  1. Last year the Dogs offered 33. If only that was repeated this year. This year we will get nothing.
  2. Expect this week to be more exciting than the last couple. Should be a lot of players changing clubs. This draft, especially after the first 25 picks or so, doesn't appear to be as wanted by the clubs as many thought.
  3. Club has asked me not to mention Dale Roberts again. So I won't. Oh I just did. Well not again. He is being hidden.
  4. Nudge whether any of this true or just fantasy, it is an absolutley entertaining read. Just reading the post and speculating in my mind on some of the deals is great. That's why I like this time of year. It's fun.
  5. I do agree that if we are not using picks, then obviously we can over pay on those picks to get deals done. That is logical and efficient. It does seem like we might only have 4, JV and maybe one other pick.
  6. I get the strong feeling that was GWS negotiating to ensure they got 3 and 13. But yes it was a great get for JV at 27.
  7. Eagles have asked for 44 for former high draft pick and 21 year old Koby Stevens. Dogs offering 51. We are being told 49 is not enough for a 26 year old who has played only 16 games and 2 this year. He is another Sellar type. If the Age is correct we are looking to give a 2nd rounder for him. What the hell is going on? Do we know how to negotiate? We paid overs for Hogan according to the Martin deal and clearly overs for Dawes. We need mids. I would approach Stevens and if we can convince him to come, offer the 49 for him or someone like Bennell and then the next pick for Pedersen. If North don't like it stiff. They are reputedly desperate to get rid of him.
  8. Agree. Tell them 49 monday or deal off and we move on and find a another mid. They will grab it with both hands. Unbelievable, we lose Rivers and Moloney, the top 2 in 2011 B & F for a bloke that is 26 and played 16 games and only 2 this year.
  9. Why hasn't the AFL released the criteria for awarding picks and I mean the real detail? In other words how many dollars change the level of compo. What is $500k worth, what is $1m worth, what is $1.5m and so on. It is all a big secret. Byrnes worth nothing to Cats in compo, somehow negates all of Moloney's compo to us. How did that happen? What were the criteria used to come to that decision? Surely deducting Byrnes from Moloney leaves a balance in our favour. How is it when that is added to Rivers you still get a single pick at the worst band of compo. How are Young and Murphy only worth pick 66. Young would be on very good money to leave the Hawks. The AFL's lack of transparency in these types of decisions, leaves it open to criticism and they couldn't care less. If the media weren't up their arse, the real questions would be asked.
  10. Do you know that for a fact that he doesn't want to go interstate, or are you just guessing?
  11. And on the 21st day of FA it came to pass, the AFL manipulated the compo picks and then rested.
  12. So did the Hawks and one was and the other one nearly was in the GF side. Both have been offered contracts by other clubs. Young's was clearly a good one and superior to the Hawks offer. Also I would bet that Young's is more than Chaplin and Pearce's.

Still think he is on the table as Watters doesn't see him in the 22.
  14. I would not keep both Magner and Couch and for mine Couch would go.
  15. But the question remains why do they get two second rounders and not 1? It is clearly a handout to a struggling club.
  16. Don't think $350K per year for each, as has been stated in the press is peanuts. We surely are not playing a guy who played 2 games this year $350K.
  17. Fair enough. So what would stop the scenario where club A pays over the odds this year for a FA and pays all of his salary and the favour is returned for club B the next year. Also, while we are at it, just saw WJ and he asked why are Port and Essendon not being investigated for Draft Tampering over Monfries? They have clearly manipulated the Draft.
  18. What is to stop a club doing a deal with another to take a player on a long contract at big money, with the first club paying a part of it and maybe giving another player in the deal, to obtain a high pick. You would get the FA to the club of his choice on better money on a longer contract and get a high pick as compo. This system is so open to rorts it is not funny. Fits in well with the running of the AFL.
  19. Pity Barry Prendergast didn't.
  20. Port given two priority picks just when AFL said no more. Clearly their two picks are not compo.
  21. And is Chaplin or Pearce worth more than Rivers and Moloney less Byrnes? Give me a break. Port received a handout from the AFL. The system is a joke and as with most things from the AFL totally open to manipulation.
  22. Hawthorn and MFC have been absolutley screwed IMO by this result. There is no way in the world that if Young and Rivers were traded, that you would get anywhere as bad as the clubs received. I understand that it was not meant to be true value, but the Saints got that for Goddard and Port have been given a handout with 2 second round picks for 2 very average players. In our case it seems that a B & F winner of one year ago, who still played most of the games this year is equal to a bloke who played 6 games in the same period . That is an unmitigated joke. Then Rivers is pick 49. As a result we seem to have shot ourselves in the foot, by not trading for Byrnes with our final pick. That at least would have got us another pick about 49. Anyway what is done is done and we need to learn from it. I wonder if it is a message from the AFL to clubs to not worry about losing picks and just pick up FA's.
