I didn't know Santana's name was George, I thought it was Carlos.

Come on WJ, you know full well, we don't improve unless we learn from the mistakes of the past. The past must be examined and understood if we are to benefit from it in the future.

There is a difference between "requesting no questions on a topic" and "banning them". There was no ban.

More so for the reasons in my post 125.

I agree that we have the right to demand the best of our Board. He couldn't however have given the answer you gave, because he wasn't asked the question. He also did not forbid any discussion on 2011, he just said he personally preferred to look to the future. I can assure you no one was stopped from asking any question, no matter how stupid or irrelevant. I was actually amazed at how few questions were in fact asked. Usually we get plenty of them, including the many stupid ones like " will we win the flag this year etc". I actually would have loved someone to ask " do the Board think it appropriate to sack a Coach by phone?" I still think that was a disgrace. The Board should be ashamed of that one.

    AGM

Here is my 2 cents worth on last night. It was decidedly flat. It is not too much to have a rousing rendition of the club song. Russell Howcroft, the director who chaired the AGM looked like a clown with his silly shirt collar and performed like one. I thought he was pathetic. He had the chance to interview Mitch Clark and came up with the big questions we all were dying to know, " who did you follow as a kid and who are the better guys us or the lions". Really!!!!!!!!!! Mitch put him in his place. What about a question on his pre season and his fitness and how he has settled in to life in Melbourne. The Finance Director sees himself as a stand up comedian. While Stuart Grimshaw is funny the financial reports don't need constant wisecracks and jokes so that he can endear himself to us. He has done this at a number of AGM's now and I personally tire of it. I would rather some analysis of the financial situation of the club. Typical of his report was " what do those graphs mean, they mean we have spent a lot on new computers". Again really. The CEO's speech was a bunch of meaningless jargon and catchphrases. I don't know what he said. Then what we all came to see and hear, the new players and what happened, they were paraded up the front and then told to sit down. Why wasn't each one interviewed briefly? A few minutes each would not have overly lengthened the shortest MFC AGM ( 75 minutes ) that I have attended. What in the hell do you think most members wanted, answer, to hear and see the new boys. On this I say , pathetic. My conclusion on our AGM, "amateur hour" or make that "amateur hour and a quarter".

Yes, great, a robust discussion on whether or not the CEO should have been sacked last year, while he sits at the side of the President at the AGM.
  9. On her disclosed form she would have no difficulty at the 1400. Given she wins hands and heels easily I would imagine that unless she is not herself or is injured she would win. I don't say that however would necessarily be the case over longer trips. She has never felt the whip and has hardly been tested and has never been pushed out to win, but rather always eased down. She accelerates in a flash without effort and puts 4-5 lengths on the field effortlessly. She is a sensational sprinter and one of the best ever in the world. We are privileged to have seen her.
  10. I'll just mention a couple of runners. No Dispute @ 5.57 Thursday at Ballarat and Le Beau Cheval @ 3.00 Thursday Hawkesbury.
  11. I am not a real fan of figments, I prefer grapes and berries.
  12. Do I detect a "go" at a very new AFL club North of the Murray and West of Sydney?
  13. Think we should change his name to "Bull", he is massive.
  14. WJ any info on where Waylen Mansen ended up after missing selection in the drafts. Also I am keen to see how Hall goes with the Lions as he was another that many including myself wanted rookied.
  15. I won't do a daily countdown because they can get boring, but only 28 days to our Nab cup start.
  16. W We will will have to wait for the Queens Birthday Honours list, we are sure to be there. A win over the Pies would be a nice bonus before we head to Government House.
  17. I see it this way. He is gone. He is not an MFC player therefore he is of little concern to me. We have plenty of young kids on the list. We have 2 first round picks, to be used possibly this year, plus Viney, so we will have lots of young talent coming through over the next few years. We are in a healthy list position having added Clark as a bonus. I look forward optimistically to our future.
  18. Will be back soon I just have to check if I am in the Australia Day Honours List.
  19. Is there a reason we should start trouble with the Tigers when we will have our own players in that position soon?
  20. IMO the Recruiter is the eaiest target in AFL football. So many factors go into whether a pick was good or bad. Players can get injured, poorly developed, poorly coached, poorly trained, overlooked for selection, have personal problems etc, etc , etc all of which plus more that can affect their performance and for this the recruiter is blamed if the player doesn't end up a star.
  21. You should all be following Melbourne Heart the new boys. I am not a soccer fan but have seen them play live a couple of times and they have a go. Also my mate is an owner/director and that is another reason I follow them.
