  1. No need for me to have courage as I haven't advocated anything. Quote 1 relates to the fact that Demonlanders have suggested taking just about every delisted player in the AFL, so why is there not a thread about taking a bloke who plays in two grand finals? Quote 2 is my opinion on taking him. I was just bemused by the fact that we are referring to an AFL grand final footballer as a "discount sausage".
  2. Just said on ten news he will go to Freo in the PSD, if the Dees don't ruin the plan and take him first. Not sure if that is their take or ours.
  3. I would imagine that after the National Draft we will have several other players training with us and hoping for a rookie spot.
  4. And they often are. Obviously not all spots will go to delisted AFL players as some are too old or injured or their best is behind them. Lets examine our rookie list this year, Newton and Meesen both delisted players, Hughes a rookie who had been there for five years, Spencer and McKenzie who were both really senior list players and now are and Healy a true young rookie, now gone. I accept that the rookie list is for finding extra young talent but good older footballers also have their use. Now we even have a mature rookie category. I note Newton remains on the list and another senior player or two may join him if you read Demonland.
  5. Well summed up.
  6. Well if Eddy is discount sausage and cold mash and given that he would be better than most rookies, what are they, 3 week old pizza and stale hot beer. Can't wait for the next post.
  7. I am not advocating taking him, but given he played in the grand finals with a broken jaw and a broken hand and beat 20 other players for the position, he deserves consideration for our rookie list. He would have to be better than most players who will be rookied.
  8. I don't like champagne and hate caviar. I am partial to meat and potatoes.
  9. Forgot about him.
  10. Today during the media conference to farewell Presti, Pies Footy Manager Geoff Walsh tipped a bucket on Anthony. He said that Anthony was selected this year 7 times and dropped after 5 of his games. He then said that "any club looking to fix their problems by recruiting Anthony should be careful" or words to that effect. I have never before heard a club official speak that way about a departing player, I thought the comments were amazing. They must really dislike Anthony. The question is why?
  11. How come everybody is not screaming for us to get him?
  12. I was actually being sarcastic, but it was earlier this year, maybe even before the season started.
  13. Funny. I heard he has an older brother who could also be available.
  14. He played several games in defence this year.
  15. Maybe the supporters knew something. It was the lowest priced item at a sell off of memorabilia, at a club function at the junction, which was hosted by Neita. I think it went for $25.00 with only one bid.
  16. Their footy manager has said that.
  17. I will. He will not interest them as they have Buddy and Roughie.
  18. Gee talk about ruthless, bloke carried their forward line for 10 years and now dumped at 29. Current full forward is 34. Glad he was not at Melbourne, people would be calling for our blood. We retire them at 34 and offer 1 year contracts to 31 year olds.
  19. That's good news. I wear New Balance runners and now I can be supporting a sponsor.
  20. Keep respecting him, he will be getting more than we offered, no doubt.
  21. I think he will be kicking his manager as it smells of Ricky Nixon. Yes the article is a disgrace as, it has soured the relationship of club and player in the eyes of those who are uninformed. Sheahan and others have stated that Cameron is leaving for a promised 2 year deal elsewhere. I have no doubt that he will be signing a 2 year contract at his new club. I also have little doubt that he will be getting more per year than he was offered for 1 year with us. I also note in Sheahan's article that he was in the highest paid 15-20 players in the AFL over the last few years though he would never have been considered a top 50 AFL player. I am sure his last 4 year contract would have caused rumblings as we saw with Green and Davey recently, that caused problems for the club. Cameron you were a very good player for us over 11 years and you were handsomely rewarded for it. These types of articles are unedifying and not becoming of you. That is why I am sure your manager is the one to blame. You are a Life member of the club with many friends here and I don't think it is your intention to sh-t on them or the club. Good luck at your next club, come back to us after your AFL career is over and tell your manager to shut his mouth.
  22. That is an insult to Miller.
  23. He is a big unit now. Wonder if weight = confidence = ability. He would be hard to push aside in a marking contest. Looks like he has a bit of a pot to run off as well. This has to be his last year at the club if he doesn't improve.
  24. Actually thursday week. 7.00PM live on Fox 2 for those with Foxtel. SEN and AFL site for those who don't.
  25. Good post. I also agree that too many on here show no respect to our past or older players. Good luck Cam and look forward to seeing you back at Melbourne when your AFL career ends. PS. To the poster who said "RIP Cam" even though you probably didn't mean it, he is not dead.
