Not a terrible output for a big bloke. I presume plenty of others were therefore told to lift their game as well.
  2. Yes, for a positive I thought the girls went in generally very hard at the ball. I thought their short passing was good. I thought the crowd was massive. I was surprised at how many girls can't get any distance, even with a smaller ball. I wasn't expecting 70 m torps, but I thought if a girl was having a shot from 30 m out they would make the distance and saw quite a few that didn't. I was surprised at how many easy marks were dropped. I was surprised at how many girls held onto the ball too long and got tackled and lost it. I was surprised at how poor the handball was. Given they played 16 a side, I thought it would be more free flowing than it was, especially with some of the quicker girls using their pace. I will admit I didn't watch every second of the game. Did anyone run and bounce the ball, I didn't see one bounce? I don't mean to be disrespectful to the commitment of the girls yesterday, but if I gave an honest comment, which I did, so be it. I don't disagree with you that it will get better, but that doesn't change what I saw yesterday. I don't feel you need to say something is better than it was, just because it might/will improve in the future. If that was the case, you could never have a view on an event, as the next one might be better. I know I am probably a bit biased, as I am not really enthused about women's footy, but I watched yesterday to see how it would go and maybe get a little bit more involved. I will keep trying, but ATM I think of it more as a sidewhow and money raiser for the AFL. As armstrong 35 said, I am happy for the girls.
  3. Do you think you may have exaggerated a tad with your opening sentence? He is obviously a very good footballer as I have said, but I just don't like the word champion being thrown around, as easily as it is on here. When I think champion, I think of Selwood, Dangerfield, Sam Mitchell, Nick Reiwoldt as examples of some current players and possible future champions such as Bont and Cripps in the younger brigade. Would I like him at Melbourne, of course? Could he be a champion in years to come, of course, if he starts to regularly dominate games and become a matchwinner. I haven't yet seen that with Kelly.

  5. I thought it was scrappy, congested, poor skill rubbish.
  6. Unlike others on here, ATM, I don't see the champion in Kelly.
  7. Pretty early to be having his last chance, after injury stuffed up his 3rd year. I will repeat what I heard and that is that the FD have a high opinion of him.
  8. I amended my post, probably after you replied, but what I added was that the player we picked up with pick 53, that we got in the deal for Tyson/Salem, was a kid called Hunt. We ended up with Tyson, Salem and Hunt, for 2, 20 and 72. A pretty handy day's work.
  9. You were right, there was a bit more to it. " Melbourne was so keen on Tyson that they parted with pick No. 2 in last year's NAB AFL Draft to land him. The deal also involved the swapping of picks 20 and 72, while the Demons received Tyson and picks nine (Christian Salem) and pick 53. " We gave up picks 2, 20 and 72 for Tyson and picks 9 and 53. We then used pick 53, which became pick 57 because of compo picks, to pick up a kid called Hunt. Wonder if the media realize that?
  10. If people want to visit the past, then the question is simple today, would you swap Tyson and Salem for Kelly. I wouldn't.
  11. I think he is the swingman this year, there to fill in at both ends if needed.
  12. Wish I could.
  13. I have no problem with the competition being formed, I am just personally finding it hard to garner any interest. On the other hand if we made the GF, well !
  14. I miss your pictures. Reading was never my strong suit.
  15. Late for dinner.
  16. Different type to them.
  17. You are probably closer to Maroochydore than most Dees fans .
  18. Good to see footy talk in the media, instead of talking about 35 year old tennis players.
  19. I think Jnr is correct and he got a 3 year contract in one hit.
  20. Oscar may not be 97 kgs, but he is bulking up. Saw a recent photo of him and the scrawny kid is gone. By next year he will be a big unit.
  21. Great initiative. Nice tribute for a club legend.
  22. I have been trying to get interested in the Women's AFL competition. I just can't.
