well done!! Half the cars with holden badges (eg astra etc) are Opel anyway. Might indicate consolidation for GMH going forward. Would be nice to hang on to them for more than 12 months and not drop them off!!
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16igwUFOSmg Nice pass to Ablett Sr at 54 sec!!
  18. I agree this stinks. Wasn't it Paul Tatnell from the HS that 'broke it'.??? 25 yo chief of staff from sydney found out a way to fast track up the ladder... Another voice of the AFL...
  19. I think AFL has come out of this vbadly. If this turns into an internal MFC witch hunt the media and our enemies have won. I think we can trust Aaron's word on this. Taking on city hall is OK for well reourced clubs but mostly it is a loosing battle and a distraction for a first term coach. Sometimes it is best to pick your battles. The most likely scenario is that Aaron or someone (it doesn't matter) said something which was misconstrued, misunderstood and ultimately of little value and it was unchecked before reaching the AFL exec meeting. Improving the administrative efficiency, accuracy and honesty of the AFL is not ours to fight, that is left to the community at large and I think they are generally responding. Lets not get sucked in to this burn Aaron or burn Mifsud vitirol. Lets hold the journos and AFL auditors accountable.
  20. Don't forget the more than sizeable contribution of the age to this mess. That peice of work Caro is at it again --- http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/grand-old-stoush-demons-take-on-afl-20120404-1wd8f.html Not only has Neeld main it v.clear it is done and dusted, she keeps on going. She and Gleeson have both played cringeworthy, non-objective roles in this hole saga : 1. Pathetically protecting their source miffedud, misled, misfired mifsud under the guise of journalistic ethics. The 'only' possible answer is that Davey is a liar .... yeah right. Just becuase they calimed the 'Rendell' scalp story does no justice to this blind obedience. 2. Claiming our 'please explain' phone call to Mifsud is a showdown with the AFL??? The only reason Mifsud won't answer our calls is because Davey hung him out to dry and the poor sensitive soul has lost all confidence in human nature and so insulted by this that he is beyond discussing with Davey until he receives an apology. To quote AFL/Caro (same thing) "Any suggestion that he(Mifsud) failed to attend to attend a mediation session is mischievous and false". Good grief. Pick up the phone big boy. 3. Failing to focus on the real issue such as how can unverified claims of serious idigenous issues reach AFL executive meetings unsubstantiated, unverified or kept non-confidential? Also, the treatment of Neeld in his second real week of coaching by the media frenzy. 4. Expect more of this from Caro in the future - sucking up to Demetriou and Eddie keeps her in a strong position. Great journalistic integrity. She has lost a lot of respect as an incisive researcher. Now she is feeding and leading the piranha pack. She and her esteemed colleagues have sucked more than a few of us in. Please can we move on. 3 Basically she has figured out there is no point asking the reals
  21. It appears nepotism is alive and well. Thankfully, Tom had his selfless father as a paid mentor. By the way, and more importantly, Lucky Phil looks like Griffith from the Family Guy, does he not? FAMILY GUY PHIL FAMILY GUY GRIFFIN
  22. This is all pretty much due to the knee-jerk reaction of sacking Bailey mid-year w/o any plan. OK he had to go. You don't sack unless you have an alternative option well-planned like Essendon with Knights-Hird. Way to much of the tail wagging the dog. How can the players show leadership in the boardroom if they can't lead on the field? Who the fark really cares what scully thinks of our management. STFU and play footy! Both Dockers and Bombers better managed than us - we should look and learn. In all good clubs - players play footy, accountants do accounting and managers do managing. IF they underperform - get rid of em.
  23. It is becoming a widely held view that 'best 22' is an outdated concepte particuarly to get a premiership. Teams like Collingwood and Geelong lead the way in showing that a 'best 28' is more realistic list for a premiership year given the likelihood of injuries. Indeed, Collingwood is demonstrating this week against us -resting some of the best on the argument that they will need 28 at some stage to step up to high qualtiy football so it might as well be now to test the mettle of the others. When the team plays 'emotional' roller coster footy and the coach's head is on/off the chopping block on a weekly basis there is the temptation to dump players a bit faster. Sure the pressure is on to perform but slabs of 2-3 game rotations are often better for developing the best 28 than the odd game every 5-6 weeks. At he business end of the year, pick your best on a horses for courses basis. So Bate and Warnock (maybe Morton) need to get that feeling/opportunity of being in the 28 and tested over a good slab of games, asked to play specific roles etc before we can realistic assess them as being part of the 'best 28' going forward.
