  1. Sorry DC didn't see your post before I posted.
  2. What are you talking about? He is like any player out of contract. He has got an offer and named a club he wants to go to. If there is no deal he nominates his price and goes into the PSD and the first club in draft order that wants to pay his price gets him. That's how it has been for years.
  3. Disagree. The way I read it is that the AFL will add your players gained and deduct your players lost points and if you are in debit, you get a pick to best represent that total. I could only see you getting more than 1 pick, if for example you lost 2 star players to high offers and you gained no one.
  4. Your point was probably agreed with in an article today, where GC said they didn't want to take Tippet in the PSD, as it could rebound on them in the coming years, when their young players come out of contract. Clearly they are aware of repercussions for an aggressive stance.
  5. Have to agree. The alternative is a player swap. It appears Giles will stay with GWS. Martin's value will then increase for Pies who are looking for a mobile ruckman who can spell forward. Maybe a swap of Martin for Dawes. Again any more than that and you are paying overs. We will get a compo pick for our loss of FA's, possibly at the end of the first round but probably in the second round and that could be part of a deal for Dawes. As far as I am concerned 3,4 & 13 are off limits for Dawes. Those picks are reserved for real talent not just a big body.
  6. Not me. I want him going to the GC for pick 2.
  7. You would be pretty happy with that result, with JV later as well. Then picks coming in for Rivers/Moloney/Bate and player swaps as well.
  8. Other than the nickname "rabbit", nothing much.
  9. They are rumoured to be using their picks on Martin.
  10. Speculation of Dogs giving 5 & 6 to GWS and getting a pick or player back, plus first MD pick. Further that Dogs would then go for Martin. In fact they may go for Hogan as they also need a KPF. Whoever they take, what would that then value MD pick 2 at. Pick 4 is better than either 5 or 6 but clearly not as good as both but need to deduct what comes back their way. Pick 4 is better than anyone other than GC could give. MD 2 is clearly less than MD 1. I think this will make for an interesting negotiation. Could we offer 4 for MD 2 with something back our way? It will also depend on Dogs letting us know who they will take with MD 1, so we can value MD 2. Side benefit is that GWS knowing we are interested but only if Viney goes later so we can still use 3. Downside may be that we are giving pick 4 now on a player who can't play for a year and might actually slide in his own draft year making it a big overpayment. Oh the fun of being a Recruiter and List Manager.
  11. I also saw it last night and I thought the show was good. Robbo did well. They covered Ron's life pretty well and it was entertaining. Only part I didn't like was when Ron put on that filthy blue jumper. I would recommend footy fans see it. Also the Bistro next door was nice and order the gnocchi it was great.
  12. I see there is another thread on the show but for readers of this one, I thought the show was good. Robbo did well. They covered Ron's life pretty well and it was entertaining. Chris Connolly and a number of staff there last night including Ellie McKenzie. Chris told me the list and recruiting people were very busy at the moment.
  13. It certainly seems that a lot of what we are tryng to do now, is to catch up because of poor past drafting. We are not maiking talent the main aim we are seeking recycled strong bodies. As an example only, BP didn't like the small forward. Who is the first player added this year? Who else do we have in that role?.
  14. Seeing the show Barassi tonight. Will give a report tomorrow.
  15. I thought Banfield wasn't a bad player. Seems to have been overtaken. Might be worth looking at if a very late pick.
  16. Agree. Looks to readers like he is a bit [censored] with the club, because they haven't guaranteed to take him and he is telling them take me or lose me. Throws the cat among the pigeons.
  17. He didn't, Jay Clark did. Your point is well made however.
  18. The AFL has hit a winner with this month long rumour fest. The publicity generated is keeping footy at the forefront in the off season.
  19. I won't lose any sleep over that. Means we are less likely to be stupid giving a high draft pick. Now we can look at a player swap for Dawes. Who do Pies want, that's right a ruckman forward?
  20. The Western Bulldogs had asked about Dawes’ status in recent weeks, but their interest has not yet significantly advanced on that. Carlton, Richmond and St Kilda all said they would not pursue Dawes. Read more: http://www.theage.co...l#ixzz28Hc9qdZb Pies options for a deal are decreasing. Very interesting that his former Coach is not interested and yet his club is desperate for a power forward. What does that tell you? If Wellingham prefers the West, I can see a player swap for Dawes. Pick 4 and Dawes should never be mentioned in the same sentence and I apologize for doing so.
