  1. The key word you have used is "wont". I was referring to players stating their preference. To tell a club you "wont' play for them if selected would have to be a form of draft tampering and would carry a sanction of some kind. What if that was said and then the player was selected by that club and agreed to play. There are different forms of this problem ranging from " I would not like to play with your club" to " if you select me I won't come" and ultimately " refusing to play for the club that selected you".
  2. Further informative comment. Thanks.
  3. Read my post again WJ, I said penalty only applies if he is "selected" and refuses to play with that club. There is no penalty if a player says to a club before selection that he would prefer not to play with them.
  4. I believe he has been offered a new contract. Not sure of the current status of discussions. McNamara and Bartram are OOC I believe.
  5. I could hack the Affirmative Action.
  6. I suppose it could be as simple as would you rather have a "Dylan Grimes" or McNamara or Bartram.
  7. Mitch Thorp is to train with us from monday. If he is chosen to be our PSD 1 pick then that could change our thinking at 11, 18 or 34. Personally I would go KPP for the three with a Ruck/forward as one of them.
  8. Someone else also raised this point WJ. There is no problem in saying " I don't want to play for you". The breach is "refusing to do so" if you have nominated for the draft and are selected.
  9. Whether or not it's Thorp or someone else I would be very, very disappointed if we did not use 34 and PSD 1. If possible I would even look at 50 and if no one was better than who we delisted I would redraft them.
  10. Could be three. 1 &2 S & T. 11 Best Key Forward or Talia. 18 Best Key Forward or Ruck Forward. 34 Ruck or someone like Dylan Grimes.
  11. It's becoming a bit comical. We have "spoken to Connors and others to help us get to speak to Ball" without success. I presume that means he doesn't want to talk to us. Surely that means he doesn't want to play for us. Isn't that the end of the story?
  12. He might prefer Coolangatta Airport if you are suggesting Gold Coast.
  13. Thanks for the personal abuse Billy it always amuses me when people resort to it instead of providing an intelligent answer. By the way, lets also not let the facts get in the way of your abuse and incorrect recounting of my post. If you read my post (#17) again you will note that I acknowledged that you received an email and "never" said that you "spoke" to anyone. My post was directed to your "good authority" who is the person who spoke to the person who emailed you and who is "up on the club" whatever that means.
  14. So you have it on "good authority" and that authority according to your next post is an email you got from someone who said someone else came in and said something will be announced. Well that is about as good an "authority" as there is.
  15. So do I, hence the thread. If I was him I would stay as well ( assuming they give him a reasonable offer).
  16. That doesn't answer why we get sent there every year for a near certain defeat and where our supporters can't get in either. Agree that more Pie fans would be locked out than Dee fans but there are still plenty of ours locked out and most don't even bother trying anymore. Why can't the 7 games they play there be all against interstate sides so no one is locked out at all. That ground is filled by Cats fans each game with most on permanent seats. They will fill it whoever they play. With the 2 new teams that will be 8 games that could be used. Also AFL or MFC tickets are useless at SS.
  17. Confirmation is getting closer. Where is that countdown clock when you need it?
  18. "Oh sweet pea, why won't you dance with me". Ah the bubblegum music of the 60's.
  19. I wonder how many on here are old enough to remember the "Bemm River" report on World of Sport each sunday. It was delivered by Jack "Captain Blood" Dyer and Lou Richards. Basically it was gossip about which clubs were talking to which players and which recruits might be out there. The clubs weren't restricted in list numbers nor when they could recruit up to about the end of June each year. It was good fun and got people talking. Today it is a couple of drafts and some talk like this thread for a few weeks and then it is all over. I know there is discussion about who we will draft during the year if we know our draft position but it ends on draft day, unlike the past where a player could be invited down for training later in the season. Oh well I suppose that is progress.
  20. Where do you find the guide for 7 two and Go etc?
  21. Back on track and assuming the thread title is proven correct, do we look for an unknown or a recycled player. Personally if I could get a positive medical diagnosis on Jesse Smith I would be interested in him. That not being the case I must say I am not excited by the other names on the delisted lists.
