  1. Actually, I can give you 7.5 million reasons why judd chose carltank. It had nothing to do with our facilities, he also turned down the lexus magpies in favour of the blues dump.
  2. Does that mean he is 1% always right about nothing.
  3. Agree, but he needs to muscle up and get his mate Juice to do the same.
  4. I left out Saddington so that makes the argument stronger. I agree Ackland was on more than I guessed at $150k. I was told by Carlton people it was more like $300k plus and that was confirmed today on SEN. Again my argument is further strengthened. Do it for Robbie agrees Judd is on $1m a year and says Visy are paying $400k of it ( jokingly ). Let's not be naieve on Judd's salary, he was offered well in excess of $1m per year by several clubs of which we were one. He changed clubs for money and good luck to him. My mail was that he is on $7.5m over 5 years, that is $1.5 a year. It would make sense for the contract to be front loaded as there was room for the Blues to do it in his first year, as their youngsters were on original low contracts and Fev had not got his $750k a year new one yet. I put him in at $1m and I am positive that is generous for the conservative. Again my argument would be strengthened. I just fail to see how they can do it legally. Anyway, stuff Carltank, that is the AFL and the other clubs' problem.

    PSD

Look at Jarka's reply and add to it the fact that we have failed to convince the last three guys we have had a serious go at to come to us. I will leave it to others to decide. Then again the answer could be in the future tense, if we manage to convince a good player to go into the PSD we could be considered a "good club" as that's what a "good club" would do..
  6. No, you heard it here first, Carroll will not be at Melbourne in 2009. They will not [censored] $270k down the drain. They will negotiate a much smaller payment or the matter will end in Court ( together with the resultant publicity ) with the Club arguing that he has breached his contract so significantly that it is unenforceable and at an end.
  7. Why is my " argument" totally flawed? I have merely put down reported and assumed salaries and the figures lead to the conclusion that half Carltank's list would be on an average of $50.000 each. The 7 Geelong AA players this year and 9 AA players last year you have referred to are basically the same guys not 16 different ones and even if they were I have named 22 Carlton players and you have possibly suggested about 10 Geelong players. Lets assume an average of $500.000 each for the 10, which is "huge", then the last 30 share $3million an average of $100.000 each which is clearly possible as many are young draftees. Look at my figures for Carltank and point out where you think I am wrong and we can redo them. Don't just say my argument is totally flawed.
  8. Doesn't need to go that far. For example, you employ a relative at an exorbitant salary, or you drop the old brown bag full of the folding stuff on the players couch while you are convincing him to play for you, or you buy an asset that you agree to transfer to the player some time in the future when he is no longer an employee of the club etc.
  9. Obviously they don't have a salary cap. They have now offered Ryan O'Keefe a 4 year contract at $500.000 a year if he goes into PSD ( according to ten news tonight). I was also advised that Ackland is on over $300.000 a year by a Carlton person who claimed to know and that some of my other guesses were conservative. You can be sure the AFL will not seriously investigate this club.

    PSD

How do I feel, I have been telling people for months that if we finish last we can use the first PSD pick to blackmail clubs to trade players with us. What I forgot what was that players would have to want to come to us first.

    PSD

A good club with first pick in the PSD would convince an uncontracted player that they want to get, not to re sign with his club. That's what a good club would do.
  12. How dare they offer him $1.1 million over 3 years. Oh, that's more than the Prime Minister gets. Then again he is not as important as a footballer.
  13. In tonights news from the Age "Barring a last-minute change of heart by either club before Friday's 2pm (AEDT) trading deadline, O'Keefe is now very unlikely to be at Hawthorn next year." As I started this thread with the possibility us getting Thorp and Dowler with Green as part of the deal, thought I would revisit it considering the above development. Maybe not Thorp, but maybe picks and/or players from the Hawks for Green. Green's manager has indicated a preference to move to another Melbourne club and who better than the premier. I will watch proceedings tomorrow with interest.
  14. Todays Australian suggested they have offered Taylor to us and want pick 19. I would struggle to give pick 49.
  15. Hate to use that awful phrase but it looks " a lock" that O'Keefe wil go to the Hawks. The only question now is will Green go to Sydney as part of the deal with us getting pick 16 from hawks and maybe Taylor to ease their cap pressure.
  16. I can see Carltank getting their way again and it sh-ts me.
  17. At least we are in the 1% that are amused.
