Did anyone notice in the last 2 minutes of the North game, 20 metres out, right in front of umpire 15 Nicholls, who must have paid 10 frees to North and 1 to us, Sylvia slung to the ground without the ball by Majak Daw. Obvious free and a goal wins it for us. Glad it is only the NAB Cup. PS. I really feel that Dwayne Russell dislikes us as a club. Snide comments and failing to put things in a balanced way are noticable.

It was clear tonight, if we had disposed better we would have beaten North. That would have to be seen as an improvement. As for Jordie, he does a lot well, but disposal is his weakness. He must improve in that area or IMO there is no pace for him in the side, if we are going to be any good. Spoke to Neil Craig at the family day and he thought in two years we could be a very good side.

I went with my granddaughter. Very hot and crowded which was good. [censored] that the carousel was closed as that is her favourite. Spoke to a few of the boys, all looking forward to the season. Hogan is a big unit and could get bigger.

Can't believe I am saying this, when I think about another thread, but I agree entirely. I thought Pederson is smaller than we were told and was very ordinary, though plenty of time to show if he is up to it. Thought Flash was worried out of it by Morris and was useless. I also think Magner and Couch are not AFL.
-
Not from me, he was very ordinary. Appeared not interested.

Yes I did predict both losses but thought we did reasonably well. But for the super goal we win the first match and of course Sylvia's miss from 30 out straight in front. Thought our disposal was as usual pathetic and our turnovers are what is costing us football games. Forward line too crowded early. Jordie's disposal tonight atrocious. Hogan looks good. I have no worries with JV. Pederson was poor, Byrnes ordinary. Rodan good. Kent showed some promise. Dawes ordinary. The 2nd game we were clearly tired and the Tiges ran us off our legs. We lost 3 players, came off a hot first game and played a fresh side. Jimmy good. Flash not. Joel Mac's disposal still hopeless. Watts a great night and Jones too as usual. We were entltled to stop and get smashed but we hung in. Too many hardly had a touch, like Howe, in this game. Not disappointed in our first hitout. We kept at it.

I think tonight was my fault. I sent a whole lot of banana souffles around to the club for the boys and I think they over indulged.
-
They are a separate club. We have been told that several times and they play in the VFL not the AFL. He was suspended from the AFL.

My heroes of the day Jeff Kennett and Garry Lyon. See the Footy Classified thread for futher info.
-
Jeff basically demanded that the Blues be investgated and the Tigers probably as well. He said the Libba statements which he had not seen previously were so far worse and more serious than Brock's, that the AFL would have no choice but to give them the same treatment we got. When Fev's comments were added he was adamant that if the AFL had any integrity they must investigate. Hutchy said on the back of that how can the MFC be the only club dealt with. Lloyd then questioned CW's prior knowledge of the penalties handed down, before the MFC even knew what charges they may face. He said the AFL had leaked and that was an integrity issue. Best Footy Classified episode I have seen, I am keeping it for viewing again. I want to see what the AFL comes up with to avoid investigating a big club.

We haven't had a countdown for a while so here goes, days to our first NAB Cup game: 1
-
Agree. I think he was so angry she questioned his credibility that he didn't listen to what she said.
-
I am actually expecting us to lose both games tomorrow, but just hope we can show something in game style and endeavour and some hope from the new squad. Although he is only young, I am really looking forward to seeing Hogan.
-
Oh dear.
-
Footy tomorrow. At last.
-
When you have the media saying that the AFL seems to have lost it, we are justified in our feelings. We are being let down by the leadership of the AFL badly, they look fools.
-
Now we have another former Lions staffer, corroborating the story according to the Courier Mail, but the AFL is still refusing to investigate. Maybe Brocky should say he suspects something fishy up there and then away we go.

THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo
Redleg replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Doesn't want to be shown up for her pathetic and disgusting articles and the charges she said we would be hit with, that never eventuated. -
THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo
Redleg replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wilson has just demanded that CS resign over the high petrol prices in Melbourne. She said, " he can't escape this time, my sources tell me that he drives a car ". She has also told Garry Lyon that he has no credibility to comment as he also drives cars. -
Ha ha.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Redleg replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Impossible. Even if the substances can't be identified, there is apparently other evidence. More importantly though, in breach of AFL rules, they had contracts with players that the AFL was not made aware of and they injected players with substances, not by the Doctor, or on prescription and they can't even tell the players what those substances were. They are very serious matters. One journo said if the tanking was rated 1, then these are at 50. Following that logic the Bombers should look forward to a fine of $25million. -
They can do it with impugnity as the AFL won't touch the big or interstate clubs. God help the Dogs or Roos if they get caught for something.
