  1. "I actually went and interviewed Melbourne - they thought they were interviewing me - and you could see the problems coming," he said. "(I thought) 'They've got to get their act together better.' That was five years ago." Sheedy said he sensed 20 minutes into the interview that he was not the right person for the job, and was critical of Melbourne's questioning panel, which comprised then-chairman Paul Gardner, then-chief executive Steve Harris, Demons great Garry Lyon and former St Kilda captain Nathan Burke. "Look, you couldn't say that you were interviewed by the One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest committee, but I just wasn't really thinking that they were the right guys," he said. He said he thought the panel had not treated him as a serious candidate. "I wouldn't have thought it was serious - it was a Clayton's interview. But that's OK," he said. Widely regarded as one of the AFL's best marketers, Sheedy said it was vital for the league to have Melbourne Football Club in good health. But he said the panel he encountered five years ago lacked vision and had no firm plan to sell the club." Obviously Sheedy is not a fan of the previous Board. Thinks they coudn't even organize a simple thing like a Coaching Interview Panel. Read more: http://www.theage.co...l#ixzz2B2pVaOYs
  2. Welcome aboard and I hope the future for you supporting our great club is better than the recent past has been for me and so many other Dees fans. Also good luck for future grandkids, they are just the greatest joy. Come home from the footy depressed and they run to you and give you a kiss.
  3. We have already been penalized for NOT TANKING. If we lost the Kreuzer Cup we would have had Nic Nat and Cotchin as Demons, two All Australians. Both potential champions. The other clubs laughed their heads off at us, as did blues fans. Write about that Caro and show the world you can put some fairness in your vile, bitter, agenda driven reporting. I can just imagine the same reporting if the club was Richmond.
  4. I am talking about honest reporting. Nothing to do with us in my post. SHE IS SELECTIVE IN WHO SHE WILL BUCKET. THAT IS MY POINT.
  5. Could someone please point out to Caro, that her club the Tigers, got Trent Cotchin, their best player, after the Coach Terry Wallace has admitted that he did nothing at all in the Coach's box to try and win a game that they lost giving them the Cotchin pick. Also that Dustin Martin is in trouble again and that new player Aaaron Edwards was arrested for being drunk a couple of days after joining the club. She is obviously unaware of these matters or they are simply not highlighted on her agenda.
  6. Good point. There is just so much uncertainty in all this. I have said all along it is a mess and the AFL if they were smart would just kill it and move on.
  7. It looks like the club is prepared to fully co-operate with an independent investigation, where it is treated fairly and properly and the rules of natural justice are applied. Maybe that is a dig at the current investigation run by AFL employees, that is leaking to the media like a sieve. That investigation team are employed by the body that created the system, endorsed and fostered the system, despite criticism said that no one was doing anything wrong, will get the findings of the investigators and will then itself decide if there was an AFL Rule breached and hand down a penalty. That same body is refusing to investigate other clubs despite admissions from players and officials that these clubs have tanked. That same body is headed by a former captain of the club that is regarded as the leading exponent and beneficiary of tanking, gaining a star ruckman and it's captain, with the aid of 3rd party payments that are not allowed to other clubs. Maybe what the MFC want is a fair trial, with the rules of natural justice employed and not one by media. BTW to the media, have they ever heard of the "presumption of innocence". Its been around for a few hundred years longer than their fish and chip wrapper newspapers.
  8. I wonder if Connolly has been interviewed yet. If he was and said he was joking, what of that? Has anyone yet said we actually tanked? I am yet to see it anywhere.
  9. It is very frustrating I know. I am waiting for the club to be accused of causing the storm in the US. It would be the only thing they haven't thrown at us yet.
  10. Now I now you are an idiot with a hatred of these people. You want them to try this matter in the press like the media is attempting to do. That is clueless.
  11. Calm down sport, the most important thing here is to get past the draft without any finding and also to work with the AFL to find a solution, not to go mad and make it worse. The AFL want a solution as well, this is a mess.
  12. If she has that correct we are in the clear on Rule 19A as that only deals with Coaches or Players actually tanking. Maybe this has something to do with the coercion applied to witnesses, so that they put the club in, but not themselves and therefore are not punished. This result would allow the AFl to not penalize us if there is no finding of actual tanking but rather being told to by officials. Another side to this is, can you actually tank, if your best is not good enough to win anyway and the players all do their best to win, despite what is happening off the field.
  13. Here it is for those that can't be bothered searching for it. I am 60 and have supported them all my life. My wife and kids the same. Never seen them win a flag. Copped [censored] from other clubs fans all my life but never strayed. I started the first supporters club magazine, called Demon's World. I started a supporters group called the Premier's Club. I have been a Director of the club. I have been Team Manager of the club. I brought in a new President, Wayne Reid. I am a Foundation member. I am a sponsor. I enjoy Demonland. I have given all my hope and soul to this club. I don't want anything but success for the club. I have watched Boards fight each other. I was even part of one big fight. I nearly cried at the merger meeting when I saw the way people treated the late Tiger Ridley, a true Demon great. I have seen the club tear itself apart. This year I watched as Jim passed away, not long after two other Demon greats in Sean Wight and Stewart Spencer. I watched a sponsor stuff us up. I watched the Jurrah situation. I watched as our Coach was falsely called a racist. I watched the team get smashed week after week. I watched the media go to town on us and they still are. It just seems so unfair. Other teams cheat and win Premierships. We are the only team to win a game that losing would have given us a priority pick and we did it twice. When we did get a pick the kid spent a year lying to us and his dying President before the AFL took him away from us. There is so much more i could go on about. We seem to spend all of our time worrying about our club. It nearly makes you want to cry and give up. However that is just not acceptable as I have my children and grandchildren who I want to one day enjoy success that I have been denied. Stop the fighting amongst each other and all get behind the club. If we lose draft picks I want this club to fight all the way and I mean all the way. We owe it to those who came before and those who will come after. I don't give a rat's arse what we have to do to prevail in this situation, I just want it done. If we have to bring in every other club or destroy Demetriou or hurt the AFL I don't give a sh-t anymore. I have had enough. Yes we may have been naughty but no different to many other clubs yet we alone once again are copping it. Our brand is being trashed and our future hampered and in fact put at real risk. We have 40 or so players who want to win for us and we need to support them. I don't care how dirty we need to be just do it. We are seen as a weak club. NO BLOODY MORE. If we lose draft picks, we should hit the Courts, rally at the AFL and show the rest of the clubs that we are here to stay. Sorry for the rant, I have just had a gutful. Edited by Redleg, Yesterday, 10:53 PM.
  14. This can't be right because we all know that Demetriou wouldn't lie and he said he hadn't even seen the report and the Investigation was still unfinished. Also we haven't had the chance to have our say and present our case and call our witnesses. If you were right this would be a kangaroo court of the worst type. Surely not. The AFL stands for INTEGRITY.

  16. I understand the GC and GWS have a free banana policy, where they are paid for by the AFL and not included in their salary caps.
  17. Tippett will be forced to GWS through the PSD, so that GWS don't lose a young draft pick, under threat of deregistration if he refuses. It is called INTEGRITY. His salary will be exempt from the GWS salary cap under the new club rule which basically says that the AFL can do whatever the hell it pleases, whenever it wants.
  18. AFL Rule 87 says that the AFL can force any player to go to any club it wants, by any means whatsoever, including threats of deregistration. The AFL stands for INTEGRITY.
  19. Should the AFL be investigated for wasting $2miilion of footy money on Folau? $1million per year for 1 AFL season and 1 VFL season. Please people don't say he earned it in publicity. What about the bad publicity now that he has failed and is leaving? Described in the press as a total failure. Also lets not forget Sheeds comments at the end of the season that he would be a great AFL player. Gee.
  20. BTW ask him how they got Buddy and Roughy in the same draft, with 1 being a Priority Pick. Do you know what they did? Wanna guess?
  21. That is not an offence under the Rule. You can conspire all you like, it is the act of tanking that constitutes the offence. Here is an interesting question for the viewers Can you tank a game that you can't win? In other words does it have to be proved that you could have won and that you deliberately didn't, for the charge to be found proved. If for example you played Hawthorn and they were red hot and at full strength and we had a few bad injuries and no form and knew we had no chance. Is developing players or experimenting and not doing your best tanking when you know you have no hope? If the answer is yes, every club has tanked.
  22. I was always under the impression that Australians detested "dobbing" . Well we clearly have employed some detestable people, who are clearly disgruntled former employees, headed by Brock. I hope Carlton are next in the gun and can than Brock for his contribution.
