  1. You mean the one with so many conflicts, like the fact that he was captain of the worst tanking team which garnered 3 number 1 draft picks and that the AFL is not investigating his team despite admissions from players and coaches that they tanked, or the conflict of his financial involvement in grounds used by the AFL in preference to others, which he makes money out of.
  2. An omen for a great year was placed in front of me last night at a dinner with friends. The hostess brought out bowls of lollies and guess what was put right in front of me, a bowl of banana lollies. I think now that that has happened the tanking inquisition will go away and we will win the NAB cup and the Flag as well in a clean sweep. Have a merry xmas and a happy new year all, especially the readers of this great thread.
  3. Apparently one of the Mayans was overheard threatening several of his work colleagues with the sack, if the world didn't end.
  4. No doubt we have stuffed that up in a few cases.
  5. Apparently the Mayans are being investigated for tanking.
  6. Interesting that Robert Smerdon, racehorse trainer, who has been charged by the Stewards, with handing a bag of money to Damien Oliver, has threatened through his lawyer to sue for defamation. One of the things that his lawyer said is that while Smerdon has been charged, the person who handed him the bag has not. The lawyer is also furious that the case has been delayed by the xmas break immediately after the charges were laid. Interesting parallel with the MFC being part of an Inquisition by the AFL, while other clubs with participants making admissions are totally ignored. Does saying you did the best thing by your club, equate to an admission of tanking? Demetriou is on record as saying that losing is the worst thing for any club and that draft picks never guarantee success. Maybe Bailey should threaten defamation proceedings.
  7. Apparently Dale had a few family issues and has been told to lie low next year and he will be a certainty for us.
  8. Let me predict, that stand-in Head of Recruiting, Todd Viney, will have more success in one year than Prendergast had in his several years. PS: Viney is also not a rat.
  9. Lets put this in context re the tanking issue. Bailey as Coach could be charged as he fits within the category of person named in Section 19A of the AFL rules. It now appears certain he will deny any wrongdoing. Demetriou has said any person in the category found guilty of tanking will be thrown out of the game forever. Do you see that happening to Bailey? It would therefore appear to get up on a charge under the rule the AFL must find a Coach or player guilty of throwing games. Based on what we know we can discard that happening to a player. It therefore seems that if we are to go down so must Bailey. Bailey through his lawyer stated his innocence and denied any wrongdoing. I don't know what he said to the Inquisitors who Interrogated him, according to his lawyer, rather than interviewed him, but I am happy to assume he has not admitted tanking. What then is the evidence against him? It was suggested that he changed his game style after being directed to lose. His lawyer said he did the same as all other coaches in charge of a team that can't make the finals. Demetriou has also said this numerous times. If he denies tanking what then is the evidence he did? If the AFL persist with this disgraceful witch hunt, while not doing the same to other clubs and with 2 in particular who have had coaches and players admit breaches of the rule, I can see this costing the jobs of more senior AFL staff. I can see a long Court action looming where a Judge admonishes the AFL in its handling of the whole affair. As a result senior people in the AFL would have to go. Remember the clubs appoint the Commission and even it can be sacked. This could blow the lid off the game and do untold damage. As a result I see no charges being laid against the club or any of its officers.
  10. Knew it wouldn't take long until we saw Rodan dancing in a Dees jumper. He is featured in the Dees xmas video.
  11. Is that the same Nathan Jones that so many on here wanted to get rid of a couple of years ago?
  12. It was in the bloody statement that the club put out on the MFC website.
  13. First witness for the MFC, call MR. A. Demetriou to the stand.First question, after thorough investigations 3 years ago, you stated and have continued to do so, that there was no tanking by the MFC, only list management and experimentation, which is an accepted part of AFL football, is that correct sir? Second question, you regard tanking as players throwing a game, is that correct? Third question, do you have any evidence of any player being told to throw a game?
  14. Well done , good post. Love to see the AFL address it. Won't happen of course. Makes me more confident this will still go away.
  15. "AFL.com.au believes the investigating officers have been applying massive pressure on some witnesses to make admissions on certain incidents, or potentially face heavy sanctions." Coercion. Very, very naughty indeed, by the inquisitors. They should know better. Tainted statements, wonderful. "Admit this, or you will be punished, we don't care if it's true just admit it, Russia cold war at its best".
  16. The probe, into practices employed during Dean Bailey’s tenure as coach, is believed to have found adversely against former football manager Chris Connolly. The above comment by Damien Barrett if true, is the innocent finding against the club we have all waited for. Remember the section allegedly breached, required a Coach or Player to breach it. If the above is true then obviously there is no evidence of said breach or we would be seeing headlines about Bailey. It would appear that Bailey has denied tanking and he was in charge. If there is no evidence that we did, end of story. What are we then left with if Barrett is correct? An off the cuff comment by CC that Bailey has been reported as saying was a joke and that clearly he didn't act on. What then? The AFL charges CC for making an unfunny joke.
