I am sorry for starting a new thread but this is a new topic. Could Demonlanders please only start a new thread where it is necessary. We don't need 100 threads discussing our game style, poor midfield or the recent game when there is a Post Match thread for that very purpose. Please look at existing threads before you start a new one and see if your post belongs there rather than starting a whole new thread. It is very difficult to follow the board the way things are going. Thank you for your assistance.

Another batch of new threads all relating to yesterday or the past two weeks, which could have gone on the Post Match thread.

Every time they flipped the ball out to Foley that was it. He was off and no one got near him and often a goal resulted. We are too slow in the midfield and it has killed us in every game so far. Then when we need to defend our mids don't, except Jones and there is no run created out of the backline. It also seems that every game we refuse to man up on a player who is loose or kiliing us, yesterday Grigg and against Lions, Black. I can't remember who it was against Eagles but I think it could have been Shuey.

It is next to the pic of T$ on draft day in a Melbourne jumper. Actually I think that pic showed him holding the jumper, while every other one of the top ten wore theirs.

The sad thing is that when the media talks about tanking it is always us that gets dragged up as the example and then on top of that we lost the player we got for doing it. No other club has lost their number 1 pick within 2 years. Even Gary was taken a lot further down the list as a father/son selection. The use of the two compo picks is absolutely vital to our future IMO. Use them well, plus Jack Viney and maybe another good selection later and we are well on the way. Add these players to a young list with several players at about 50-60 games and you are in a far better position than we are at the moment.

Agree too. Shocking umpiring sapped our confidence, gave them 5 soft goals, robbed us of a couple and then in the second half they ran over us, Our players wilted in the heat against a better opponent in the second half and with all hope gone surrendered meekly. Had we had the breaks we may have lasted a bit longer and had a smaller defeat. Contested possession was our way in the first half. Interesting sidelight, Dermie on Fox league teams showed Hams in the Grimes/Waters incident take a large step lowering his body just before the tackle but then throw his head back as if hit in the jaw before the Melbourne player touched him. Other clubs are doing this and getting frees. Dermie called it cheating and that it should be stamped out by the umpires. I am sure the first time we try it we will see it outlawed.

Don't they refer to lowest score as a record as well. Therefore both clubs would hold part of the record on the frees disparity.

Agree. A couple of players make a big difference if they are good. Take out Rioli and Franklin from Hawthorn and they are nowhere near as good. Same with Pendles and Thomas or Swan from Pies, Judd and Murphy from Blues. We need to add a couple of class mids and maybe with our 3 picks in the first round this year we will do exactly that.

Can see a very intense game this week as Tigers and us both desperate to get a win to stop season spiralling out of control. Loser will probably be declared finished for the year.

That stat is never mentioned by the media when they can us for losing. 3-4 good players can make a big difference.

Many on here claimed Fitzy was hopeless and should be delisted. He is starting to show his value and he hasn't developed yet physically though he is getting there. Watts and Cook may be the same and we could end up with those three and Clark making us pretty big and strong down forward. Also with Tom Mc and Davis we have some promising talent who are big and strong. Gawn hasn't even been mentioned and he can play forward as well.

Sylvia's return is predicted now at 7 weeks after he got the injury. Probably shouldn't be surprised as sounded fairly serious.
