Weid will play FF, with Jeffy nearby and Watts will play the roaming Jessie high CHF role. Vince for Lewis is a given. Hannan or Harmes can cover Watts while he pinch hits in the ruck. It therefore looks like Kent as the other in, as I just don't see Spencer playing at Etihad.

It is clear that these players have been dealt with severely, solely because of the Carlton Doctor's reports. ( This has its own dangers if left this way, as imagine a GF where the star player is put out by the opponent's Doctor's report.) Everyone agrees that the Thomson elbow was far worse, but luckily for him Danger was not hurt. Same with the Preust knee to the back. They were cowardly, thuggish and dangerous acts, yet because no injury, treated very leniently. Strangely though, Lynch hit Birchall with a forearm and broke Birchall's jaw. In that case the MRP deemed it not intentional though most media said he would go. As I posted earlier, the main reason people are unhappy with the MRP is because of inconsistency. They can decide the case first and then make the ingredients fit later. That is the problem here. The same acts can be treated differently, even on the same monday afternoon, as the MRP can effectively do what they want. Personally on what I have seen and based on previous decisions, Lewis deserved 2 weeks with his record and Hogan deserved a fine or at worst 1 week. I think we would all have accepted that. Anyway it's history now given we are not appealing, so I hope the siege mentality is used to a degree by Goodwin and we bring our A game and beat the Cats this week.

As opposed to " palming" off the MRP inconsistency.

As I posted above I have photos of Hogans open hand at contact. That is a fend off, maybe crude, but not a punch and is therefore careless, not intentional and Rowe has his hands on Hogan at the time. Hopefully they are posted on here soon and we can all have a look at what actually happened.
-
Ethan I have just taken photos of Hogans open hand before and at contact from AFL tonight vision. Sent them to WJ and hopefully he will put them up on Demonland. If somebody else knows how to do it let me know and I will forward photos. PS. Just sent them to Jon Ralph.
-
Have a look at the vision and Cripps gets up and never touches his face and isn't told to go off by the Blues medical guys. That is hardly what you would expect for someone who has allegedly suffered a fractured jaw.

Think he is on tomorrow.

Just to upset you all some more. Crows Tom Lynch broke Birchall's jaw with a forearm, which Dermie called deliberate this afternoon on SEN. Guess what, no penalty. Preust in a cowardly act, jumped into a Geelong player's back with his knee after the mark was taken. Could have crippled him. Most media thought 2-3 weeks. Guess what no penalty. The one referred to by many on here, the Scott Thomson elbow to Danger's jaw, which most media thought was 2-3. Guess what, penalty one week. Me personally, I could live with accepting the penalties, as long as the club stood up for the players and supporters, incurred the fine and blasted the MRP, highlighting the above.

Brayshaw had the cut eye and it came from a Carlton knee in a contest.

That is the key to this, who knows. The MRP has shown themselves to change with he wind. A punch to the face for example, can be classed as low, medium or high impact, careless, reckless or intentional and then the MRP can change what constitutes any category on a whim. Then it can change how it views any finding of a category also on a whim. What yesterday was an intentional, high impact strike, might today be a low impact, careless bump. In other words, they just do whatever they want and consistency doesn't enter the equation.

Might be an assistant coach then.

No, he does have some moments.

We have enough poor skilled players in defence without adding another. He can kick a goal, take a grab and is aggressive. He can apply defensive pressure as a forward. Players like Jetta and Salem hardly waste a possession and are great coming out of the backline, setting up play. Harmes is just not highly skilled and will leak goals as he did yesterday, if played down back. He looked far more comfortable later in the game when he got the ball around midfield and created play running forward.

Actually 35. K H D M 1Dom Tyson 17 15 32 12 2Clayton Oliver 11 24 35 7
-
Said this before and will repeat it. Harmes is not a defender. 3 turnovers and 2 goals and a poster to Blues early in the game, directly from his mistakes. Later in the game he was better. To me he should only be played forward, or even with a burst in the middle to add some aggression if needed. He can snag a goal and that is where he is best for us.
-
They run back defensively and we then panic and turn it over, letting them run the ground and score. Truly dumb football, from a team that is controlling possession and doing absolutely nothing with it. If they were better we would be well down.

Saints nearly rolling Eagles in Perth, is good formline for us.

Thanks.

Does anyone know how many members you could reasonably expect to add today, at our first home game, based on past figures? We are clearly getting very close to breaking 40000 for the first time. Together with good on field performance and stability off field, that would be a great result.

"Lucked out" is a strange description, when what is meant is that we got the luck. I have always thought that about this term. -
You think so?

Hope we bring our A game to the G sunday and no injuries.

Today's style of football has actually conspired against Paddy. The FF must still leave the goalsquare and run, that is not Paddy's strong suit. Watch today's FF's, they cover more ground in a game than Plugger did in a season. Forward pressure, zones etc, have changed the landscape. -
AFL sells Etihad naming rights to The Trump Organization in 10 year deal

Bigger story about to be announced. Umpires have agreed to stop gifting the Western Bulldogs games with ridiculous free kicks, while at the same time ignoring blatant ones to the opposition. Longmire said it is just too hard for 18 to beat 21.
